Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere but what do we think about VAR being used in the final ?  I’m not a fan personally. Most decisions seem to take an eternity to reach & even then not come to a correct decision. I can see a penalty being given in the game, particularly with all the holding & grappling that goes on at corners. Hopefully that goes our way but this game could turn on a dodgy VAR decision.
If it gets us promoted I love it, if it doesn't I hate it.

Going to post something similar to this tomorrow (a guess who game on Charlton players) but I'm switching it up a bit.

If anyone wants to watch something Charlton related, I asked 11 different Charlton groups/individuals to help build an all-time Charlton fantasy XI, thoughts?

Cracking post but “a slip, missed chance, an off day and it’s done” doesn’t do much for the heart!

I'm surprised how quite so many "Pundits" are saying we're a boring team who will do anything to suck all quality out of the game and nick a 1-0. As if we're prime Wycombe under Gareth Ainsworth.
Because we were shit in the playoffs and that’s all they watched all season. It means nothing.

No one is watching our games more than us, and we know we are a good side.

That bloke on Taylor is old enough to have seen Mendonca, Hunt, Bent, Di Canio.

Whatever you think of Parker, he’s number one in midfield. I can’t deal with the Song and Coquelin picks.

Probably could have done with asking some older fans too.

An Appleton signing, at least he left us one good memory. Gilly is such a well rounded personality, little seems to ruffle him

I dreamt about a penalty shoot out last night... But I couldn't actually see them being taken, I just heard the crowd reaction. We were 2-1 up and the cheer for the Orient second sounded like our lot cheering and it had been saved, but then someone said they had scored... then I woke up.

So many factors in a playoff final that it’s hard to predict the outcome. I am taking some confidence that so many times this season (post-Crawley debacle) we have found a way to win.

Nerves are definitely building now! Whatever happens on Sunday, NJ and the team deserve huge credit for the turnaround and will be able to look forward to next season (hopefully in the Championship!)

Don’t think this will be a pretty game. Orient have the ability to play nice stuff but NJ will want to turn this into a physical battle as we have stronger, fitter and bigger players. Orient will need to go into the last 15 mins at least 1/2 up if they are to win. Our CBs should get some chances from set pieces if our delivery is good enough and the idea of REG having to deal with either TC or Godden and then Aneke gives me some confidence.

Orient do have pace, notably Agyei but he tends to play on the right where we are defensively solid.

I’m slightly worried about our CBs giving away a penalty at a set piece. They aren’t as blatant as Beckles have been but they do love a wrestle. Gillesphey used to do this all over the pitch but part of his upturn in form has come from him going for the ball and not the man.

I think we’ll just about have too much for them but if we score it will either be in the first or last 15 mins. The 60 in between could be incredibly painful to watch.
The 2019 match wasn't pretty either. Apart from the goals there wasn't too much goal mouth action. Phillip's saved one early on (finger-tip save round the post) and Lyle Taylor had a dipping volley yards over the bar. Apart from routine catches from corners that was about it.
Yeah, even Josh Parker was unable to trouble their keeper.

It's not true that most of time the decision is wrong. You just get to hear about it more if it's controversially wrong.  Agree about the delays though, and common sense is often removed. A drip of sweat hanging off the end of someone's nose shouldn't make them offside for example.

Edit. As previously posted, I don't mind it being used on Sunday.

To be fair we are a pretty tough watch generally speaking. The two games against Wycombe were proof of that.
Pretty well the fault of Wycombe. Proof that it’s down to them? Compare the 0-4 game to the first leg. They clearly set out to stop us playing. The last 15 minutes showed what can happen when we do get into our rhythm.
The home leg wasn’t a terrible game. It wasn’t sparkling, but under the circumstances we played okay when they let us.

I think the final will be different, although finals are often cagey so I’m not expecting much, but Orient will at least try and play football against us which will make for a better game

Out of our whole squad the only player I would be proper nervous about seeing come on is A.Micthell, he's got a Naby Sarr moment in him, and not an amazing cross field ball...

Hopefully that'll be the kind of BeckenSarr moment that he shew in the game against Burton where he broke up the Albion attack, turned and brought the ball upfield before playing a very good ball out to Watson on the right wing, who then provided a peach of a through ball for Sniffer Dog's first goal.

Or the moment in the second half of the same game when he headed home ConCov's pin-point cross.

Just for once, how about we focus on the good things that our players bring to the side instead of calling out a Mitchell mistake, TC not being effective recently, Anderson not being suited to our midfield and hopeless on the ball etc.

At the moment I don’t feel nervous, I can’t help but think it’s because I never expected us to be in the playoff final given where we were in December.

That being said, tomorrow/Sunday morning, I am sure it will ramp up!

Picking an all time Charlton team is only possible if you also talk to the older folks, like my Dad who’s 93. Once they are gone, we’ll have to rely on books or videos of them speaking because the bits of video evidence are scratchy.

If someone even suggested Lyle Taylor or Coquelin then you may as well ask Benny Hill or Ken Dodd.
