It is interesting watching us. As has been said, when you watch us, we look weaker than last season but we don't let goals in. When you have teams that sit back, we have difficulty breaking them down. I think it might help if we play with an extra attacker /midfielder against the genuinely weaker sides. If you look at Sunday, our goal was a crazy one. There wasn't great pace on the shot and their keeper just let it go in amazingly thinking it was going wide. You have to give Hills a lot of credit for what she is doing and maybe she will be backed in the next window to get us over the line. Even with a four point lead, we are not strong enough to assume we are going to finish top two.3

England's qualifying group for the 2027 World Cup is Spain, Iceland and Ukraine. The winner of the group qualifies, second and third go into 2 rounds of playoffs in which they will be the seeded team in both rounds, so are also very likely to be among the 11 qualifiers. Winning the group will be tough but doable, making the seeded part of the playoffs should be a walk in the park.1

I should have been, but the wife decided to twist her ankle getting off the coach at services on the way to Wrexham yesterday, so she can't walk much today. My job to play nurse nowKBslittlesis said:Anyone going today?

Not a great opening 5 mins but the good news is that Southampton appear happy to leave space for us to counter into0

I'm here. Trying to work out if I've ever seen a game with 3 recent Addicks in the opposition team.KBslittlesis said:Anyone going today?

We only score great goals3
-
Delighted for Thestrup though, that's the quality we all wanted2
-
Smart play from Thestrup but the keeper should be having nightmares about that for the rest of her life. I'll not complain though, great to see Thestrup get her first goal after a tough start1
-
A second goal? In this economy?!0
-
Keeping for that one was even worse but they all count1
-
Two lovely goals from our perspective, but the Southampton goalie’s having a mare.4

Keeper needs subbing. Alternatively, Hills might claim after the game that the team have been working on shots that bamboozle keepers into thinking they're going wide and that might actually be more believable than some of the keeping we've seen in the last couple of gamesfenaddick said:Keeping for that one was even worse but they all count3 -

Wondering if the keeper gets a shout to leave that one as she has her hands up to catch it and then just drops them0

Although we’re two up, one thing I’m noticing that’s a bit concerning today is we seem to be quite easily muscled off of the ball. We’ve clearly got some handy players, but maybe we’re lacking a bit of strength, especially in midfield. If we improved there, we’d be dominating games much more.

Flannery is a niggly player and Bradley is a good goal threat when she plays further forward or wider but neither of them is quite at the level to keep things together in a midfield two. It's a hard job to be fair and you have to be pretty brilliant to prosper there in a 343; the only successful one I can think of in recent years was Kante and Fabregas/Matic which is cheating because Kante counts as two players. It's the main reason I hate 343lordromford said:Although we’re two up, one thing I’m noticing that’s a bit concerning today is we seem to be quite easily muscled off of the ball. Was she showing Onel what he should have done 🤷🏻♂️fenaddick said:Wondering if the keeper gets a shout to leave that one as she has her hands up to catch it and then just drops them0 -
An example to the men of how to score goals even though you create very few chances and do not have much possession , the women have done so well so fat this afternoon.1

Poor poor goal to concede3
-
Hmm, just as I was thinking we'd never concede again. Don't know how we managed to leave so many players unmarked at the back post considering all our players seem to have been in our box for the past 10 minutes1
