    Goole
I went there for a game in 2015 or 2016, I had advanced purchase train tickets and our game with Scunthorpe had been postponed because of international call ups.
It was pouring with rain all day which made the place all the more dreary.
They had a Spoons so that was good :)

I mean, you can't really expect much from a place name that closely resembles a childhood nickname for a testicle - but even with that low starting point, Goole still manages to disappoint. I've ridden my bike through there a few times, it's the sort of place where locals stand slack-jawed in the street, pointing listlessly at you in bewilderment if you're wearing any clothing other than jogging bottoms.

I've been to both - neither are as bad as any of the towns I mentioned above.

Barton is an example of my theory that people who like Morrissey have a good chance of being fruit loops.

A place called Goole. Never heard of it but I like it already.
I actually watch All or nothing and other channels that travel around UK and I've not seen Goole visited yet

In the early 90s I resembled this remark.  In 2025, I no longer resemble this remark.  Am I a reformed fruit loops?

Worked on the Hessle Road, Hull in the 80s. If you think it's a dump now, I was working there before they had loads of redevelopment investment.

Joey Barton arrested after assault near golf club

Former footballer Joey Barton and a second suspect have been arrested after a man was assaulted near a golf club. It happened on Sunday at 21:00 GMT in Fairway, near Huyton and Prescot Golf Club on Merseyside.

Officers arrived at the scene and found a man with injuries to his face and ribs, Merseyside Police said. A 50-year-old man and a 43-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of wounding. Both men remain in custody for questioning.

Police said the victim was taken to hospital for assessment of injuries to his face and ribs. At a High Court hearing earlier over a libel claim involving Barton, Gervase de Wilde, representing ex-England footballer Eni Aluko, said his instructing solicitor had "received a call from a duty solicitor in a police station in Liverpool" shortly before the hearing.

Mr de Wilde told the court that Barton "was arrested yesterday and is currently being held in custody".

Might also worth noting that Eni Aluko won her case against Barton:
Former England footballer and pundit Eni Aluko has been awarded more than £300,000 damages * and legal costs after suing Joey Barton for libel over social media posts.

Given the Jeremy Vine case apparently cost him £600k once you take costs into account etc, it's a hell of a lot of money to pay out just to feel all edgy on Twitter.

Perhaps Tommy-ten-names can give him some tips on how to grift money out of gullible saps? I am sure there are plenty of people who will give up a chunk of their weekend drugs money to help a bloke who insults a posh black woman... Three birds with one stone there.  :D
