Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
He’s been missing from our daily WhatsApp chat for a day or two, not unusual we often do it to each other when we need some time out.
I texted him yesterday with no reply and again not unusual, so I WhatsApp his wife Angie, just a simple
“Thinking of you both, stay strong love Ray and Lynne xx”
Nothing else I could say would make Wally better or help Angie stop worrying, in the last half hour I received this message from Angie, I’m not changing a word it’s exactly how I received it.
I hope to travel up at the earliest opportunity to see them and although technically I’m on jury service until Friday I will travel irrespective if it becomes more urgent.
As the message says Wally is not well enough to receive calls, but by all means send messages to me and I’ll make sure he hears them asap.

“ Just got back from hospital. Cancer spreading quite aggressively now.
We've done the DNR today.
We don't know how little time he has but it's just a case of management.
Can you let Colin know and charlton folk. He doesn't mind hearing from you n Colin but he doesn't want to be bombarded this week.
It's shook him up x”

Sending love and good thoughts.
Let them know how much everyone thinks of him.
I do not know Malcolm but what an inspiration he is in his fierce struggles with his health.
Thoughts with everyone. xx
Get yourself up there when you can and give him a big hug from all of us.
Thinking of you Malc.
Give him my best wishes
My thoughts are with Malc, Angie and everyone connected.
Thoughts are with Red/Malc, and all those closest to him, and the wider Charlton family.
