  • One stat regarding the Championship tables over the course of the season so far that has surprised me... Charlton's away form compared to the rest of the Division (we'd be 8th on away results), is better than our home form (we'd be 10th solely on home results)

Enzo Maresca at Chelsea has made 85 changes to the starting 11 in 16 matches across all competitions this season.

That can't be good for the individual players or for any consistency with the team.

A case of 8 and 10 making 6. Love it.

In league 1, the top six prior to this weekend’s round of games picked up zero points between them losing on aggregate 17-2

The bottom 2 picked up 6 points, winning 8-1 on aggregate.

For the first time, Italy have qualified for the T20 cricket World Cup which takes place in February next year.

This means all Italian children aged 12 and under will see Italy play in a cricket World Cup, without them having played a FIFA World Cup game in their lifetime.

CR7 was sent off for the first time in his international career after 226 games, Messi was sent off in his first international match.
  • Eze is the first player with a palindromic surname to score a top flight hat trick since Albert Malam for Huddersfield against Liverpool in November 1934.

Three times in Premier League history a player has scored 10 or more goals in the first eight games of the season:

    Erling Haaland (2022/23)
    Erling Haaland (2024/25)
    Erling Haaland (2025/26)
How about top flight history?  Football didn’t start with the advent of the Premier League.

Arsenal have only lost 6 more games league games than Tottenham since they both moved into their new stadia.

Arsenal moved in 2006 and Spurs moved in 2019
“Stadia”. If I could give you two likes, I would.

If only Ekitike can do the same this weekend, you wait 91 years and it happens in consecutive weeks.

When England have done badly at football against Italy, someone in our family mentions that they’ve never beaten us at cricket. That could be about to change.

Hopefully someone will pick up the Finnish striker Saippuakivikauppias and we’ll get another one…

They've never beaten us at rugby either so we have that in reserve if their cricketers do the unthinkable against us.
  • Cardiff have lost 4 league games so far this season. Every defeat has been to a side beginning with the letter B: Bradford, Burton, Bolton and Blackpool. They are the only 4 games they've played against sides beginning with that letter.

They have also drawn 2 games, against PORT Vale and StockPORT. The only 2 games they've played against sides with Port in their name.

    They've won every other game.

    What about Kevin Lisbie-eibsil?
