  • Karoy in midfield would suit a three upfront, due to his energy for a four rather than a five.

I know it's fun posting wild opinions... but GRIMMER? Really?

We are in the Championship now.

So let's set our sights higher.

I feel comfortable that Nathan and our recruitment team know whats needed.

(Been a long time since i felt that way).

It will be interesting to see if the owners are willing to fund what is needed.
Let's hope so, and leave a bit of dosh for the January window
  • ERHAHON ?!?
Do we really want a midfielder who is injury prone, and in his 3rd season in league one tailed off in his performances at that level ? £600,000 banded around by his agent.  Yes he is only 24 but to me sounds a big risk !!! He was at loan with Barnsley when they were in the champo and he did not play ! A lot of money for a Coventry back up…

  • What’s all this pivot bollox ?
It means they're good a helping to move things from houses... and know how to get round tight corners.

So that's JRS, CBT, James Beadle and, remarkably, Tom Lockyer who have been added to the 'suggestions for signings that I remember' list. We're going at a good clip this year considering it's still only May. Can we get a full on-pitch 11 before the transfer window properly opens?
Pretty sure Dijksteel has been suggested, too. I can't believe I'm saying this but of those all listed, he actually feels like a sensible-ish option (depending on wage), probably as utility RCB/RWB cover...

Oh no, I've been sucked in to the trap
Cannot see any chance Boro would let him go. Strong performer all year, saw him waltz through Burnley defence and score at Turf Moor.
    What a blockhead
  • What’s all this pivot bollox ?
Ah. Now I think I can answer that. Is it when the false 7 emerges from the hole in the high press and retreats to a less advanced position, but ahead of the others forming the low block.

An alternative explanation is that it's probably a manoeuvre you've been watching all your life that's been given a new term.

Not quite as a double pivot doesn't exist in a standard 442 midfield, although I guess if you were watching football during the WM era or a keen follower of 1980's Brazil then you would have been watching it. If you're genuinely interested it just means playing 2 defensive midfielders whose job is to sit in front of the defence and not really attack. Usually balanced out with someone playing ahead or by having lots of attacking width from wingers and wingbacks at the same time

Who was saying about trying to get Offiah
  • Cawley has suggested we're looking at Offiah from Brighton who was on loan at Blackpool last season.

That'll please people as know his name has been mentioned here already as one we should be looking at
  • Anyonr know if we're interested in Offiah?

Would signing him suggest Ramsay shifting back out to RWB? Offiah is a great player and I'd be delighted if we signed him but tactically it's interesting. I could be wrong but I seem to remember him as a solid defensive RB not a flying attacking one

  • Does he have his uncles pace?

Steve Bruce refers to his ‘mazy runs’ in the article.

Which I would say describes Ramsey’s forays from RCB more than Small’s direct burst of pace up the line.

If either of them play RWB it’s a suggestion that we will be looking to be more defensively solid and attacking threat needs to come from higher up the pitch

He’s rapid but definitely defensively better than going forward guessing him and Ramsay would rotate between RCB and RWB depending on which of the 2 fancies going forward very interchangeable

You'd have to think there is a strong chance of it happening as Rich isnt the type to throw names out there without anything substantial behind it.

Presume he'd be the replacement for Small?
Yes…..it certainly does mean we are ‘interested’ and in saying so Rich (as usual), is no doubt perfectly correct.
However, it doesn’t make it anymore likely of happening just because he’s been informed.
    Sorry to sound pedantic FA.
Incidentally, I very much hope we can pull this one off.🤞🤞🤞

Seen him described as a "league 1 cheat code", a "beast" and a "rolls Royce of a defender." Wonder what sort of fee he would command?

Year left on his deal at Brighton so probably £500k with a sell on? Brighton tend to get really good fees for any youngsters they sell

If it is just us v QPR it will be an interesting test of our ability to land good players.
