Reflects very badly on club if a non match fit player with 0 Championship experience was our first choice lwbDDOUBLEE said:And I'm not even having this bollocks that Chambers was supposedly our "first choice" to sign. No way.19 -
Yes the players stayed on but the formation changed and we moved a forward to a LB position which left us wide open.Dazzler21 said:
Disagree that the changes cost us, the players that started and stayed on (TC aside) saw decisions weren't going our way and gave up. JRC kept giving up after every pass, or time he was tackled. The frustration was clear but rather than battle, we just seemed to go into hiding.TD_Addick said:We were half decent 1st half, their first was offside and Dykes was never a handball would have been 0-1. It’s the tactics and changes 2nd half that cost us which comes down to the manager.1 -
We need to changed our manager even if it’s just got the new manager bounce . I can’t see us winning again under his bizarre team tactics and substitution's .8

And as for Lou Costello. Powder puff.1

You can’t put a positive spin on this game. We were outdone for 90 minutes, that’s the main issue.RonnieMoore said:Think it’s a harsh result we were in that for long periods .. first goal clear offside , our goal perfectly good goal and suddenly we got one goal lead to defend … but Jones got it wrong from the start and got it wrong at HT .. …. Azeez the difference Millwall got him we got Campbell that’s the difference when you have someone who can create and cross the ball … we got three home games now he got to get it right no more fav like Campbell and Anderson .. time for Apter time for Kelman and Godden up top .. time to change the system .All you want is the ref to make the right decsions today if we had VAR. we would have been leading 0-1 heading into last 10 mins different game … Coventry at home Pompey away poor decsions by the ref cost us but they get away with it2 -
People saying we were in it until the 80th minute…were we though? They should have been 3-0 up at half time….let me say it now do not play Fullah…he’s not ready…send him out on loan17
-
Jones throw it with the lineup, and then made it even worse with the half-time sub, its like he wants to be sacked at this point12
-
First half felt they weren't very good at all, and us just a bit worse. Watching without sound may have helped me.
Only just learnt he took off Chambers and Carey (half time?) and i don't understand that. Chambers was beaten a few times but also got forward well.
We just don't play through the thirds, like a normal team, and yes, clearly it's getting worse no matter what Jones tries, and he tries everything as if the pieces will fall into place by magic.
Falling out with Docherty seems to coincide with this slide. Just all too weird. It's not just poor cohesion, it's close to zero cohesion for spells of a game and it's getting worse every game, and that's inexcusable.

If he has been given any advice the first thing has to be for an apology to the supporters of Charlton Athletic Football Club.kinveachyaddick said:Jones will need to be careful what he says post-match
Ive even got spanners messaging me saying ‘You couldn’t even be bothered to try’1 -
We were in it for 80 minutes it was 1-0 so technically we still had a chance.ct_addick said:People saying we were in it until the 80th minute…were we though? They should have been 3-0 up at half time….let me say it now do not play Fullah…he’s not ready…send him out on loan1 -

On the positive side
Chambers looked good. But wtf do you spend weeks knowing you need a lwb then sign an unfit one?
Madness15 -
Spent all week telling us they know they’ve got to be up for it and they give that performance. What the fuck is going on behind the scenes, team selection, players disappearing on and off the pitch, no.1 target can only play 45mins, we look clueless. Something feels very off, I’m not just saying it because it was against the scum, but that was pathetic. Players that looked ok just look shite, biggest example Ramsay. What’s going on with him.6
-
A few people seemed to think tsking Chambers off was a good move. He was always going to have a tough afternoon against Azzez but if that was a tactical change it was a doozie, as they overran us second half. Campbell did his best, as did Jones, Carey and Dykes. But they have a better squad, better players and confidence. We need a big turn around and a quality injection next week.0

Alex Neil is a good manager and tactically astute. Charlton left side weakness is apparent to everone for months - apparently not the Charlton hierarchy, owners or club, who have not moved to address this despite the injuries to Bell and Edwards - or by Jones to find a different way to play.Alex Neil set up Azeez from the right fired accross dangerous crosses to the right back position. Ramsey was bullied and targeted throughout. Azeez then moved accross to the left to torment Ramsey directly.Campbell was lively first half 1st half but is no left wing back and moving him takes away his attacking threat.Millwall should have been 3-0 up half time and could easily have scored 6 or 7 and got in consistently decent attacking positions. So many decent crosses from the right side in particular.Following 3 other changes, it settled for a bit, but Dykes was unlucky to be penalised at 0-1 by ref, who bottled the decision. A goal and an underserved 1-1 possible (but still unlikely).Neil reorganised and Jones brought on Godden, for a battered and badly tiring team. 4-0 is not a scoreline that flattered them. That Millwall team - manager to manager, investment by owners, outfield players and set up is at a higher level. It showed on the pitch.Nathan Jones strategic skill is being exposed by a weak squad, but what manager is going to do better with a league one team and gaping left sided weaknesses in the team not being addressed ?

