  • Rod was decent - but nothing will top Elton in that slot
Elton didn’t play the legends slot!
  • Using this thread as a 'what to check out on iplayer next few days' list!
  • Surprised Rod couldn't get hold of Celtic shirts without a betting company sponsor on them.
Not so sure he’s too welcome at Celtic right now

You can always rely on Rod Stewart to put some eye candy up on stage, which may or may not be to avoid people thinking about his voice. Bless him.
I think, like retirement, there should be an age limit to performing. McCartney; Stewart, Daltrey & Jagger are all now in their 80's (or close to it). Their voices have gone. Time to stop touring & performing. Let's remember them in their heyday.
Can add Mick Hucknall to that too.

So good to have The Maccabees back
Brings back memories seeing them at the Camden Crawl in 2006

Also, how cool to be in a band with your brother (and have your other brother as a touring member) and get to experience things like this

2006 Camden crawl was my stag night.  Great memories.
    - fratellis in the basement of fop records.  We drank their rider
    - one of the first klaxons gigs at Koko
    - wolfmother at the underworld

  • She’s obviously not aimed at me, I don’t mind her, but I didn’t quite realise how big Olivia Rodrigo was. I feel old.

Saw her a couple of days ago in Hyde park with my daughter. She was very good! Her demographic is young girls which meant I had a great view of the stage!

Speaking as someone that performs in multiple bands and works in the music industry.... I can't stand Glastonbury, due to the fact they don't pay a good 95% of performers. The usual approach is to offer zero fee and a couple of free tickets, with the expectation that additional band members purchase their own tickets at face value. In some instances, they are given direct access to purchase these. In other instances, they need to have somehow procured tickets themselves, competing against other ticket buyers.

It's very common to find scenarios where a band is booked (say a six piece), they have 1 or 2 free tickets, then somehow they have to find additional musicians to plug the gaps from musicians that are already going. When they're often playing 4-5 sets already at all hours of the day, this is hardly an easy task.

Smaller festivals do at least pay people and offer entry and often guest list, even if the pay is sometimes nominal.
My son and his mates played Boomtown a few years back. Definitely didn’t get a penny from playing there. They were like a post it on the billing and I think they were first up on Thursday lunchtime. But they all got passes and camping for the duration. They had performers wristbands,I think/know they lived the dream of all young musicians or young men. The Levellers were playing and they were too wasted know.
As a band they always seemed to play for drinks and a good time. Great if its not the day job but not so good if you’re trying to make it in a very tough business.

Really well, especially nothing matters, but even their new songs went down well. I'm a fan so really enjoyed them. Was a great atmosphere there, been a few times when everyone has been pissed aggressive, this was families and teenagers and they were really hyped up. Ed Sheeran caused an earthquake when he turned up

My daughter loves her. To be fair, she hasn't missed a note.
  • Can’t fault her, pretty impressive. Must be amazing for the young girls there watching her.

  • Just caught up with Brian Jonestown Massacre on West Holts from earlier. Brilliant as ever. Kings of psyche rock reign supreme.
  • Pulp and Prodigy take it for me over the three days. Craft and nostalgia. But I'm an old fart.
  • Saw Prodigy at Wembley arena some years ago. The ceiling was dripping with sweat. Was carnage. I had to get out half way through as it was mental. Went back in after a 5 minute break outside.
Felt done in for a few weeks after that gig.
  • My wife said the flashing lights from the Prodigy was making her feel sick! So now we’re watching Olivia Rodrigo instead, in fairness she’s a lot better than I expected.

Will catch up on the Prodigy set tomorrow, looked mental.

First band I’ve  watched all weekend when I’m actually jealous of not being there

Nice calm one to finish your weekend 😂

Id be ruined finishing the weekend with Prodigy think we saw Bjork as the last act when we went and it still took me 3 days to come down
