  • A fair few of the players just didn’t look like they cared
    Ok who?

I'd agree most of them were various degrees of hopeless but who do you think didn't care or wasn't trying? care

Ok, so it's probably worth trying to put a few things to bed. No

One: Apter has had a major falling out with the Manager, well he named him on the bench so they must have kissed and made up.

Two ; Get rid of the manager, we have had experience of this boards choice of Manager and I don't particularly want another Appleton and I get it that Nathan Jones is a bit marmite but I don't think changing the manager will help.

Three : There might be a very good reason why Docherty is not involved, it might even be personal, but one thing Nathan Jones is good at is 'need to know situations' and at the moment, we don't need to know.

Four : Player acquisition in the summer, it seems to me that we tried to buy the best of the rest in div one, some have worked some haven't, but we finished the season late and most the championship players would have found clubs by the time we started looking, which is why we looked at a club who were looking to off load contracts that they couldn't possibly afford to pay after they were relegated, Luton Town, also it could be argued that we better with Amari Bell and Burke than without them.

Summing up, I know we are pissed off but it isn't the first time I've seen Charlton piss their pants at Millwall, six days left of the window, the board can be under no illusions now, get behind the team, and those players need to understand, they will get our backing when they earn it, they certainly didn't earn it today, so they owe us.
Five - continue to be stubborn and continue you with what doesn’t work….

for me, I think Jones is great for our club, but his continued stubbornness of the same style and tactic, which isn’t working, or continue to do so when you have injuries is starting to grind on me. And then blame fans or lack of recruitment, jog on mate… he has supported and funded as well as any manager in Charlton’s history.

We recruited players, who are just not set of this style. And they are all playing top mo sh do

Come back Steve Gallen, all is forgiven.
  • Not sure this Charlton team have what it takes to stay up. Deficiencies all over the pitch. Manager who every season goes through a period of wearing blinkers. Unless this week brings in some genuine quality then I think we’ll be back down with the dead men next season.
I have been reading the CL site for the last 7 or 8 years and have always looked at you and one or two others as a voice of balance and reason on this site, Shooters old chap.
When I read posts like this from you, I am starting to get a bit worried. Not that you are bonkers, rather that you might be right!

I wish they would stop playing out from the bacl, if that is what it can be called, other than Bell none of them capable of keeping the ball under the press or beating the man who is pressing them. So they resort to panic passes normaly ending up at the feet of the opposition players only 20 yards out or less.
  • Can someone name a source for the ‘Jones has lost the dressing room’ rumours?

Is it the same source as the last time he lost the dressing room when that wasn’t true?

All well and good taking responsibility for the defeat but what you gonna do about it? I have no faith that it’s gonna be resolved in the slightest.

more tinkering and confusion, more players pissed off with treatment and the same rigid clueless tactics.

    patience is running out.

  • Also, to suggest players aren’t trying is absolutely fucking ridiculous.

outclassed, yes. They’re not not trying. They’re just rudderless at the moment

Or just lumping it up field, which they could’ve done straight from the goal kick.

Still a Jones supporter but he’s trying my patience now with his stubbornness

Actually liked his post match interview and I think we might actually see a bit of a reaction / change - we have to.

I’m hopeful we can get a couple more bodies in this week.

I also still believe had we had Bell / Edwards for the last few months we’d be a good 10/12 points better off and not worried at all.

Those 2 injuries have killed the whole balance of the side.

There simply has to be a reaction to that display today though

Jones didn't take any accountability in the charlton v interview. Just blamed players.
"I am not one to apologise normally because I know most of the time, my team gives me everything. But what we put out today was embarassing. We were second best, we got bullied, we were outfought in every level and everything we did today...... I apologise to the fans, and today I have to because of the nature of defeat, today we were so far off."
Yeah but apart from the part where he apologises…!
Apologising isn't the same as taking personal accountability.

Edit... in fact "I've not had a group do that to me in a long, long time..." Is the opposite of taking responsibility.

