Moans and makes excuses his recruitments been so poor in general, didn’t he sign ahadme as well? Not like he hasn’t been backed.3

IMO he's a manager that would suit this squad. I don't think Jones can come back from this.charlton_hero said:

To replace a manager who’s won 2/14 but has kept us out of the same relegation places so far in the same season!

It was rumoured on here after the Crawley defeat last season that Carter called him in for a meeting and told him things needed to improve. Obviously no idea if that is true.
Even if it wasn't, it's what needs to happen this week.
And Jones himself needs to realise he is drinking in the last chance saloon and it is time to try something different. If it carries on going wrong here and he is sacked, I doubt he will get another chance at a Championship club. In fact, I suspect his only chance of further work will be at some hopeless case like Shrewsbury. Fail there, and the chances are he will fall off the managerial roundabout for good.

I know he’s unlikely to be given the boot, but I wonder if he realizes just how bad his reputation among the fan base has taken a hit after y’day?Up until y’day I had faith and belief that we were going to stay up under him, but that performance, against our biggest rivals, has pretty much wiped all admiration and respect I have for him.I really do see him now as a busted flush. I understand it’s a question of who we bring in to replace him if he did go, but I have no faith anymore. He’s got to get some wins in the next couple of games to have any chance of turning this around1

If we don't get quality players in this week and the losing continues then he's gone in my opinion. I can see Curtis Fleming taking charge as well.
Yesterday was unforgivable, the worst capitulation against Millwall in 50 years. There fans were saying last night that wasn't even a derby, pathetic and almost sad...
I'm not sure if we can turn this around but there's still hope but it's flipping thin.

Nathan Jones will always be a Charlton manager that got beat 4-0 at the den. I'm 60 in two months, brought up on the above.Look at forest on their third manager this season. Frank is likely gone at spurs in less than a season, Manning at Norwich. It’s a huge financial risk to give someone that long a contract3 -
Exactly, he got paid 10k plus for that yesterday, the fans paid £100 plus to watch it.Croydon said:His comment about how he'd had a worse day than the fans yesterday sums the bloke up. Unhealthy ego on him4 -

You cannot keep a manager how refuses to adapt. He is refusing to change a way of playing which means our current weaknesses are constantly exposed. All teams know this and target it.We have players who he does not trust but that does not make them bad players. We need them and we need them playing in the positions they can play best.3
-
He is absolutely on borrowed time, had he fostered a decent relationship with the fans then he’d maybe getting a bit more grace. But he’s had a pop at the supporters time and again, feeling the need to remind us on how wonderful he is - wonder if he will wear his dreadful results and abject transfer dealings in quite the same way?He is in control and loves reminding us of that.Hope the board have sounded out some replacements as if it doesn’t change fast it will become toxic3

If he keeps us up and beats them next season I think it will be quickly forgottenCroydon said:

I think this is quite a ridiculous opinion. Might not get a championship job straight away (though he had offers before he came to us and added L1 promotion to his CV). But he won a league 1 promotion as recently as last season, nearly every team at that level would want him if they were looking for a managerFortune 82nd Minute said:It was rumoured on here after the Crawley defeat last season that Carter called him in for a meeting and told him things needed to improve. If he got sacked today, he’d leave us in 18th place, would be seen by most of the footballing world as him having done a brilliant job and that we were ridiculously stupid for sacking him. He’d have no trouble at all finding another job at a similar level club to us. I think we’d have more trouble ourselves finding a similar level manager to Jones..,6 -
He certainly hasn't done a brilliant job. We might be 18th but it's more relevant that we have won two games in the last 14 one of which was against 9 men.NabySarr said:

We're in a relegation fight and if we show no improvement against Leicester it will be hard to back him.1 -

Fail here, and that will be his third failure in a row at this level (or higher). Most of us here will then share the opinions of Southampton and Stoke fans on his managerial abilities.
And it's not coincidence that many fans from other clubs now chant Nathan Jones your football is s**t.
Credibility in football - and in many other places - is hard won but easily lost. Anyone in the football world who watched our performance yesterday might take issue with you that he has done a brilliant job.
Anyway, as with many things time will tell.2 -
It wasn't just that we lost 4-0, it was the manner of that defeat. They may have scored a couple of late goals to make it more emphatic, but the scoreline didn't flatter them.Croydon said:

I can't remember in over 50 years of support a worse performance against them. It was shameful and was likely from the moment the starting 11 was announced. NJ appears to have lost the plot where team and tactics selection is concerned.4 -
If my Grandma had wheels she would have been a bike. I honestly believe that Jones has taken us as far as he can. If he saves us from relegation I will give £100 to the Greenwich Hospice.NabySarr said:

His insistence of playing Campbell at left wing back as he done again 2nd half yesterday is absolutely baffling.
Even a blind person can see it doesn't work and I can only assume he keeps doing it through stubbornness.

Is he really that wrong though... The fans have turned on him, Millwall fans were goading him, we lost again and even Rodwell looked furious at him, if he's lost the dressing room that's even worse... For us it was just another loss to the dirty fuckers up the road. We hate it, but it's happened so many times even under our best managers... Why would it change yesterday?Croydon said:His comment about how he'd had a worse day than the fans yesterday sums the bloke up. Unhealthy ego on him0 -
I think those going on the “we’re overachieving” etc etc line, and the board too, need to really carefully consider 3 things:
1 - the trend above our league position - the points accrued early season were forever ago and the results in more recent times are much more likely to reflect what is coming the next 3 months, and if they do - that is relegation
2 - even being outside of the relegation zone, our budget/ spending etc is probably similar to Blackburn Pompey and also Preston have a low budget
3 - the result against Sheffield united was a complete fluke, not a we backs to the wall defended and you could argue it was a well executed smash and grab - a complete fluke, robbery. If we had been comfortably beaten as we should have been, we would now be very deservedly in the relegation zone.
these points are all added to the disgraceful occurrence yesterday.I’ve slept on this to “calm down” from yesterday. I still wouldn’t replace him but for me he’s on the precipice and I would repeat the point I made yesterday that I need to see something definitive at Leicester for him to keep going. It seems mad to say given our desperate situation but the result is almost less important than the performance - I need to see something out there which shows the players are motivated and organised and he has the ability to get a tune out of them that might get the results we need in February. After the atrocious 3 matches in the last week, if he is unable to get something better out of them at Leicester then it feels like the rumours and conclusions of many that he has lost the players etc are substantiated. I hope they’re not and they can prove the doubters wrong!0 -

Pisses me off.Yes we have to play a left back - but where in the football manual does it say that left backs have to be left-footed? Some of the greatest left backs of all time were right-footed - Santos, Fachetti and arguably the GOAT - Maldini.Do we not have any right-footed full backs who could play on the left side? Any would likely be better than our current crop of left-footers!3 -

Pisses me off.Yeaaaa... You've lost me now...TC plays Left Wing-Back, because Chambers is now our sole actual player in that position, and TC is the only alternative that can really play there... Changing the system, still requires us to play a Left-Back OR Left Wing-Back which is Chambers or Campbell. Otherwise it comes back to Naby's question... Who else do you play there0 -
