I think I'd prefer someone like Kiely, who focused on doing a damned good job at keeping the ball out of the net, rather than being able to kick straight - Never overly hurt us too badly when we were in the Premier League?
Could Kaminski etc. put in a Goalkeeping display like Deano did @ St. Andrews?

Sam Bartram isn't so much turning in his grave as boring a hole through the centre of the earth lol

Kaminski has kept us in many games this year not just one.

Kiely was a good keeper but he wouldn't last a half in today's game when keepers play so much with their feet. How many times would Kiely kick the ball straight out from a goal kick? All the time, the game requires so much more of keepers now. He is our most complete keeper so I would say he's the best we have had

He's not amazing but he's nowhere near as bad as some are trying to make him out to be, most keepers are going to let in a few goals if the hapless c***s ahead of him let the opposition have 23 fucking shots!

If he don’t flap for the first goal could have been different game (could have, not would have been) big problem

Some of his passing today just put us under unnecessary pressure. What's the point in a short goal kick if the defender is going to be closed down immediately and has to rush the clearance?

He doesn’t ever come off his line! Unless you do that, you are not a good keeper. You are part of the defence and you see everything infront of you. He hesitates all the time!! He’s made his name from shot stopping!

    Absolutely woeful today.

Handed them their first by patting the ball at Ramsey when he could have caught it.

Awful passes he was lucky to get away with on two occasions to our CBs.

Patted another one out to the middle of the box in the first half that he got away with.

Barely came for anything in the air which piles the pressure on our defence.

He is a relegation keeper and this is looking like his third in a row.  Shocking keeper.

He needs to learn to push the ball to the sides behind him not in front

It would be helpful if he could catch
  • There were lots of areas this team needed to improve in for the Championship.

The goal keeping department was probably at the bottom of this list.

It highlights again poor recruitment and an allocation of the resources which could’ve been used elsewhere more efficiently

I was critical of him for the goal at the spanners home game and i've not seen much to change my mind. Yesterday, he caused confusion by not coming over his line and we were defending like a Sunday morning team.
  • Really disappointing signing, gets plaudits for making regulation saves and then costs us a goal every 3 games.

Won us 3 at Sheffield United, 1 at Coventry, 2 at West Brom, 3 at Ipswich. Lost us 1 at QPR, 2 at Millwall, 2 at Swansea, 1 at Pompey, 1 at Derby.
    Won 9 points
    Lost 7 points.

i think he’s doing ok not amazing but not awful. His wages fee and reputation though probably put a lot of fans expectations much higher than most other players in our squad

  • Carson and deano best two in recent times. This current so called number 1 is bang average at best but thats what we are.

He was visibly shaken after the first goal against Millwall, it clearly knocked his confidence - which is probably already low. That is not a good sign in a goalkeeper.

My biggest frustration is how slow he is off his line to sweep balls up in behind; it's hard to know if that is his decision making and style of play, or if those are the instructions for our set up. Either way it's cost us a few times this year.

It's a bit unfair to compare TK like for like with Mannion's performances last year as the nature of those games, the opposition and our level of control in most games is so different to the ones we are now playing. I would stick with him, but think he needs to try and control his box a bit better: both aerially, in terms of claiming crosses, and sweeping balls up.

Leopards don’t change their spots, he’s a stay at home keeper as the Luton fans warned us he would be I’m afraid. Very good shot stopper but that’s not enough when your defence needs all the help it can get.

I did feel for him after the first goal. He probably should have caught it but he actually did push it away from traditional danger. The issue was he didn't know where Ramsay was but more importantly, Ramsay didn't know where the ball was because he didn't look at it once. Funnily enough, if Ramsay hits the deck and lets Coburn outmuscle him that save probably just goes out for a corner

I’m not saying that Saturday was a vintage performance by any means, but he’s still a significantly better ‘keeper than Mannion.

It was at the top of the list. The keepers we had in L1 weren't even our first choice keepers for that league. AMB is nowhere near it even at that level and Mannion was brought in to be understudy for an experienced number one. We couldn't get one despite numerous attempts and ended up having to trust what we had. Mannion got pelters on here at the start of the season, got injured and then AMB kept his place for a while because we'd figured out our defence until he also got injured and Mannion came back in. Mannion grew in confidence as our run went on and he was very good at being aerially dominant in the late stages of games but the way he's been built up as an English Buffon since then is nonsense. I like him, I think fans were too harsh on him in the early stages of the season but he was and is very much a decent L1 level keeper who you hope can fill in as a backup in the Championship at a pinch. He is 27 and has never played a game at Championship level. We very much needed to upgrade on that position and we chose an experienced keeper who has Premier League experience and more Championship appearances than anyone else in our squad. I don't think he's been quite as good as I'd hoped but the idea that we were wrong to spend a little bit on upgrading that area is insane. You realise if we hadn't there were 8 games at the start of this season where Mannion was out and we would have had to play AMB because apparently recruiting a new keeper wasn't necessary?

Watching the games lad, look at games where he has made top saves to keep us in games and mistakes that have cost us goals which has resulted in draws/losses. Sometimes it can be subjective but a lot of the time it’s common sense

He's genuinely bad in goal. The only reason he doesn't get pelters is because of his background of playing in the prem and being a championship regular. I feel people are desperately clinging on to something to justify the wasted wages. If we had picked him up from let's say a League 1 or 2 side, and he didn't come with a reputation of being a decent 'shot stopper', then I reckon people would have given up on him a while ago.

Imho, one of the worst signings we have made pound for pound in ages, right up there. When you consider the alleged (I've heard very true) wages, that he cost a fee, and hasn't won us many points.

Mannion deserves a chance, a bloke who isn't terrified to leave his line and using the same justification as to why Nathan Jones shouldn't be sacked as he got us promoted, we wouldn't be in this league if it wasn't for Mannion's Wembley performance.
