I got rejected for I think the 15th year in a row. I only know one person that has got a ballot place (they’ve run it 3 or 4 times)0
-
5 of us went in the ballot for London Marathon and none got in0
-
Maidstone River Park parkrun is cancelled tomorrow due to a Bluey event at Kent Life.0
-
12th consecutive rejection on the marathon. Got to the point i dont event get disappointed anymore0
-
52nd consecutive complete.Gonna have 2-wks off now, somewhere hot(ter)4
-
Horrendously hot 55km today on the trails from Woolwich to Richmond. Close to jacking it in multiple times.
Wish I did when I saw the finisher t-shirt had Crystal Palace across the middle of it alongside Woolwich and Eltham.8 -
My first ever visit to the Isle of Sheppey. Lovely people - met some Charlton fans - and some much-needed sea breeze.4 -

Wow, epic run. park run this morning was hard enough - can't imagine doing that 10 times more! hope you're enjoying a well earned beer0 -
Received my annual marathon rejection email on Thursday - found it lurking in the spam folder as per usual. Years of conditioning had me on autopilot to accept my fate and forget about the marathon for another year... and then realised I'd got a place. A genuine Charlie Bucket moment!

Anyone taking on the North Downs Run this Sunday should be prepared for a very hot day.0

Managed to get my Beckenham place park pb this morning in the heat. Have done about 60 here. Last one in the 35-39 category. Will have a better age graded score next week!2
-
Over to Hanworth for me yesterday - a real local parkrun with only about 80-90 people doing it, and really friendly too. Just two left for me to do in London (at present): Morden and Southall.4
-
Looking ahead into next week and beyond it's got to be early morning runs only as the heat builds again.0
-
Gladstone today…”North Londons hilliest/most undulating” according to the briefing, so this under researched chump turns up on this scorchio day to face it - d’oh!3

Was walking with dinosaurs, well running with folk dressed as them, at Jurassic Park, sorry .. Irchester Country Park, where dinosaurs did once roam. They'd have done well to get round in today's heat. Just over 29 for me. Getting closer to going over 30 for the first time, but safe for another day. Phew, what a scorcher!

That was a tough morning. I was at Panshanger in Hertfordshire, one lap around a picturesque country park.
The best one I've done lately is Portrush, it's all beach. It's an out and back parallel to Royal Portrush (which hosts The Open next week), with the turnaround near the 5th green.

Shorne Woods parkrun is cancelled tomorrow. Given the overnight forecast it is likely to be one of many. Up to 100mm of torrential rain and large hail plus lightening over a relatively large, densely populated area in 3hrs may cause unexpected problems.

Aiming for my 1st one in over 6 months tomorrow and there’s a weather warning!1
-
I urge everyone who intends to parkrun tomorrow to check rain radar and lightening maps before leaving home. Weather apps will be useless.

I've bought some trail shoes so might go for it. Like picking the right tyres for a race. On the other hand...0

At 6:30am, if the weather continues moving in its current direction, the worst of the rain will be over west London and to the west of there. The nearest storms are over northern France. So, taking my own medicine, I will prepare for a parkrun but check the radars and parkruns before leaving home.

Perfect conditions, a flat course, and a day of firsts for me.
1st time Exmouth
1st time over 30 mins
1st time over 35 mins
1st time I had to stop running and walk most of the route (groin) 😢0 -
A damp first time at Maidstone River Park for me and Mrs Hex. Plenty of traffic on the narrow paths ensured I didn't over extend myself returning to full fitness.2
