Well let’s see where we are when I wake up0
-
Wow. Marnus gives his wicket up first ball after the lunch break.
94-31 -
Haha Marnus with one of the softest dismissals I’ve ever seen. What was that?!?0
-
Two in three balls!!! Green gone!
94-41 -
Both wickets: c Carse b Archer
Archer’s figures now 3-7 off 6.3 ovs1 -
Carey in at 60
-
That is silly hahaha0
-
33-1 and 33-2
94-3 and 94-4
One wicket is bringing two today..0 -
50 for Khawaja, after being dropped on 50
-
I see we are back to serving up pies. I actually missed the 2 quick wickets straight after lunch as I was watching something else.
Think I might go back to watching something else as this is painful.0 -

Swann and Prior are a painful duo.2
-
Breakthrough for Jacks!
185-5
Khawaja gone in the 80s0 -
194-5 at tea.
100 runs for 3 wickets in the session0 -
Wicket for Tongue! Bowls Inglis for 32.
244-61 -
Someone will have to convince me that Adil Rashid wouldn't be a better option. Jeez....even Root would be a better option.0
-
Carse gets Cummins for 13, caught at short leg - Cummins reviews but Snicko shows a spike as ball passes bat
271-70 -
321-8
Jacks gets Carey for 106 - big sweep loops in the air and caught by Smith0 -
Can’t believe we are going to play five tests without a spinner in the team.1
-
326-8 from 83 ovs at stumps
Starc 33 n/o
Lyon 0 n/o0 -
Jacks is a very good batsman and a superb fielder.
The only way for him to improve as a spin option is for him to play as much Red ball cricket as he can in July and August.
There lies the problem1 -

Not too bad of a day bar Brook dropping Khawaja.
Just got to capitalise with the bat so I don't wake up tomorrow morning to 160-6 with the top order collapsing to Starc.0 -
The headline score feels about even, maybe even slightly under par as a score. You have to suspect that the combination of England bowling badly and the Aussies generously giving their wickets away won't repeat when they bat again so a lot depends on which of the two sides pulls itself together.
There's a possibility we win the test from here. We'd be miles ahead if we'd bowled with any intelligence. But to save the series we need to Aussies to self-destruct in all three matches and that's not realistic.0 -
Listen. We've told you this on more than one occasion. He does not want to play Test cricket. Full stop. He will be 38 in February, has a lucrative central contract as well as various franchise commitments around the world, hasn't played red ball cricket for four years and his body can't take that.golfaddick said:Someone will have to convince me that Adil Rashid wouldn't be a better option. Apart from that, he might be a good option.4 -
Langer says this is a road and Carey proved that by hitting so many on the up. But (and there's always a "but") we have to get a significant first innings lead because he says the difference could be Lyon bowling last. To quote him "England will have to bat just once or, at worst, have to chase a minimal total".
94-4 to 326-8 is disappointing but that was still our day.2 -

Jacks is probably never going to be the answer but it's the cards they've dealt themselves with how they've managed things with spinners in recent years.
Replacing Rashid in white ball is another scary conversation that's going to be coming up for the management. I guess you've got Rehan Ahmed and they had a brief look at Jafar Chohan too.

Caught up on the highlights.
Feel like DRS has been very suspect this series, with them happy to give Jamie Smith out after 5 minutes of looking at a gap between the bat and ball, and mentioning dodgy frame rates.
Yet when it comes to Carey the sound is 'slightly before' and it's not out - frame rates fine are they?
Anyway, England should have been watching Khawaja closely - left anything wide, hit anything at the stumps, got 82 - good wicket to bat on if you're sensible. We probably won't be.

Apparently the Snicko company are taking responsibility:

Amazing how all these issues seem to be benefitting the Aussies.3 -
I'm sure the Aussie media will really dig into Carey for not walkingNorth Lower Neil said:Apparently the Snicko company are taking responsibility:

England losing a review for a blatant error by the Snicko operator makes this even more ridiculous. At least we should have the review back.2

Deep down we all know that is exactly what is about to happen.0
