Very nearly a hat-trick too. Apart from one over, Pakistan have bowled nothing but spinners and have become the first team to use six spinners in an innings in a ICC Men's T20 WC.
  • India eventually get to a total of 175/7

Pakistan have a good chance here to make up that score

India finish on 175-7 which is a very good score given how slow the pitch is and the big dimensions of the ground.
  • Im only been listening to it for the last hour but if pitch is like how you describe it will be a tall order for Pakistan
  • Disaster for Pakistan at the moment. Playing strange shots and getting out. Far too aggressive batting with not a huge amount of skill by the sounds of it.
The large Indian contingent are enjoying this.

England win the toss and elect to bat. Both England and Italy are unchanged.

All three dismissals have been really poor.

Buttler was out in exactly the same way as he was against Scotland - hitting to leg and getting a leading edge and caught at mid-off, caused by his slightly split grip and his bottom hand dominance which causes the bat to slip in his hand. Both Salt and Bethell have been caught on the boundary shoveling the ball rather than hitting down or clearing the fielder.

    Making Italy look world class.

Imagine what India would do to this side. Grim.

Bar Stewart and the Mamenti brothers I can't say I know much about this Italian side.

To put this innings in perspective, such is the perceived nature of the pitch, England's batting lineup and the bowling of Italy, the opening line for runs scored was 221. The pitch hasn't changed but the line has dropped to 185 due to our dismissals.

Given how close Nepal pushed England, they have been absolutely abysmal with the bat against Italy today. They are currently 102-8 (17).
So, did Nepal play out of their skins the other day ?  Or were England that bad ?  Or are Italy worldbeaters ?

Nepal played to their very best when they played England and we didn't. Today, Nepal switched between being timid and reckless and probably expected to beat Italy in the way we expected to beat Nepal i.e. easily.

The thing about Italy is that they are made up of hardened pros and semi-pros. My son has played against both Anthony Mosca (here) and Ben Manenti (in Australia) and like all "Aussies" they are in your face and won't back down from anyone. I would liken our game to a Macclesfield playing against a Palace. In terms of skillset, they might be a long way off England but if we allow our egos to get the better of us or go out as if the game is going to be a piece of cake then we could be in trouble.
I actually don't think we have let our egos get the better of us. If anything, we have been too tentative but also been very guilty of playing the wrong shot to the wrong ball.
  • Banton gone as well, 105/5 now.

And there's another one. Banton, hitting it nicely and on 30 (21), but to a "drag down" hits it straight to the man on the boundary. It's just brainless batting.

    105-5 (12.4)

Do well to get 160 here. Going to have to bowl very well.

That was a bizarre one given how well he managed things the other night. Just no need to go for it. Just anchor the innings Tom.

Does McCullum actually coach these sides or just spend every day with his feet up in the boozer??

Against the Mosca brothers, who will open, I would seriously consider opening the bowling with Archer one end and Dawson the other. They both love pace on but Archer is more than that and won't be as happy against a spinner in the power play.

I think the level of coaching extends to "try and whack every ball". Time and time again there is absolutely no thought to what we do, or any managing of an in-game situation at all.

Mc Callum out. Get rid of the captaincy from Brook. We are going backwards. With the talent in the side we should not be struggling against Italy. BTW how many Italians are there in their team.

In partnership with Jacks and following 35 off 10 balls, Curran is caught at cover for 25 (19)

    159-6 (16.5)
  • These two are on it now. Could still get 200 if they stay in.

Fuck sake, too good to be true, Curran out as i type.
