All that build up for it to be unveiled as Danhausen.  What an absolute waste of time

What were you expecting, out of interest?

Fair point.  I don't really know to be honest.

I just know that I don't get the Danhausen gimmick at all & was hoping for something a little more exciting after spending weeks building it up

He's not to everyone's taste, but he's gonna sell a fuck tonne of merch and if they link up him and Truth in any weird skits it could be one for the ages.

Would be nice if Danhausen did the funny stuff and Truth did his more serious Ron Killing gimmick he hinted at instead of advert spots, ho hum.
  • Got to be honest - I thought this was going to be a thread on the wrestling at corners in the Arsenal Chelsea game!

This thread has gone very quiet, which I think is an accurate representation of how everyone feels going into Wrestlemania.

WWE is incredibly flat at the moment

Flat is an understatement. That Pat McAfee reveal and promo was one of the worst things I've ever seen, and I've seen 2000 WCW and AEW.
  • WWE's booking resembles WCW's during their last years. I still expect Mania to be good, at least in the ring, but this obsession with celebrities is dragging the company down.

Orton Cody didn't need Jelly Roll and McAfee. Punk vs Reigns promos seem too forced and neither have wrestled in over a month

TKO’s meddling in the booking is obvious to see, and it’s hurting them a lot.

The Travis Scott stuff last year should have been a major lesson learned to not lean heavily on celebrities in main event angles, but here we are again.

The period leading up to Wrestlemania 40 showed how good a Triple H led approach can be. Then TKO/Netflix took hold and it’s declined massively.

    They're not impressive celebrities either.

My most anticipated match this weekend is Sandman's retirement match Vs The Invisible Man. I'm sure it'll go YouTube. Sandman's already been beaten up by him on a talk show and he actually sold it really well.

Exactly this, plus you have to imagine the wrestlers can't be too happy when actual wrestlers who've paid their dues and worked their way up don't get a match at Wrestlemania but IShowSpeed does?!
I'm sure to an extent they know it's how it goes sometimes but can't imagine they are happy about it.

Yeah, 4 or 5 weeks in a row the main event of Raw was a Roman and Punk promo, boring. The only match that they've done well with is Oba v Brock. Mia Yim and Be Fab (who shouldn't be on the main roster) joining Jade (see previous comment) was a Russo swerve that made zero sense.

Oh well, it was good whilst it lasted!

I follow it from afar, catching up on the big shows etc through online reports and highlights, but I just can't get into it properly, the ridiculous way everyone hits finishers on eachother and then 30 seconds later are absolutely fine and not selling at all really kills it for me

It’s been so bad, TKO have ruined it - if I see that Hulk Hogan ad again tonight, I’m not responsible for my actions

Rough day to watch that Sheffield Wednesday performance & a Wrestlemania that bad all within a few hours. Blimey.

Remember, some people paid 5 figures to attend that.

Crowd was a full 8k lower than last year, I wonder if they stuck to the original plan and held it in NOLA it would have had better sales

I'm hoping tonight with the Dom Vs Demon match, the ladder match, Ripley Vs Cargill and Punk Vs Reigns will be a lot better

It would've. Vegas has a big drop in tourism and April has always been a bad month for the city. I think the obscene ticket prices had a bigger impact. It's even been addressed during promos.

I suspect Cargill v Ripley will have Sane turning on Asuka. That's been going on for months and needs to be paid as it's getting boring. Would have made sense to have that as a match instead of Lee v Lynch but hey ho.

Apparently the AJ Lee match was to get the title off her as she came in for the pop but didn't want to wrestle full time, or even really part time.

Interesting to see if they do the same with Paige, she wasn't really wrestling a lot in AEW when there and hasn't been wrestling at all for a couple of years.

    SponsorMania.

Absolute snooze fest. The storylines going into that made it feel like no more than a regular PPV. It didn’t have that special Wrestlemania feel to it at all.

    TKO really have ruined it.
