Will Mannion Signs on 3 year contract

I thought Mannion had a good game, but looked overly theatrical at times. It's a close call between them, but Kaminski shades it for me. Mannion is certainly good enough for a squad place but, frankly, I'd prefer a step up in quality over either of them for our first choice keeper.

Mannion is the cup keeper. 

He didn't play in the Carabao Cup because he was struggling with injury and AMB played that instead, Mannion named on the bench.

I fully expect Kaminski back in on Saturday 

Don’t think today, taught us anything we didn’t know. Brilliant commanding his area, ok distribution and still have no clue how much of a good shot stopper he is 

I think the more games he plays the better he will get,although I think he was unlucky not to start as no.1 this season. I love a keeper that comes and catches the ball in his area, it takes so much pressure off the defence, for this reason I think he deserves a run in the side even if Kaminski is fit, maybe it will encourage Kaminski to think about doing the same.

Problem with that will be what we do with the ones we have already. Kaminski is on fairly hig money and would be hard to shift, whereas Mannion probably could be a decent target for some teams but he's the one most fans would prefer to keep it seems.

It was a perfect game for him. Not much happening to test his shot stopping but a game that needed a keeper to be strong in claiming the ball in the air and that's what he's best at. On the occasion Birmingham did try and hit a long shot they were way off target

brilliant command of his area, seemingly fairly weak shot stopper. Was the same in league 1 and I guess Nathan thought saving shots was going to be much more important in the champ. With TK having so many clean sheets, NJ wasnt wrong I guess 

Mannion is streets ahead of Kaminsky on taking crosses and commanding his area.
I've seen nothing to suggest Kaminsky is a better shot stopper (he may be).
It's the first time this season I've not been concerned that our goalie will make a crucial error.
Keep him in and give him the chance he deserves.
If he fails so be it.

While I'm still probably less down on Kaminski than most, I wonder if quality aside that Mannion's style of goalkeeping is a better fit long term if we really do want the actual football to improve.

Kaminski's main selling point was his shot stopping but having a keeper who is pretty much just the last ditch defence, even am effective one, invites pressure and puts us into a defensive mindset from the outset. 

A keeper who comes proactively and claims the ball gives us the theoretical option of trying quick counter and making teams more wary of being caught on the counter as opposed to our current style of just soaking up pressure.

If we really want to push on then neither will be number 1 here in a few years time, unless Mannion really improves which is possible 

Mannion is brilliant at claiming crosses, but he is poor with his feet and his shot stopping is average. Kaminski has made too many mistakes but his shot stopping is pretty good usually. His distribution is average at best, though better than Mannion’s, but then he’s really poor at dealing with crosses 

I don’t think there’s much between the two of them really. Mannion was great on Saturday, but he’s also only had 3 shots at him across his 2 starts. Kaminski has made some brilliant saves that have won us points, but he’s also made quite a few mistakes. 

I think like last season when AMB kept the shirt when Mannion got injured, Mannion will keep it until he has a poor game or gets injured

The last paragraph is why I think it's a little unfair on Mannion. There isn't much between them overall (personally much prefer Mannion's style of keeping though) but he'll likely be dropped as soon as he costs us points, assuming Kaminski is fit. Whereas the same wouldn't, and hasn't, happened to Kaminski.
