I’d love to beat them and play circus music at the end. Tricky C**ts.

We will play the same necessary but turgid football tomorrow but because we aren't expected to win, the fans will be cheering every tackle and throw in and the perception of our performance will be different. We played some dull football on Tuesday night but people expecting us to go there and take the game to WBA and outplay them are living in a fantasy world. Man to man they are better than us in virtually every position as Wrexham will be. People are entitled to moan but luckily a good chunk of those moaning the most on here use it as an excuse not to go and thankfully won't be there tomorrow to suck the atmosphere out of the afternoon. Each to their own.
Good point. Reminds me of the Birmingham game last season when we beat them by being turgid while failing to beat worse sides in the middle of our bad run.
  • If TK is out then will be interesting to see how Mannion holds up. Don't think Jones was going to make the switch based on form. I actually think TK has improved a bit on his weak points recently - has come out to claim/punch a bit more and looked to distribute quickly.

Our problem tomorrow - and generally - is that there are just not enough goals in this Charlton team, largely because of our long ball style and a serious lack of creativity in midfield. Wrexham's 6 leading scorers in Championship games have amassed 40 goals, compared to our 24. The probable absence of our defensive lynchpin is a further concern and is anxiety-inducing in much the same way that I felt if Mark Kinsella was injured or, way back when, Alan Campbell was unavailable.

Hopefully we can raise our game, individually and collectively, and put in a really competitive performance. If we are able to do so and can replicate the defensive solidity we showed at Southampton, we can take something from the game, although we'll require a significant improvement in our attacking play.
  • I'm weirdly starting to feel a lot more confident about away games than home games. I basically expect us to grind out a draw most of the time away now but home games will be very occasionally a stolen win or increasingly likely a bit of a pasting in front of our own fans. I think we're at that stage in the season where the siege mentality is our best friend but that's hard to put in place at home. Maybe we'll benefit from Wrexham being aggressive but we're spectacularly bad at counter attacking, probably because Jones is very focused on being front-footed so there likely isn't much time devoted to it in training and our best counter-attackers in theory are TC who likes to check back and look for support and Carey who likes to run directly into defenders' shins while thinking about whether or not he can shoot yet. Fingers crossed we have one of those magical games where we defend well and nick a goal, an unexpected 3 points now would be absolutely huge for us at this point and assuming we don't do what we all know we're going to do against Sheff Weds that could put us so close to reaching safety. We don't seem to do well against Wrexham though and I think Parky knows how to deal with a safety first team better than most

Seems odd to knock two of our best attack minded players in a pre game preview post.  Carey's goals and TCs invention and ball retention have played a huge part in our successes this season.

This is a remortgage job and all in on your own house and any family members house you can coerce them in to parting with for a day , we’ll get easily out personalitied today with our dullness 0-4 to the wrecks ham

If Sichenje plays, and is on the MOM poll. Nailed on to win it.

As usual you choose to have a pop at my post, have you had a sense of humour By-Pass? There are lots of people predicting a loss and I’m making light of it, so do one!!

A tough ask this afternoon if Jones is not playing. A huge loss in defence.

Wrexham full of confidence at present especially away from home with 4 wins and a draw this calendar year so far.

Not scored 2 goals at home since the Sheffield Wednesday game back in October and will need to least match that to come away with 3 points later on.

    Wow.

"As usual"? I don't even know who you are mate. But rest assured I will be keeping a keen eye out for you in future.

And "do one"? Do one what, or where? That's always been the most ridiculous line used by people trying to sound all big and macho. Usually it's said by weedy little helmets, or kids. I can only guess which one you are.

    Good day to you, sir.

Anyway back to the thread, it’s going to be a tough one today but we are home and not impossible, hoping Nj has made it clear that some performances have been poor recently and the team comes out firing. We are overdue one of our big days at home, let’s hope it’s today. Not predicting a score just want a performance to be proud of.COYR!!

If both Jones and TK do miss out that's a worry. TK may have been incosistent but changing 50% of your back 4 against a free scoring side is a recipe for miscommunication and errors

Kayne Ramsay, no relation to Jacob Ramsey at Newcastle ! States Charlton have 12 'cup finals' left to play, so let's treat the games that way. We need the Wembley connection between players and crowd to keep our championship status.

The 3 best penalty area finishers at Charlton are Godden, Kelman and Kanu. Matty has had a injury racked season - Charlie has either been injured or not trusted - Daniel is on loan and has 16 goals in 32 games but league 2 and still learning his trade.

This is the dilemma that we are relying on Carey with his shooting from range and TBF to Sonny has 8 goals so far and hopefully 3 or 4 more before the seasons end which should keep Cafc in the Championship. Dykes and TC aren't clinical finishers but both need to score more before the 25/26 campaign is over and I still feel Kelman playing off either Dykes or Leaburn can contribute.

Wrexham are playing well and with Jones out I fear a 0-2, so we will then have 11 cup finals left BUT we are capable of getting a positive result so "let's be having you"
Cook us up a treat Charlton.

Wrexham play two systems one at home ( that’s why Dobson don’t play home games ) and away games where they normally go 5 across mid .. if they do that today against our 3 that’s where the game will be won or lost ….. perhaps we should match up 451 … if we want to get anything from today’s game …

I haven’t got a house anymore after you told me to sell it and put the money on Southampton.

I spoke to Lloyd in Sainsburys car park in Eltham Wednesday afternoon (seen him there a couple of times) I asked how his ankle was and he said it's not good. He said he injured it against Sheffield Utd and was advised to rest and not play for 3-4 weeks but the instruction to to the physios was to just strap it up which is what's been happening. I did say to him perhaps once we're safe he can rest up then but he said he wants POY and sounded determined to play so we'll see. Told him POY might be difficult given the votes Sichenje was getting he agreed and said it's crazy.

Can’t see us getting anything out of this, a draw would be amazing but can’t see past a 3 or 4 nil defeat. If Jones is out, our defence is in for a torrid time.

    Errr...not all my friend...🙄
  • The way things are at the moment this an "all bets are off" game.  You just don't know which Charlton are going to turn up.  I am starting to feel like Rectum are another Millwall to us.
