  • If M’bick goes I will be fucking furious.
How do you suggest we fund more money to buy players? People think money just grows on trees, we are a selling club and if the price is right then the right choice is being made
We don’t have the time to use that money though

and what is this nonsense about loaning him back? To help Colchester??
I'd be sad, but you can't stand in the way of the kid if he's keen to make the move, and it's a good one for him. Nothing like Parker to Chelsea for example.

Matt O’Reily recalled from loan by Brighton, attacking midfielder. Makeweight somehow in Mbick deal?

Now that would be lovely. Far to good for us though

As much as I hate the idea of The Valley becoming an enclave for the Scousers loanees, I’d be excited about Nyoni.

The exact profile we require in the middle.
To be fair, pretty much every loan signing we've got from Liverpool has turned out to be at least decent...Chambers, (although early days) Millar, Eccleston, Carson...
I think the language barrier is a problem, at least the Kenyan can speak English.
Less than half of Kenyans speak English, and only a quarter to a decent level. Though maybe he can speak Welsh? I understand it is similar to Swahili.
I’ve seen an interview with him.  It’s not the clearest English but he certainly understands it and can speak it,

Now that would be a signing to get excited about but he’s been playing Champions League football for Marseille this year!

Never mind, he’s also already played for Brighton this season so he won’t be going anywhere.

    Absolutely no chance

Have we not just spent 1.9 million on Collins?

Nah he's going straight in their side. Loaned Brajan Gruda to Leipzig earlier in the day so there's a CM spot for O'Rilley

What Brighton do if they buy them is their choice and none of our business.

Id also be disappointed if he goes but I won’t be furious. The kid clearly has talent but there’s always a tipping point where the risk of potential is outweighed by the money offered.

We might not be able to spend the money this window (although we may have just spent over £1m of it) but it can go into the summer kitty and help with planning

Mbick has obviously done well at Colchester, but can’t help thinking he has to have improved drastically from what we saw in the limited viewings we have had of him. 5m would be very difficult to turn down, have a feeling is more of a Burstow than a Lookman personally.
I thought he was a bit slow and a big lump….so he’s probably worth £10m at least.

He’s also already played for two clubs this season so it’s playing for Brighton or nothing for him until the summer.

We don’t have the time to use that money though
Which means we can forward plan and be ready to spend it on the right people in the summer instead of panic splurge it now.

Unlike the interview with Coady, who clearly does not understand it and cannot speak it !

Honestly I struggle to keep up with a lot of these loans and how many clubs they've played for 😅

Until Cawley tells us to go to bed, anything’s possible.

Would think Cawley would have said something if he thought everything was wrapped up. Not to say we will actually manage to do anything else but i suspect we are still trying.

So what do people think next summers transfer budget is..?

£10M like last summer seems reasonable if still in the Championship.  Add £5M for M'bick, add £20M new investment, add £1M Lookman money, minus £1.5M on Collins.

    Gives us £34.5M - exciting.
It was 20 mill for this window and the summer

The club usually say when we are finished when we sign our last player on the club website. However there was no mention of this when we signed Sichenje so that fuels me with a bit of optimism.

Can see the young midfielder from Liverpool in and Mbick out. That’ll be it I reckon, surely would have had some rumours at least. Seemed we were in for Field but he’s gone to Norwich instead.

1.7 mill ,think the other offer was in euros
  • Never get why we always seem to leave it to the last min with the chance of it falling through

and why we dont have backup deals ready to go it always seems its just one option and thats it
