Me and 4 pals have all signed up to the big half Mrs got me the runna app for 12 months for Xmas. So am starting off with a path to 5k for 8 weeks
    followed by a 5k - 10k plan for 8 weeks
4 weeks of doing regular runs at distance of 7-10k
then will do a half marathon plan so I’m ready for the big half.

Have booked a gait analysis for a couple of weekends time is this a good thing to do when purchasing trainers?
I've signed up to this too, see it's sold out already. Looking forward to it

Ran the Olympic Park 10km this weekend, placed 199th out of 301 runners. Considering I was 135kg this time last year and could barely run 1km, I'll take it.

59:50, sub 1hour too. Best believe I was sprinting to the finish line haha

How did you find it @DoctorCharlton

I’ve looked at those regular events over Olympic Park before but not done one yet.

I’m also signed up for Big Half again, looking to improve my pathetic attempt last year

First race for me so nothing to compare it against but really enjoyed it. Really easy registration process, race photos and medal included. Marshalls were amazing, think it's worth the £30 registration fee.

I've signed up again for the March event.

Victoria Dock Parkrun has announced it is closing today (presumably through the amount of hard work getting enough volunteers each week rather than all you homers not touristing…)
Shame as I’d not managed to get there yet but on the plus side it makes me one closer to Lon-done….
  • Essential to volunteer occasionally at park run, otherwise it will be lost. There are people who have completed over 100 park runs and never volunteered. I believe 10% is an achievable figure for volunteering.

Yup.  I try to do about one a month or so.  It's not like you can't run a 5k before or after if you need to.

I really like the big half but have missed the cut-off for it. Hoping my running club gets some spots which I managed to nab one last year. Got the London winter 10k in a few weeks.
  • A spot of parkrun tourism was the order of the day for yesterday, so I ventured over to Surrey to do Brooklands.
It is held on the site of the old racing circuit and next door to Mercedes Benz World.
A really strange course as you run part of the two lapper on a former go cart track, which makes for lots of twists and turns.
Well worth a visit, very busy, but very well marshalled and I managed to get round in a respectable time.
No parkrun for myself next Saturday due to the early Kick-off at the Den, hopefully l'll be celebrating long into the night COYR

Been struggling with various things over the last month, clearly taken its toll as really struggled with yesterday’s run.

Feel a long way from fitness at the moment

Snap. Except I've not been right for more than two months now for various reasons, some psychological. Finally got back to it yesterday, with a slow time for me of over 30, but I chose a very congested course where you need to allow an additional half a minute at least. I would have been under expectation otherwise. That was my 301st. Hopefully can get back into the routine now.

Sorry to hear that. Try and keep the running up, it'll clear your head and the fitness will return sooner or later.
