If we stay up, should we still get rid and aim higher? Or at least aim for something resembling a style to our football?
We all know you dislike him but I would warn you - there were Luton fans just like you two or three years ago.
didn't he walk out of them in 10th position and they got promoted to the Prem ?? yes subsequently a double relegation

Imagine if the football he served up was as good as his pathetic hissy fits or his touchline antics for the cameras, we would be quite exciting to watch.

The footballs dire but the aim this year is survival by any means.

We've negated our attacking game to achieve this.

The concept Jones is stuck rigid with formation is wrong. We started the season with a flat back 4 but the injury to Edwards forced our hand.

As the season wore on its quite clear that despite our defence being our strongest asset it is only because we sacrifice the attacking game to make it so. We don't have 2 centre backs that could play as a pair without getting exposed.

That coupled with 2 defensive midfielders effectively means we have 7 defensive minded players out there. I'm sure he would like to free the shackles but as we have seen when we revert to a back 4 like Millwall (Last 30) we get exposed for our defensive frailties.

This season has and will remain about grinding out enough to have another revamp next season should we get over the line Jones knows where the issues lay.

Was the football pretty in league 1 ?
It was effective. We won a lot of games. Got promoted. Ask teams like Bolton and Barnsley where pretty football in league one gets you. Not sure when we became such snobs!

Did you enjoy us trying to play out under Ben Garner? With Ryan Inniss picking the ball up in the penalty box?
My point is its exactly the same football, nothing will change next year as its the same as last year.

I think there’s a big difference between the football we were playing at the end of last season vs start of last season vs now. Maybe not in the play offs itself but the second half of the season I can’t remember any comments about how we were playing. I’m sure the aim is to get to that in the championship but it’s not something that is going to happen overnight

Personally I couldn’t care less how we play, as long as it’s successful and so far it has been

I'm not so sure. There's some high quality sluggers out there for those with deeper pockets.
    Just look at Millwall!

I understand that, I didn't think you were. Maybe I misread your post but I always expected Portsmouth to be a bit of a banana skin. Perhaps if we had maintained our record at their place, I might have been cocky, but once that went I felt they might smell blood.

Would be absolute madness to get rid of Jones. Some of our fans honestly deserve league 1. He’s taken us from 20th in league 1 to 18th in the championship in 2 years and it’s still not enough for some people. The entitlement and tantrum every time we lose a game is embarrassing
We can all deal with losing. It’s the manner of the defeats that is troubling. And it’s reasonable to question how far this style of football can take us.

I don’t dislike Nathan Jones actually. He’s done a great job for us. I wouldn’t sack him. Not right now. But I do think he has a ceiling.

They were 9th, one point outside the playoffs after 20 played and had finished 6th the previous season with Jones winning Championship manager of the season.

Not convinced Rob Edwards didn’t just ride the squad Jones built for a couple dozen games and then it crashed and burned the following summer onwards.

Seriously how can you want NJ to be in charge. Notwithstanding his antics when we win his behaviour after Stoke but most importantly last night against a fan in the covered end after the game was manic. You have to worry if this at times is transferred to the players. We all can pick formations and players but I feel his ability to recognise his formation is being worked out by other managers is poor. We of course have no divine right to win every game and it's often said that survival this season would be a win. The reality however is that last minute winners plus typically the luck against Sheffield United have kept us out of the bottom 3. The football is not pretty and not inventive enough plus yesterday against pompey there was little fight. Yes NJ did great to get us out of Division 1 but it's the championship now (obviously) and too often his team is lacking. For me he has to go.