Looks like we could be playing a Leicester side next week, under new management. Rumours that Cifuntes about to be sacked.

Less risky than being caught out near your own goal, and gives us a better chance, just of the quick break away goal. Because playing out from the back at best is slow and tedious, gives the opponents plenty of time to set up.,to win the ball back.

Great, so Leicester will have their new manager bounce (not that they need anything to defeat our useless bunch of "footballers")

I like him, but if by some fluke chance we still play Millwall next season, I don’t want Kane Ramsay to even be in the country.

Two absolute shitshow performances this season

Playing Bell in an 8pm kick-off on the coldest night of the winter against Chelsea could prove to have been a costly misjudgement

I was told by that today by someone who is involved with our medical department.

Also, if you take a look at the other site (Into the Valley) there are a number of posters saying exactly the same.

I actually don’t know if it is true, but I am sharing what I have been told.

I can’t buy the apologies and the it’s not good enough from both Nathan & Lloyd Jones’ interviews.  They must’ve known what they were up against.  A local rival, a derby in which our record is abysmal and we are firmly in a relegation scrap to boot, coming off the back of a defeat at home on Tuesday and scraping past 9 men against Sheff Utd.  To then hear we were second best, bullied etc, what the f*** did they think they were walking into today?

Millwall are a good team and we were always up against it today, but the way it unfolded was embarrassing.  Ramsay completely switches off for the first, and then we’re chasing.  They at least looked like they were competing in the first half, it was just down to Millwall’s press and talent on the ball that we were struggling.  The second half is unexplainable.  1 down, you think Jones will get them fired up and they’ll come out fighting.  The first five minutes it was like watching a bunch of pensioners doing their morning shop on a high street.  Plodding around.  I must admit I switched off when Azeez scored the header, I was that fed up with the manner of the goal, I had no idea it was disallowed until I checked the score and turned back on on 70 minutes, completely deluded thinking it’s only 1-0, I can’t believe we’re still in it.  No worries though, we dully obliged when they got the second and the TV was turned off again.

I genuinely thought how the crap did that turn into 4-0 when I checked again at FT, not because the manner of the game suggested we deserved much better, but more in the hope that professionalism dictates they couldn’t get much worse.  They did.

As I mentioned above, Jones is done for me.  I don’t see him changing it, his team selections have been baffling of recent weeks, and yes, we’ve been screwed re some key injuries this season, but it’s clear he’s losing it.

Kelman came back and got that goal against Oxford and looked a real class act, intelligent and what we’d been missing up top.  2 goals at Blackburn and it’s the third game in a row he’s been bombed out in back to the bench.  Baffling.

The constant tinkering of the middle three.  JRC shines in the Coventry game, all of sudden it’s where can we fit Anderson in.  Coventry might not be in the Cullen mould, but he’s the best in that position, yet he also sees himself being dropped.  I rate Carey and thank him for his contribution this season, but he’s been crap for a long time now.  He’s a total passenger and if any one of the three should be dropped, he’s definitely up there.

After that interview there’s no other way back for Jones other than a proper performance next week and none of this scraping a draw with a dogged performance bollocks.  Leicester are a mess.  No disrespect to Oxford, and even though we were dogshit today, it’s a game we should be looking to win.  For me, I don’t want to see anything less than 3pts, and if we do only get a point, it has to be a point where we took the game to them.  I don’t want to see a textbook NJ team setup.  I want him to show he’s genuinely taken action on the words post match today, can show versatility and pay the fans back for that utter shit show.

And should be dropped next week.  Players have got to start being held to account for crap games.  I know we’ve been hit with injuries badly at the back this season, it’s not as if Burke is reliable fitness wise, but stick him there if he can play and drop Ramsay

But we knew the left side problem long before the window opened - they should have signed a left back on 2nd Jan, not a risky loan signing as we have done.

No excuses - piss poor planning

I’m afraid newly promoted teams always get sussed out after a few months of the season, that’s why you’ve got to have a Plan B which at the moment we haven’t got.
