Will Mannion Signs on 3 year contract

In a different system Kaminski probably is the better keeper but for a team that limits so many clear cut or good goal scoring opportunities, Mannion suits our style better purely for the commanding of area and sweeping. What’s the point of having a good shot stopper when we rarely face good attempts at goal.
Then when you consider cost and wages it just emphasises Mannion as the better option0 -
People keep forgetting all the long range shots he didn’t stop the first half of last year. When we went on the run last year it was when we tightened up the defense and started limiting shots on goal. He is excellent at commanding the box which is what we need right now so you keep the course with him but I don’t see him as a long term option if we have any aspirations to be other than a team fight against relegation2

Lost confidence?elbiglad said:Very pleased with his performances since he came in. I have to admit I do feel more comfortable with him at the moment as I think TK had lost confidence. However, he hasn’t been perfect and his errors just haven’t led to goals. He flapped at a cross last night, played a hospital pass inside the six yard box and made a very strange save in the first half to a low shot. His kicking was also quite poor. He let a cross straight through him v Birmingham. These things happen. If you get away with it then people forget. It was a good time for TK to come out albeit through injury, and delighted Mannion has stepped up!
He looked a bag of nerves first game of the season.
Mannion better without doubt, until and if he loses form.1 -
Kaminski still the better keeper and one of the reasons we are not bottom 3 … but Mannion is an excellent number two which is what you want.. unfortunately as we saw last night Mannion can make very basic errors that nearly cost us8

I noticed for the "mistake" last night, firstly he recovered but secondly there was someone on the line covering. That's a positive of having a goalie who comes off his line - defenders know its going to happen so they cover the line.
The awkward save was him doing the basics "get something behind the ball". It's the first thing they are taught.
I've got a lot of time for Mannion and have never really been a Kaminski fan. If we can get a decent backup next season then i'd let Kaminsky go, along with Berry and Burke, and we could probably recruit 4 or 5 decent Championship players on those wages.3 -
What’s interesting is that many of Mannion’s catches and claims look routine. But the fact Kaminski doesn’t go for them at all tells you they’re better than routine.
It comes down to intent, footwork and bravery in his decision making. If you want to stay rooted to your goal line, you need to be an exceptional shot‑stopper and make almost no mistakes.3 -
I love him, he doesn't panic, facial expression barely changes. To be critical, the roll out to macca when under pressure and the superman attempt at the end were silly mistakes, but he didnt let it faze him, looked unbothered and he will learn the more he plays. I think he was superb last night. He's still relatively inexperienced for his age, but I think hes good enough. I feel less troubled for next season now ive seen him a few more times. I dont think we can bring in another gk with TK's wages still on the books over the summer, so knowing he can step up is encouraging.2

Not been impressed with Kaminski this season and the stats back it up. '-5.71 Goals Prevented', which is towards the bottom of goalkeepers in this division. I don't get believe that he is switched on. He looks like a lot of the senior pros we've caught, who are on their way down and have lost the levels of desire that once made them a good player.
To be honest, I wasn't convinced by Mannion as a goalkeeper last season either, but he was better than Kaminski has been thus far. He's earned his chance and hope he keeps it.2 -
Mannion has conceded one goal in his last six league appearances and has kept seven clean sheets in his last ten league matches.4

I was worried about Jones throwing Mannion in “cold” v Chelsea. Despite the score line he did absolutely fine. Resilience is such an important quality in a GK and Mannion has it in spades.0

Would be amazed, and disappointed, if he didn’t start tomorrow.3

Very very sadly I reckon Kaminski will be automatically back in as starter. Really hope I'm wrong.0

I hope you are wrong . Mannion totally deserves to stay as no1 until circumstances change .boggzy said:Very very sadly I reckon Kaminski will be automatically back in as starter. Really hope I'm wrong.3 -
Really good today again. His shirt to lose5

Only thing I didn’t like today was the throw out to Clarke right before the penalty. Lots of air on it and very little pace.Clarke could’ve put his foot through it tbf, but it was unnecessary pressure when we had very little to gain.
Other than that, pretty happy with how he’s doing.0 -
Did really well to slow the shot that Jones cleared off the line, in games like that you might have one save to make and he made it5
-
He was at fault for the poor kick that resulted in Jones needing to clear it off the line. Brilliant commanding his area yet again but again kicking was poor and shot stopping not really tested. He’s not done anything to deserve being dropped still No.1 at present but not gonna pretend today he did anything in particular to go how the hell was he never starting in the first place0

Shame we wasted the Kaminski money, could have been used on someone else.1
