Just like when we brought in experienced classy players such as:ct_addick said:Finally a leader on the pitch….organising and shouting orders…..well done Connor Coady….dont care if he can’t get around the pitch like he used to….but he has a footballing brain…..which we have lacked
Paolo Di Canio
Jorge Costa
Ben Watson....Oh6 -
I said in the preview that I'd lost my optimism when I saw the team - how wrong was I. Coady was excellent at the base of the midfield and Doc, not one on my favourite players, had a very good game. I was also wrong about Dykes and Leaburn being able to work.
Obviously playing 10 men helped us but I firmly believe we would have won anyway. We saw just how important (decent) wingbacks are to the way we play. Bell brings a nice calmness to the defence and is much better on the ball than Gillesphey. Ramsay made one big mistake but otherwise I thought he was very good. Chambers was my mom with Clarke not far behind.
Up top, Leaburn worked his socks off and did well to earn the red card. As another poster mentioned, Dykes is more mobile than he appears and he finished well for his goal. I don't think Carey is getting enough plaudits for his goal, what a touch and then a clinical finish.
The disallowed goal was a joke and the penalty extremely soft. So even with the sending off, we still had to play against 11 men!17 -
Will the Leicester City possible point deduction definitely be decided this season ?0

Absolute shambles by those in charge though, surely it should be by the start of the season.fenaddick said:

Wonder if they'll be able to take it to appeal and drag it out that way, can still see it being a penalty that gets dished out next season, similar to how Sheff Wed got away with it in 2019/20 - If only we'd had a lawyer linked with the club around then, who could have fought that decision ourselves...fenaddick said:

Very nice post match interview Nathan. And, a very nice win.
Players shouldn't be happy just to collect their money and not have some heated chats with the manager when the club is on a bad run culminating in the humiliation of last week and over the last six weeks with the confusion when you play well and still might not get on the following game.
Monday should've been a lot of soul searching especially by Nathan Jones as he is the manager and has to take responsibility for the poor performances of late.
Great result today helped by the defender making a terrible mistake in getting the Red card when if 3 defenders had sprinted together one of them could've fouled Miles with his team mate beside him and only a yellow card and still 30 yards from goal. Totally different dynamics after that and Andy King's comments were spot on.
Blackburn, Norwich, West brom and Oxford all losing are a big bonus for CAFC. Which 2 will go down with Wednesday is still unclear.
We have so much more to do in the last 17 games with the twists and turns and injuries that occur to the various squads in the relegation mix.

When does the EFL make the decision on Leicester's points deduction?0

I don't like the small version, I much prefer the larger screen picture!eastterrace6168 said:

Plenty of positives today without getting carried away. Bell being back though is absolutely huge for us. Massive player who for me looks the best footballing brain in the squad.14

Didn’t the EFL say something about it not being fair on the Wendys as they could’ve tried harder if they knew about the points deduction?ForeverAddickted said:

Are we back in love with NJ this week or should he still be given the Spanish archer, El Bow?3 -
Coady, the new Jorge Costa RIP. He was very effective today.3

Always loved seeing the Portuguese tank desperately trying to get back for all his worth in those days(Forgot that he'd died though!!)0 -
So, how did all the new recruits do, blended in well, look worth the punt?0

He came on at the wrong time really though, when Leicester were pushing, and we didnt have as much control as what we had done, so am sure we'll see plenty of improvement from him yet.11

Coady, organisation and leadership. Also a quiet calmness. Brought a rudder to the ship14

They’re waiting again to see if it affects Charlton Athletic.Miserableoldgit said:Will the Leicester City possible point deduction definitely be decided this season ?17 -
I think Nathan Jones was spot on when he said the position we are in as a club now compared to when he came in. Until we start going backwards i.e. in a worse league position compared to when he came in then it’s difficult to argue about the job he’s done & still doing. You may not like the way he’s doing it, but days like today more than justifies it in my opinion. The problem is social media makes it too easy to give knee jerk reactions. We all felt gutted at the Millwall result but maybe sometimes it’s best not to vent frustration by posting a negative reaction. There were plenty of those to choose from last week.Being honest I’ve had my doubts about Nathan at certain times this season but I try my best to remain positive. Reading on here it seems if you post something positive then you’re either delusional or burying your head in the sand. I rarely post comments on here unless it’s something I feel really strongly about. I think coming from an age where you would have to put pen to paper & post after buying a stamp it makes you think a bit more about whether you should make a comment. We all love the club but maybe some of us have a funny way of showing it !22

When you consider who they beat and the fact that they are in freefall, it wasn't too bad a result.AberystwythAddick said:Apart from Pompey results went our way
We are now 3 points ahead of West Brom and we have a game in hand.
They have 1 point from their last 6 games.14 -

I thought he looked good defensively, toothless when attacking on the right, but better on the left, with one really good crossForeverAddickted said:sillav nitram said:So, how did all the new recruits do, blended in well, look worth the punt?Only one that was "disappointed" with was Fevrier, he looked like he was running through treacle a few times, whereas it had been mentioned a few times since he joined that he was pretty rapid. The ship has had a rudder ... just no-one at the helm steering the good ship MV Charlton Athletic.BarnehurstBob said:Coady, organisation and leadership. Also a quiet calmness. Brought a rudder to the ship
Today we had that leadership and guidance.
God bless the MV Charlton Athletic and all who sail in her!0
