I think a lot of Sheffield United’s problems are that they have a really good squad of great individual players, but there hasn’t been much thought to how they fit together as a squad/team.
Hamer is their best player, but O’Hare is also one of their best players and they play the same position, so Hamer ends up out on the left (or out of the team in Selles last game). I think the owners were hoping to sell Hamer this summer and maybe reinvest in the rest of the team, but it didn’t happen and they ended up panic buying poorly at the end of the window instead

I think this is probably accurate, if you looked at things like passing stats or xG etc etc then Hamer is a "better" player than (for arguments sake) Docherty... but Docherty has a specific job in a team/formation that he was chosen for, whereas Utd were just a collection of 11 players to a certain extent.
I think Wilder will probably do enough to at least keep them up by the end of the season but there's a distinct lack of overall vision compared to Jones’s very definite plan.
They do have some good players but there is something missing. I can't see them getting promoted but they shouldn't be at the bottom. A problem they have is I think this is their final year of parachute payments. Mind you, Luton have a bigger problem in terms of that. And it is not a good look, sacking your manager, then sacking his replacement and bringing back the manager you sacked a few months earlier. It suggests a club which is badly run and rudderless.
Wilder should come out and say that this season is about staying up and next season is about having a push for promotion. A bit like Nathan Jones did with us but at a lower level.

I spent most of the 10 minutes trying to work out if he was wearing lederhosen
edited with even better image. huge gaping goal to aim at to GKs right, or the roof of the net, but that's going straight at the keepers body. that's not where you should be aiming for!!
Imo he just hit it as it came to him. No time to think about where to place it. Just hit & hope. 50% of the time it goes in, 50% the keeper saves it or is blocked by the defender. In recent times the percentages for us have been 10/90 (Leicester comes to mind). On this occasion it went in. No point dwelling on it. Move on.
Our defence is superb, let’s be honest. Soak it up and take one of the many chances.
Be nice if we could take more than one but this is still early season with a striker who doesn’t look confident. You hope that the goals will come more freely in the not too distant future
I like Olaofe and of course was delighted with the winner, but he's lucky that went in because it was actually a poor finish considering half the goal was gaping and he hit it straight at the keeper.

So Tanto gets the three point winner in the 90th minutes away in the rain, but it wasn't a good enough goal. On the up side the ball burst during the game.
At the game, bloody fantastic, the emotion in the away end when we scored was something to behold. I was battered from left and right, everyone was leaping around with the enjoyment of the moment. Enjoyed some of the chants at the ground today. As you know, they also have a player called Tyreese Campbell ( notice the slight spelling difference) When he was on the ball, the Charlton faithful started singing, ' You're just a shit Tyreece Campbell, shit Tyreece Campbell.........' The other one I enjoyed, rather childishly, was when Wilder came onto the pitch after the final whistle, and our fans started chanting ' Sacked in the morning, you'll be sacked in the morning....etc' A perfect awayday performance, strong defensively, was impressed with Burkes performance, Bree had a few sloppy moments in the first half, but grew into the game and came on strong in the second half. Nathan's game changers came on and applied the pressure on their back line for the last ten minutes, resulting in the goal. To cap it all I ended up on the train to Manchester with Steve Brown and Gavin Carter. They were off to Dumfries for the RSK AGM, on Monday, giving a presentation about how the sponsorship is going. Steve Brown had organised the trains, using trainline, but their were gaps in trainlines information about the three changes they needed to make. Using Realtimetrains, I was at least able to point them to the right train and platform at Manchester, hope they got to Dumfries OK. Call us trainspotters! I've never met either of them before, Steve Brown was such a lovely fella, and he thanked me for sorting out the train connection at Manchester. Gavin Carter was also engaging, and asked me why I was a season ticket holder, living in Manchester. I now officially love Steve Brown, and Gavin Carter looks like a steady hand at the wheel. Only downside, they were drinking Budweiser on the train! Shame on them!! What about some decent English beer.