Genuinely don't see changing manager as the answer, too many not fully fit players at the back. First half was ok , they were better than us but we were showing. Second half we ran out of steam , lost all the 50/50 moments. Players like Lloyd Jones weren't doing that earlier in the season. We are needing players coming back to be 100% and they aren,t.
Its going to be a battle but if you had said we would be this far into the season without being bottom 3 we would all have taken it.5 -
TC in the first half, despite going to ground pretty easy, was the only brightspark in that. We somehow went from still just about being in it to completely giving up and allowing them to just come at us and run out 4-0 winners.
Ramsay didn't even have a head to lose, he was so out of the game he was never in it.
The majority, if not all of that is on Jones, totally baffling management today, the starting midfield and then sloting Campbell back after being our main (only attacking threat) - Man's a football terrorist.
Azeez, crama, Doughty, coburn some decent players there and really shows up the gulf in class between us and the rest of the division, crazy.
Makes all the people taking jabs at those who thought the Pompey and Blackburn games were must win, and being furious at chucking away 1 and 2 points look pretty silly, yes there was (is) still points and wins up for grabs but - we absolutely had to capitalise on the shite around us as it's going to be a long hard remainder of the season.
Fcking Millwall7 -
Well Nathan....im looking forward to more of you're bollocks after yet another disgraceful performance. Can we at least pretend that we want to win a football match? Its boring, its predictable and it will get us relegated. Dare I say it,you could be coming under pressure if you don't turn things around over the next couple of home games.5
-
In truth it was what we all expected and if it had finished on time the scoreline would have papered over another woeful performance, devoid of any creativity or character which the hosts had in abundance.
I think we were all pleasantly surprised by all the pre season spending but theyre all looking like poor buys. If we do manage to scrape thru this season and retain our League status we will need to spend considerably more to improve. The question is whether NJ has the creative/offensive nouse, which has been called into question by many of our opposition fans.3 -
Embarrassing shambles.Jones seems to have no plan B and won’t give up on trying to make plan A work even though it hasn’t for months.
Ive been a jones fan for a long time, but today is the first time im starting to question his ability to keep us up15 -

If Ramsay concentrated as hard on his game as he does in wearing and encouraging others to wear that stupid bandage on his hand , we might be a better side .

Jones needs to be absolutely fucking honest about what’s going on, no bullshit blaming other people, start trying to play some football for a start.6
-
Time for a change.
I can’t cope with being back in League 1 next season. Roll the dice, on who I’m not sure but we have to prioritise these next 18 games, even if it’s a short term appointment to get a bounce and regroup in the summer, we need wins and we look so far away from beating anyone (with 11 players) it’s ridiculous.
Jones and his dated and abysmal brand of football is taking us down, no two ways about it. His style might work in League 1 for a bit but not in the championship. We might not get a chance like this again for years, we could be in league 1 for another 4/5 years we know how hard it is to get out of. As I said, I can’t do that again.Roll the dice and sack Jones tonight.11 -
Left side weak yes but they targeted Ramsay as well…can see now why he ended up at Harrogatevff said:Alex Neil is a good manager and tactically astute. What was the reaction at the end of the game. Clapping players or booing? I couldn’t face staying when they got a penatly0
-
First half we were halfway decent; second half was no less than an embarrassing capitlation. Always second to the ball, powder puff tackles, zero goal threat. Millwall were better than us in the first half and improved in the second while we deteriorated rapidly.
Ramsay has gone backwards. Giliesphey continues to flounder. Anderson must have compromising photos of NJ to keep getting picked to start. Kelman looks like he's running through treacle.
Luke Chambers did ok and I was surprised he was subbed so early. I suppose we are just managing his return to competitive football.
We are proper shit.9 -
I've been a big Ramsay fan but since that sending off he's lost all confidence.11

You forgot (No fighting spirit). But other than that you are correct.SELR_addicks said:I know emotions will be running high.
But this is a wider issue than just this game.
We have 9 points from the last 14 or so games. 3 of those against a 9-man team (even if people tried to claim it was a difficult game?)
We are the worst attacking side in the league bar maybe Sheffield Wednesday. We look utterly clueless past the half-way line and have been like this for 3 months.
In January we've bought a lump up front, a half-fit LB, a replacement RB and no midfielders to improve chance creation.0 -
Knew we were going to lose, esp after seeing the line-up. I will probably get pelters on here but our Academy lads aren't up to it. TC the best of the bunch but even again today he falls over too much & no end product (apart from 1 shot). Fullah too young & Anderson League 1 at best. Money needed to be spent on stronger & more experienced players. Too late now & 75% chance that we will get relegated.
I didnt matter who we played today we would have still lost. No creativity & just not good enough. Clarke looks a good signing & Chambers did his best for someone who has had 2 reserve matches all season. Ramsay had a poor game but I felt JRC & Carey did ok.

Expected nothing else - move on, stay up, watch them fuck up as usual3
