    The reality is this is a solid league one squad that is struggling in the championship. Some players are clearly struggling more than others. I love Macca for last season and I hate seeing him getting abused but he’s clearly too slow for the league. Jones signing an injury prone defender as his replacement was far from ideal but we have got very unlucky with the Edwards injury who we’ve just never replaced as Macca would look a lot more solid next to Josh
    Don’t think we were miles better first half tbh. They missed a couple of absolute sitters and we were extremely lucky to go in at HT only 1-0. 

    Early days and a tough match to be thrown in for your debut but I wasn’t particularly impressed by Chambers. We still looked very exposed on that side. Obviously being alongside gillesphey doesn’t help.

    Seen enough defeats against that lot since the mid 80’s so was not expecting to see anything other than another defeat especially with the form both sides are in. However, it’s the usual roll over attitude and not completing winning 50/50’s and just generally not getting into them that pisses me off.

    We can all see that Karoy can’t pass so playing in a deep midfield role where he can’t take the ball on the half turn and play a decent pass forward so Jones needs to own this. Should have been hooked off at half time along with Dykes who did not lay a glove on there centre half’s and replaced by Leaburn who has been one of our few in form players of late.

    The only attacking threat we had first half was TC.2nd half just a mess. How we got to 81st min and it was still 1-0 god knows. 

    At least getting away from that shithole was not as bad as previous visits.

    We’re not playing well and Leicester were in the prem last season, but they’re a mess.  They may get rid of the manager which could change the dynamic, but we should go there wanting to fix things and get a win.  It’s as winnable game as any we have coming up

    Would love to be a fly on the wall at Sparrows Lane this morning, can see Jones and Rodwell being in heated "deep conversation" about wtf happened yesterday, both blaming each other for the shit state we are in...😉

    I expected this season to be difficult but not in my wildest dreams did I expect us to be as shockingly bad as we have been in recent fixtures. We started the season okay but now look like relegation fodder.

    Starting to think NJ doesn't have a clue how to arrest this. Ramsay was shocking yesterday and there were plenty of poor performances. The capitulation at the end was pitiful.

    It was an embarrassing display and if we repeat this against Leicester then I think NJ should go. We can't afford to waste the four home fixtures in February.

    So many poor signings and no consistency in team selection - just reeks of a relegation season.

    I believe we need to make a change now, getting relegated will be a disaster, Jones is just too arrogant to change anything and falling out with your captain is not a good look. I don’t think Docherty has been great but we needed a player like him on the pitch yesterday.

And what the hell is Hylton bringing to the table, our set pieces are shocking and if we’re going to play this negative system set pieces are our main opportunity to actually score.
    We are joint 5th in the championship for set piece goals scored this season. And joint 2nd best for least amount conceded from set pieces. Danny Hylton is far from the problem here
    I see that about conceeding but can’t find any data on set pieces scored. If that’s true that’s shocking and I’d then ask why we are where we are, dreadful football in open play that rarely generates chances. 

    Opta The Analyst website has the data. We’ve scored 11 from them and only conceded 5. Would guess we get a lot less attacking set pieces than most teams and end up defending more than most too. Statistically we are one of the best in the league at set pieces 
    I hate stats like this. What is a "set piece" goal anyway ?  A goal scored from a corner or free kick ? Obviously not "direct" because I dont believe we've scored one from a free kick (maybe Gillesphey?) and cant remember too many headers from a corner going in. I think the stats might include balls that have been "recycled" which to me is just part of football.

    I would love someone to tell me how many goals we have scored this season direct from a corner / free kick. And by direct from a corner I dont mean straight in obviously but 1 touch (or 2 touches if there is a flick on or knock back). I doubt if its more than 3 or 4.

    My Mate who is a toolbox season ticket holder ( yes i know ) said it was the most one sided derby he had seen in his lifetime and it should have been double the final score if they had took their chances .

    Daniel Day Lewis won an oscar for "My left foot" and was great in "In the name of the father"

    Gary Oldman has played many great characters including Churchill, Lee Harvey Oswald & Sid Vicious.

    What decisions? We've got a mediocre squad and a manager who seems pretty clueless. Signings seem unlikely.... We keep signing poor players.

    So had a night to sleep on it and consider my opinions on what went wrong with a clearer head.

    Nope - still spitting blood at the most gutless and cowardly display on a football field I have ever seen.

    Looking at the players marks I'm surprised the newbie, Chambers is getting high marks. His defending was appalling, standing way off any attacking player. I know he's been injured for a year, but I was not enthused by my first sight of him.
    Early days, I know, but if he is going to be our left wing back saviour he needs to get up to speed quickly.

    We don't have one player like Azeez.  TC is light years away from that level and one dimensional by comparison and is our only creative outlet.

    Let's be honest only Lloyd Jones  and Amari Bell consistently put in performances worthy of championship level, with Dykes and Fullah having potential.  The rest ARE trying and doing their best but just making up the numbers.  




    Our form pretty much tracks Bell's presence.

    So much to correct but the organisation when we defend corners is astonishing. 
    That assumes we have done our homework on any specific threats.

    My view is Jones is a good manager. I want him to stay. 
    A lot of whats gone wrong is” the roll of the dice” which will change.
    I believe he is a good motivator.
    just remember the dross we have had as managers in the last 18 years. He is probably the only decent one along with Bowyer.

    I’m not disputing that he is one of a handful of decent managers since Curbs…..but we don’t win any points because of that unfortunately. 
    To say that a lot of our problems are due to “the roll of the dice” though is quite frankly ridiculous. 
    If we are to believe what we read, NJ has a lot of influence on our recruitment and should have all of the influence on the preparedness, motivation and morale of the team. 
    Whatever it is that he is doing ain’t working and it needs a fundamental change of approach. 
    We will not escape relegation by hoping that the dice suddenly starts landing differently.

    Can you imagine any Millwall player yesterday at 2-0 down having given a penalty away, still standing on the edge of the box after their keeper had saved it and the ball had been played back along the line and knocked in.  Three of ours were.  Hadn't bothered moving.

    There is a week to go in this window. What we need are proven Championship players with the priority being the left side of defence and central creative midfield. We knew that at the start of the window, and in hindsight we made the errors in the summer recruiting, in Rodwell's words, players with potential. What we needed then and now are Championship proven players.

    With a week to go how many of that type of player do you really believe is a) available and b) would want to come to a club that has the real threat of relegation? It doesn't matter how much the owners might be prepared to gamble on staving off relegation if the players that might make the difference are not available.
