Which as I said earlier is why I HATE the way modern series are so truncated together. Test series are becoming like the Christmas Premier League schedule, where teams have no rest time, and have to rotate players, instead of being centrepiece events where the best players play every game, and at their peak. The spectators at The Oval want to see Bumrah and Archer steaming in, not Overton and Arshdeep Singh .
Be interesting to see what the rotation of pace bowlers is for the last test, would suspect Atkinson for Carse might be the only change, I don't think from what's been said that Wood is going to make it
Is Archer going to play three Tests on the bounce following such a long lay off or Woakes all five? Is Stokes going to be fit enough to bowl long stints? India have similar issues with the bowlers and presumably Pant won't be playing either.
Oh I'd go full rotation , I just don't have the confidence they'll actually do it. Archer I'd have on rest now until the Ashes but he'll probably turn up in the crisp tournament. Would have a look at Cook definitely.

The ECB are taking fans for fools. It's the same reason we had, for the first time in history, no home Ashes Test in August last time. The most expensive cricket to watch is given the least amount of respect.

It's a completely stupid strategy , most the centrally contracted players will barely play in the crisp competition anyway. Letting it take over August is such a bad management decision from the ECB , August should be Tests, Finals day of the Blast at the start of the month and the One Day Cup
England are a fascinating team to watch most of the time so credit to them for that, but the behaviour near the end was really poor form.
Fair enough they wanted to get out of there as the game was done, so no issues with them offering India the draw. Once India refused however they should have just accepted it and cracked on without all the moaning and whining. Why on earth would India walk off with players near centuries and the next test only a few days away?
It’s been a great series so far and I’ve really enjoyed all the needle, but yesterday just made them look like a set of spoilt kids who hadn’t got their own way. It was an embarrassment watching them near the end.
There is much to like about this team but the sense of arrogance and entitlement is really off putting at times. They could all learn a few things from Root who is the most talented of them all yet always seems very humble.
Ultimately there's another test in a few days, it would be stupid for India not to want to get a few extra overs in the field in the legs of our players
Just feels like this whole series has been full of completely unnecessary behaviour on both sides. Gill and India are completely classless too , led by chief instigator Siraj who is a complete clown that needs taking down a few pegs , who the hell is doing the Ronaldo celebration when you've got a no9 out and conceded over a hundred as a frontline seamer.
I expect better from England teams behaviour wise. A few fines and demerit points wouldn't go amiss for Stokes and co. Root is the perfect example of the standard that should be set.

Brooks bowling was a joke, not sure if it was his choice or told to by the captain. Root kept to the point and bowled properly.
Woakes won't come to Australia. The attack will be based around rotating Atkinson, Carse, Tongue, Wood, Archer and possibly a bolter like Pennington, Hull or someone like Eddie Jack who FF was talking up recently. Woakes has been a fine servant for England, but an Ashes tour would be a step too far.
Would absolutely love Stone and Mahmood back fit and in the squad. Wood obviously too.
I think they will want one swing type bowler in the side for most of the tests out there. Flat wickets and 3 big guys banging it in is just playing to the Aussie batters strengths. We will also need someone who can get through a lot of overs to allow the other quicks to do that. So I expect there to be a Cook/Woakes/Potts type in there most tests IMO.

Which does beg the question, who would be best to play that role. Woakes or Anderson?
Jimmy is a more rounded bowler than Woakes, and even at 42 is probably faster too.

Completely agree and has had some success in Aus in the past. Was never right to force him out the door imo. Especially once Broad left. He may not have been playing every match but to have the option is something you should never turn down.
Poor, childish and embarrassing behaviour by England that led to a sour finish, because they were tired and sore at the end of the "test". The only positive is that it has been recognised by the English supporting media and fans.

8 wickets day 2
5 wickets day 3
5 wickets day 4
2 wickets day 5
A drawn Test match the result - following all 4 previous CC matches also having being drawn at Old Trafford this summer.

Woakes and Carse - played all 4 tests so far
Archer - surely too much to play 3 in a row after four years out.
Atkinson - is he even fit enough to play ?
Whether he does or not remains to be seen.
