Well, I like Okonkwo. But people who watch a lot more of other games than I do, say he's let in some howlers. But at 24 he is young for a keeper. And speaking of young keepers, a lot of people on here didn't rate Nick Pope.JaShea99 said:Are we ever going to get a proper keeper?3 -
As you know I'm usually very pessimistic but I cant see us not picking up a couple of wins and a couple of draws from Sheff Wed, Oxford, Watford, Bristol City, Preston & Hull. The others I think we'll lose but I think getting to 48 or 49 points should be enough.cabbles said:
WBA and Leicester are a mess to be fair, but out of the 11 games left, I genuinely can’t see where we get our victories from, which is why I think we’re at the mercy of the others’ inability to get a win. The performance today was very encouraging, but as it stands we will need to win some games. Oxford could be right bang up for it now they’ve given themselves a chance. Sheff Wed are done but who’s to say they can’t take a point off us at least. Then we’ve got Boro away, Ipswich and Hull at home, all in the mix. Watford, Bristol City, Preston, Brum, Norwich toss a coin.Sword65pf said:
Mate, the table doesn’t say we are ‘Bang in trouble’, we’ve work to do but I’d rather be where we are than West Brom and Leicester and Oxford. Our performance deserved more today and shows we are in the fight and not just packing it in. Nothing fell for us today.cabbles said:Personally I think we’re bang in trouble. It’s only the other sides behind the iron curtain that keep us afloat. We’re a joke going forward and we’ll inch over the line on the basis of other teams’ inability.I can’t see where our next win is coming from.As sad as it was for Burke, joke of a signing. The highest paid player in the team, certainly one of them, and we’ve had a pathetic return of minutes. Budget that could’ve been spent on a central midfielder for example.Communist football lines on in se7Swansea on the final day, hopefully be alright by then, but 7 home games versus 4, big, big finish needed12 -
He offers pace and width to our attack in a way that other players don’t. He usually has more than one opponent defending against him due to that, which creates space for others and pushes teams back, and if not, lets us in behind.superclive98 said:Don't understand the comments about TC being good today. I'm a fan but I thought he was dreadful today.
Such a lack of belief and desire. Looks like he needs a rocket up his arse more than an arm around his shoulder.
The alternative is Kelman, who offer little outside the box, or Leaburn, who’s too similar to Dykes. Not that surprising therefore that Jones wanted to sign Antonio.6 -

The formation is just all wrong for the things TC does well, which is being out wide, he’s not a striker, he doesn’t consistently run off/link up with another striker well enough that’s forgetting his poor end product and he gets bullied up top, his being on the pitch in his his most effective position is a puzzle to solve for NJ as him taking up a strikers spot feels like a waste of a player and blocking a real striker playing.Scoham said:

I think the mods can read mate. Easy thing is just don’t talk to people like that.SoundAsa£ said:

I think he’s played better up front than on the wing in recent weeks. He’s too isolated out wide and it makes it so easy to double up against him. The most positive thing about his striker/winger role is that the CB and FB often assume each other will cover himSword65pf said:

I thought that was a performance to be proud of, save for the age-old (and totally sound) adage that you have to score when you were on top.
We should have been ahead at half-time but, unfortunately, we passed up two gilt-edged chances and Wrexham’s one strike on goal proved decisive. Parky’s tactics were to sit deep, with banks of 5 and 4 and ask us what we were going to do about it.
Wrexham had a better start to the second half with some decent possession but they dropped off as the half wore on and Charlton dominated the play. We put some very good balls into the box, which were well defended, and when Sonny Carey finally got a chance to apply the lash, their keeper pulled off an outstanding save.
I thought there were a number of outstanding performances from Charlton players, including Lloyd Jones, Collins Sichenje (I hope his hamstring is ok), Harry Clarke and Lyndon Dykes. The rest of the lads all did well and if we maintain anything like that level of performance, we’ll certainly be a Championship club next season.
A tough result to take, although I have to accept that Wrexham defended their box well in the second half. Less admirable was their gamesmanship in rollling around on the floor (being in Man City’s Academy, Kaboré, is no excuse) and taking an age over goal kicks. All that said, Wrexham is a side who have learned how to win games, including undeservedly this afternoon in SE7.
If we play anything like that in our remaining games, we’ll be in this division next season, although there is much work to do.

He also needs more teammates making runs, pulling defenders out of position and creating space for him to run into, more one-on-one situations for him, or spaces for him to pass into. All too often its him against two defenders, no way through, pass backwards - but that's not just down to him. But also agree a combination of arm round shoulder and rocket is often called for during a game!superclive98 said:Don't understand the comments about TC being good today. I'd personally like to see Cov and JRC in midfield next week with Coady and hope Chambers is back with Clarke on the other side.
Up front obviously Dykes against his old team but maybe with Kelman as I thought they were beginning to work well together before Kelman got dropped and the lad must be short on confidence. I only say this as Dykes and Leaburn/TC haven't always worked but there's really very limited options. On the bench I'd have pace with TC and Fev plus Leaburn with Doc, Blurry, Collins and Gilly.... But as today proved what We think the line up should be Nathan goes the opposite way.

