What else does the article say about signing a free agent ??
Not worth it according to NJ as Knibbs and Godden will be back before any free agent could get up to speed ie after the next international break.

Personally feel it was a good decision by Antonio to go and play in a warmer climate to help his aching bones. I could see him calling it a day after he plays half a dozen games as the trauma on his body may not be worth it as he has made plenty after being a player and can retire, write a book on his driving escapades as well as being a football pundit.
  • Don't tell me he ain't signing, wow, shock horror he's following the money trail instead, didn't see that coming...not!....😂
  • Meh

The longer it dragged on, the less I wanted him to sign for us as we were clearly not his preferred choice.

Good luck to him, but not the right fit for us in a relegation fight

So I see yet another..  "there is always the free market option" has bitten the dust.

When will people learn that signing players outside of the transfer window is not usually a good idea. There are reasons why these players haven't found a club. September I can sort of understand.....but by xmas ????

Would have been a complete waste of money glad we’ve saved some wages

I saw (briefly) on the other thread that we’re not signing Michael Antonio either.
Bloody useless, you’d have thought we could have got a deal for one of them done…

I think NJ likes to find a game changer, if he can... but the last 2-3 seasons have shown what slim pickings there are, and they come with a risk...

Besides, considering what an excellent signing Dykes is turning into, there was no point signing him anyway...

Can I be the first to say that we dodged a bullet there?

Even if it’s not true, we have to say it if someone turns us down.

I never saw the point of signing an unfit striker anyway. If he had been super sharp, he wouldn't have been without a club since last summer.

And finishing has never been our problem. We don't score many goals because we don't create many chances.

I'm with you mate, the chance of a 35 year old returning from a serious injury, making any kind of impact are slim and none, with slim having left town. Christ the bloke was playing against us in 2011, and debuted for Reading in 2008!! He's got more miles on the clock than the dodgy birds that used to frequent that awful over 30s club opposite Sidcup station!!

Yeah, think I'd definitely sooner be at Charlton considering the current global situation

I’d love to be able to say ‘if NJ wanted him, he must have looked sharp’ but I really don’t think I can after LuaLua and the likes

    He already signed for them.

    Article here - https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c5yvlvnng24o

Says a deal with us was basically done until his Jamaica team mate talked him into signing a short team deal out there.
