Hey Orient...51

This is like the big money version of summer 2011.13

Really like this signing. Serious options up top this year. We mean business.7

Very happy. Any idea why this has been announced on Sunday morning? It might just be because there is no reason not to announce it today.1 -
Genuinely don't envy Jones having to pick a team
Think we'll possibly see Olaofe and Leaburn starting up top against Watford, given how both have done in Pre-Season, but we've definitely got options now in attack.
Really does feel again, as though last year was all about the Defence, making sure we were tight at the back and getting that right, especially after the last couple of years, now thats been "resolved" we've seemingly turned our attention more to the lack of goals that we had issue with at times.9 -
Matty Godden happy to have the competition.

Defence sorted last year - Ammunition up top now assembled - just a few more bullet loaders through the door to go and we have lift off30

Godden and Kelman could be a lovely partnership. Doubt we’ll see it too often though.4

Wow - I’ve been slightly sceptical about our transfer business so far, but this is a really significant move.
Had a great season last year & tons of potential, but it’s likely to be a huge amount of money for us on a player who has only had one decent season (and at a lower level). Really admire the ambition of this signing though.2 - Sponsored links:

Four year contract too. It’s like we’re an actual, proper, football club again after a decade or more operating as a failed state.48

What on earth has happened to us. This isn't the old Charlton that I know and love.6

Signing the top scorer from League 1, for any club in either the Championship or League 1, is a big deal.
Look at last year when May was signed from us for Birmingham. As others have said even if his production halves this season, that's a dozen goals in the championship and as we've seen recently it's not that many players that hit double digits.
If we end up signing Knibbs (or a similar player) then we're nearing completion, and you can't say we're not giving it a good go17 -
Excellent
Imo, so far our best summer signing. Only 23 and still has his career ahead of him.
He will be great on bench to begin with. Like a hungry wolf when Charlton need an equaliser or a winner2 -

Great news, welcome Charlie. Bet somewhere Linfieldos has self combusted.6

Heard he had a medical on Friday but waited to find out. Apparently good mates with Godden.
Welcome Charlie. Good to see the owners stepping up with some cash too. We must stay in this division.6 -

2024: What the f**k are we doing selling May.
2025: What the f**k is even going on39 -
Vile, I like it!7

First Sunday announcement ever?1

And we’ve managed to make all these signings without Matt Southall’s supply of cokes, sweets and crisps, let alone his super duper mobile phone.21
-
To our advantage clearly but why are QPR happy to
let him go? You’d have thought after last season they should want to use him.Do they have more significant financial challenges of their own ?0 -

Godden is 34, I can see him taking a bit of a back seat and helping to mentor Charlie from the off, and being the fresh legs off the bench for the most part14 -
