At 33 most of my life being a charlton fan has been real hard work and not much positive
this is the first time since the prem days i am seeing us splash some cash and really buzzing for seeing players come in of real quality
really think we are lucky after all the scum that tried destroying our club to have the owners we now have who are at least giving it a good go and backing the management thats all i have ever wanted with the best intentions at heart BUZZZING for the future!!!
Also seems that Ron Martin (their previous owner) tried to get QPR to buy back the sell on clause a few years ago, to help with the debt problems they were going through. Yet QPR refused as they didn't think that Kelman was worth it.
Got to say, 20% is high along with the up to 5 million, QPR have done a very good deal,
But, we needed him and if he does well and goes for a big fee, I don't think we will care too much about 20% as a fan base, doubt the people with the money will either.
Credit to the board for having it large, Jones wanted his man, and they pulled out all the stops to get him.

Great for Southend.
Got a meeting planned with their chairman so will ask him

Thought NJ’s comments about the owners were very interesting. They clearly needed some convincing so fair play to him for managing it, them for being open and then ultimately for opening the cheque book

IF, and it’s a major IF, we end up paying 5m, after all the add on clauses are met, it will mean he’s been a major success and we are most likely in the Premier League. If he’s then sold for 40m then fair play to them for insisting on the sell on clause.
From my perspective I take all these rumoured fees with a large pinch of salt. If it’s undisclosed it’s all guesswork. On our side the Club are happy it’s a rumoured 5 million as it looks like we have spent big and QPR are happy as it looks like they haven’t sold for a pittance. At the end of the day who cares. What matters is how that player performs in a Charlton Athletic shirt.
(The above although in response to your post is more of a general point)
Jones obviously has a lot of faith in this signing. It’s a big transfer fee for us but if it works out well it’ll be worth every penny. Lot of pressure on the young Kelmans shoulders so I hope he copes with the expectations he now has.

May last season be the start of a prolific career. Before Orient his goalscoring record was not great.
