  • In terms of NJ and the PL I think he's worked out he needs to be promoted into it and that's why he picked us and has stayed with us. I think we are the perfect sized club for what he needs, big enough we can reallistically be in the PL in the next few years if everything goes well but small enough that he can have the almost complete control he needs and have underdog status. I hope we get to see that realised and rewarded
  • It's interesting how much more English football at the top level is beginning to be defined by the physical game again. 442s about the place, all about sending the ball up the pitch, competing physically in every position and much less focused on the delicate side of the game. The pendulum always swings eventually but at the moment it's heading more towards the kind of style Nathan Jones goes for which is interesting. I wonder how he'd do in the Premier League the way it is now with the ability to sign the kind of players he wants. Likely much better than his first time round.
    Which top teams play 442?

Liverpool, Arsenal, City, Chelsea, Newcastle are all 433 with two wide attackers and a central striker.

You beat me to it.  4-4-2 in the PL now is rarely than rocking horse shit.

Its 4-3-3 (or effectively 4-2-3-1) or 3 at the back with a 5-3-2 or a more modern 3-4-3 with two coaches playing it with different levels of success, Glasner & Amorin.
  • I just went through the last weekend's lineups for every club in the Premier League and not one of them lined up 442?
