Ray your post is so moving. What a friendship, and what a bond.

So difficult to read that Ray and I know even more so for you to write it. Wally has some wonderful friends in you and Colin and his soulmate in Angie. Be strong for each other as you all have been for him. Our hearts go out to Wally and to you all.

You’re a true friend to him Ray, that speaks volumes.
This site infuriates me sometimes, but this is the best of Charlton Life for all the wrong reasons, some incredible people on here.

Well done Ray, this was tough read, have been following the story for a while now! Wally is one of the most respectful people I have come across on CL. I send nothing but my best wishes to you, and also Angie in this very difficult time.

Well that pretty much reduced me to jelly. You are a true friend Ray - sounds like Wally knows that too. I can't think of anything to add except to wish Wally to be free of pain and with his loved ones. Strength to him and all who know him well.

Ray, what a day yesterday must have been for you, Dave and Angie, and your recollections of the visit are very moving for someone like me who has never met you or Wally, but at the same time feel that I know all of you.
Your strength and fortitude was immense in a very difficult, moving and loving visit, my prayers and thoughts are with you all...

I wish I could find words.
I admire you so much for what you do for other people Ray.
I can’t begin to imagine how difficult and emotional yesterday was for all of you.
Our thoughts are not only with Wally and Angie, but also with you!

RM’s match threads were what really got me hooked on CL - made it possible to keep up with the game no matter the time or place and they were always excellent.

I never had the pleasure of meeting him but Wally seems like as much of a top bloke in real life as he is on here.

I’ve never met you either Ray but thank you for the updates, with you and Angie by his side I’m sure he’ll of appreciated it more than anything else in the world.

This place will not be the same without RM's posts. I hope he's comfortable and again thoughts are going out to him and his family.

RM's match threads were a major factor in me dumping the other site and moving 'full time' to CL. I'll always be grateful for those commentaries and as a result being drawn into this oasis of knowledge and nonsense in which I spend far too much time.

Best wishes to RM and his family, and to @T_C_E for being Wally's great mate and letting us know about his journey, although the news is desperately sad.

I deal with some right old stuff at work, and see and hear the most awful stories life has to offer, most of which just bounces off, but the recount of your likely final moments with your pal, has shredded me.

Sincere regards to all of you connected with Malcom.

@T_C_E Ray, that must have been absolutely brutal. Wally is a very lucky man to have people like you and @DaveStorry close to him as well as his family. Really sad that it's all happening so fast, but with the pain you've been in @Redmidland Wally I wish you the most uneventful and comfortable journey to the end of the pain. Thoughts are with everyone that knew Wally and with Wally himself as I write this.

Ray and Dave, so hard for you, for Angie and for Wally.

We all have this life to learn the meaning of love.

    Love to you all.

Apart from this forum I don’t know Ray or Wally in person but reading this thread has me welling up. What a beautifully written piece from you Ray, it felt I was there in the room with you. May Red’s passage on be free of his mortal pain. And at least he got to hear of one last heroic match from The Addicks to boot.