Enough opportunities in that first 30 minutes to take the lead and then we go a goal down with their first opportunityThen have to wait till the 89th minute (Carey) for a shot on target.10/10 for endeavour but it’s all about putting that ball in the back of the net and once again we have failed to do that2
-
Just don’t feel like he has enough impact as a striker playing as a pair, if he did more of the running off Dykes like he did for his goal a couple of weeks ago it would be more justified, but that was more an exception than the rule I’m afraid.fenaddick said:

Think you’re right. Hope you are anyway. We’re close now. Another decent win and we should be fairly safe.MarcusH26 said:
Even if Rowett somehow makes Leicester more solid it feels like the atmosphere is so toxic there that it's an uphill battle for him . Think West Brom are staring relegation in the face , it's too late for a new manager bounce to really save things.Chunes said:
There was a big pre-match protest by the Leicester fans against the owners today. And I just saw a clip of the WBA fans abusing their players after the game today. They are two teams that are bang in trouble. I feel like we're showing enough to pick up the results we need. Both these teams need to find a huge turnaround from somewhere and the mood is very toxic.cabbles said:

Thought we played really well today but says it all when we still can’t score a goal.
Think we could have played another ninety minutes and not scored today.
Jones was absolutely immense at the back today.
Coventry was really infuriating as slows everything down by going backwards/sideways.
Campbell was excellent and would have had two assists if Berry & Dykes scored those chances in the first half.
Kelman is so far off the pace at the moment.
Collins was superb, so it’s a real shame that he done his hamstring at the end.Worried about where the wins are going to come from right now.1 -
Frustrating not to get anything from the game but there is a lot to build on with the performance.I was particularly impressed with Ramsay, playing out of position and kept Kabore pretty quiet and got forward well on the left.Sichenje was excellent as well. Great positionally, very quick and very composed when stepping out with the ball. Got the touch of the Richard Rufus about him.4

Who was giving Reece Burke stick then ? Who said it was his fault that he's made of glass ? You seem to be making up statements from a post by giving your interpretation of that post. Let me reiterate for you, it's clear that Reece Burke cannot be relied on to compete at this level, the club, who you and I agree, are the ones who took a chance on his fitness, and its not down to Reece Burke or his agent that they found a club willing to gamble on his fitness. The fact is that the club have taken on a player at the princely sum of £11000 a week, he has a two year contract, with an option of another year, nobody is suggesting that Reece Burke is doing anything wrong by seeing his contract out, but as I have pointed out, the club are now saddled with that wage for very little if any return on their investment with regards to his availability. His contract also has an indirect effect on what we may be able to bring in and whoever made the decision to sign needs, in my opinion, to have a serious look at themselves.Sword65pf said:As much as some don’t want to read this, like chuks, it’s not Reece Burkes fault he’s made of glass, but the club (NJ) for giving the contract, Burke is a good guy and will no doubt be as frustrated as us, but he shouldn’t be getting any stick, it’s just unfortunate.0 -
Thought we were lucky to draw on Tuesday. Unlucky to lose today. If I had to choose 1 to lose and 1 to draw it would’ve been this way round though. Glad we get a week to rest before the next one.

Not expecting much from the next two games but you never know. Oxford could be a bigger game than it appears at the moment.

Mate wasnt having a go at anyone, you’ve taken it completely out of context, I was just being sympathetic to his situation, and stated his signing was on the club not everything has to be an argument.🤷🏻♂️Bailey said:

Not seeing what it seems most others have seen. Thought we were bland and the effort was ok but we have reached a ceiling and it's not good enough.
Wrexham very average throughout. Any signs of life in the West Brom corpse and I think we will be for the drop.
But i have only realised tonight that Mannion was playing so I could have easily missed other detail that matters too. Need a win asap to blow today out the system.9 -
Stevie Brown seemed to think Sichenje’s injury may not have been his hamstring as he managed to carry on for a few minutes…..stating that it’s almost impossible to carry on, even if it’s just a small tear.🤞🤞🤞CafcSteve said:Thought we played really well today but says it all when we still can’t score a goal.

Yes Campbell really doesn't do much although he has in fact scored. But so has Fevrier so why not give him a try alongside Lyndon? He is stronger and probably fitter than TC.

Berry can probably hit that first time and score. I can see why he takes the touch inside but it’s obviously just far too heavy.

Could have taken a touch and walked it in with momentum; instead he feathered a leg‑spinner straight to second slip.guinnessaddick said:1
