CAST is in contact with the club about this and we hope to be able to work with club staff to mitigate the effects of the proposals on fans who want to get to The Valley but for whom public transport, cycling or walking isn't feasible. They just want everyone to pay to park outside their house in the whole of the borough. I don’t consider Plumstead anywhere ‘near London’ nor Charlton for that matter.
Even owning a car now is turning in to a thing of privilege.
We sometimes get the train but due to the cost of three minimum and sometimes five of us attending driving is the most cost effective way. We already pay to park in the same place that used to be free.
The council have made that document unbelievably difficult to negotiate. I spent 10 minutes looking and have given up for the time being. These councillors are an utter disgrace and their underhand tactics are shameful.
Every resident in the Royal Borough of Greenwich should be contacted by local opposition councillors and given an opportunity to sign an opposing petition if they so wish.
I voted the Green Party in our local council election recently due to disgraceful way the Labour council treated their own councillor over a local issue. Shooters Hill residents didn’t take kindly to what the council are doing up there so the Green candidate got in. They should listen a bit more.

I understand the idea of keeping cars out of city / town centres in principle - except it should be done in a proper planned way taking into account the needs of local businesses and those who are reliant on their car due to age / disability / safety / lack of alternative for a specific journey. If we had reliable, fast and affordable public transport it would help.
I’m not a regular Green Party voter but I certainly wasn’t going to vote for Labour after, as I said above, their shoddy treatment of their own councillor, and not listening to residents over plans for Green Garth and the equestrian centre.
They would do well to listen a bit more. They lost that local election on that point alone! I’m pretty sure of it.
As for the parking.. well I don’t have a car and have very quick transport links but I do worry about the low income workers in, for example the care industry, trying to find more money to keep their car, to keep their job, to keep a home. It’s just never ending.
I live in Medway,,My wife is 79,me 81,there is no way I am going to ponce about with public transport if driving is no longer possible .I am not alone by any means,public transport too costly and impossible on weekdays,so Cheers Greenwich Council for penalising CAFC of Revenue,and depriving supporters of a vital part of their lives,you make me sick the lot of you,the sooner you all get voted out the better,remember Simon Oulman(I think thats how you spell it)

Sorry, disagree, if you buy a house next door to a football club then you know what comes with the territory nobody is naive enough to not know cars will come and park in your street.

Looked through the proposals and for context it's not just a few extra streets in Charlton it's pretty much the whole borough of Greenwich that's been marked out. This goes beyond just travelling to Charlton games this affects anybody from outside the borough of Greenwich travelling in to park up anywhere. This is an absolute disgrace from Greenwich if this goes ahead.

Yes strapped for cash councils were 14 years in the making. Or did you mean climate change and the need to reduce car usage? I wish the council well in their consultation efforts and hope solutions can be found that increases happiness levels in the borough and on here.
I live in Plumstead. Most of the streets round me are free parking. With usually spaces to park. Then easy access to the Valley by bus or train. Try that. Personally I usually cycle to games or public transport if I’m not coming from home.
I am so glad our flat is on a private road with our own parking spaces and restrictions covering them, because these proposals by Greenwich are pretty farcical overall.
The people of South East London already suffer from a severe lack of transport links compared to the rest of the city, and all our river crossings are tolled, and the drive into Central London to miss those involve driving into a congestion charge zone instead. I'd love to see how they expect people that need to drive for a living, or regularly travel long distances with family, pets etc are meant to go about their lives. No doubt they'll be pointed in the direction of Western Europe's slowest, most expensive trains, many running on lines established when steam was still prevalent in public transport!
Obviously I am only concerned about matchday parking,but surely this will affect any person visiting families or friends,if you drive 100 miles to see your mum and dad,can you only park outside their house for 2 hours.I do agree,I would be pissed off if I came home from work and couldnt park due to football traffic,but these proposed restrictions will cause many problems for residents,I hope they speak up.
