Being in it for a decade is a liability if you don’t have anything tangible to show for it and for a football club that’s basically an improved stadium that increases revenues because the money from being in the PL has otherwise all been spent after the first few seasons. A couple of ‘good’ seasons would be being in the PL and playing in the Champions League and seeing the riches of that money flowing as well. Those are the two things that investors will be seeing as the objective for their buy in because there is no other chance of a real financial return from owning a football team other than selling the ‘value’ of that to the next investor
