  • When we played Doncaster, I saw Joe Gomez coming out of Nandos. Do we think a few ex players might come along tomorrow night? I am thinking Dobbo and May possibly.

    Bairstow was there on Sunday
    Dobbo’s in Vegas
  • What has he become.
    A championship player.
Are you sure about that?  Wrexham fans seem to think they are looking to sign two starting midfielders which might make Dobson’s playing time limited. He might be in the championship as a reserve or I wouldn’t be surprised if he is loaned out to a league one side.
I don't see them loaning him out when they have other squad issues to address. I think he's perfectly capable of playing the odd game here and there and being a backup option in the Championship.
He is perfectly capable of playing the majority of games and being a key part of their team again...
Depends on their aspirations. If they're happy (as i think they should be) to consolidate for a year or two then i agree he'll be fine. If they want to immediately push for top 6 then i don't think he's good enough to be the key point of their midfield.
Personally, I think the overall quality of League One has been really poor this season. Birmingham City played with a top half Championship team, hence why they were able to absolutely waltz it. Feels like the rest have been bald blokes fighting over a comb. Tbf, Stockport County have been the most consistent at least and deserved to finish 3rd.

Wrexham and anyone else that gets promoted (including us) will need at least 6-8 new first team players to be anything like competitive imho. The weakest clubs in the Championship next season are likely to be Oxford United (wily & experienced manager), Preston North End (stable Championship club that needs a rebuild), Stoke City (rich & generous owners), Hull City (remains to be seen what way they will go), Portsmouth and Derby County (both well supported clubs with a season under their belts and good managers). Not going to be easy for Wrexham or anyone else, unless a fair few players are brought in.

I would say no chance on May. He doesn't give two hoots about us.

Dobson maybe. I know his Dad goes to a lot of games still, always feel like I see him.

    A Dobsonganger
  • Maybe controversial, but i do feel Doc isn't quite filling Dobsons boots, for me Dobbo had more quality and just generally looks perfect for the championship, i think Doc my struggle... i hope i am wrong

Saying Dobson is perfect for the championship is definitely controversial. I don't see a perfect championship player there.

I dont think Doc was ever meant to, it much more Coventry who has filled the role but of course he doesn't play exactly the same way. We have evolved as a team.

Next season will be the test for him, he obviously hasn't played at that level before but he has shown he has been one of the best players in his role for the last 3 seasons and is 27 now so it really is sink or swim for him at Championship level now
  • I'd be pretty confident that Dobbo would make the step up to the Championship

That's fair enough, each to their own. I do feel he ran the show when he was here, his passing and getting forward (strange when he is more defensive, i'd say not quite box to box but brought the ball forward) and just in general his all round game makes me think he will be able to step up. My point was more, i'd be happier if we had him instead of Doc, no disrespect to the current captain but i do think we need someone with a bit more quality alongside Coventry
