Happened a couple of blocks away from me and that  was extremely upsetting to see. Not arsed in the slightest about the game, just all my thoughts go out to the person and their family.

    Fuck Pompey fans.

Looked bad you could see them giving the person CPR on the way out down the steps.
Someone said it was a legendary fan to 🙏
    Yes we've heard that.

Really don’t understand why it’s off no doubt someone will explain sometime soon.

A multitude of reasons could be the reason, including but not limited to:

A mark of respect for the person involved

Lack of relevant medical personnel at The Valley once the initial crew set off

    TV time constraints

A duty of care to the footballers regarding time between warm up, warm down and the game

Constraints regarding policing levels and time involved

The ref has a 5pm booking that he can't get out of

Plus many many more things they have to take into account when a football match is suddenly paused for a minimum of an hour

Tbf, theres now loads of Pompey wishing the fan well unconditionally, so it's obviously only a few Mr Idiots pipping up.
Fair enough, but it sounded like a few 3000 of' em...

I do think you have to have some sympathy for Pompey fans. A fair distance travelled, a the expense. Will they get the tickets refunded…. ?? We can sit on the high horse, but I doubt we would have been much different, had it been at Pompey.  The sick person, had been dealt with, and 30 mins later abandoned, with no explanation to fans as to why…..

I can't remember another match being abandoned in these circumstances. Do all other clubs employ private ambulances & crew ?

Bolton v Cheltenham, League One (Jan 2024) Abandoned after a supporter suffered a suspected cardiac arrest in the stands. Play was halted in the 29th minute, players were withdrawn, and the match was called off about 30 minutes later.

Leyton Orient v Lincoln City, League One (October 2023) The match was abandoned after 82 minutes when a medical emergency in the crowd prompted fans to run onto the pitch or sit down to draw attention. Paramedics responded, and with the individual still receiving care an hour after the initial stoppage, the referee abandoned the match.

Weymouth v Yeovil Town, National League South (April 2024) Abandoned in the 75th minute because of a medical emergency involving a spectator. An air‑ambulance landed on the pitch to attend the fan.

Nairn County v Brechin City, Highland League (five weeks ago) Called off at half-time due to a medical emergency in the crowd. Although a goal was scored before stoppage, the match was abandoned.

Maybe, but if the boot was on the other foot, and given the circumstances... I wouldn't instantly presume that they've abandoned the game for nothing more than shits and giggles - I'd wait and find out what the reasoning was before getting annoyed

Jones probably thought played it again when we have a full squad.

Don’t know why anyone continues to bother with Twitter. It’s a far-right cesspit.
It's a cesspit full-stop. The political leaning of the scum (like above) and various bots is neither here nor there.
Well, it is. The algorithm literally promotes right-wing commentary. I’m not arguing about it.
Not arguing either, this is completely the wrong place to bring politics into discussion. Shame on you and I'm not responding anymore.
    Weird

In fairness, it's easy to understand why people might be upset at having to spend more time than expected back in Portsmouth.

After having worked and lived in Pompey for a few years, i can vouch that that is not the common behaviour of their fans - i have always found them to be amongst the best fans in the land. Ok , a few knobs amongst them , but we have them too, unfortunately.
It’s not an excuse for their behaviour, but just wanted to give a balanced view.

I lived there for 3 years at uni and I disagree. Proper dregs of society place. Utter scummy filth of a football club and town of people. Honestly I came home every weekend because it was too depressing being surrounded by them.

Uneducated, pond dwelling, and it’s no surprise they did what they did today.

And just to drive home the point more, there are reports that fans were ripping seats out.

There’s a reason Southampton fans call them scummers.
Sadly have to agree with you, I was at Portsmouth Poly as it was then. Sad because of course there are good and bad everywhere and my best mate there was local, albeit he now lives in Sydney. But there is definitely something weird about the place which the club is part of. Portsmouth is actually an island. This might seem a bit daft but I think that's in their DNA.

I should imagine that was the last thing on his mind.

    Dear Admin,

Can you please close this thread whilst emotions are really high?
There are some things that I want to say but I am both upset and angry and keeping my emotions are kept in check. The person's name should not be made public until we know the situation and his family are aware?

    Many thanks

    Paul

Think Bree's delivery will be crucial today, Pompey have struggled from set pieces this season
Thanks... You've cursed us... Referee wont give us a single set piece now ;)
    You were correct.
