Doesnt make someone immune to criticism though - Or do you want Lloyd thinking he can suddenly start breezing through gamesCrispywood said:

Exactly, even when he's annoyed/having a pop at Lloyd he still makes a point of saying he's the best in the league at something. Pointing out that LJ wasn't quite at his usual standards is far from "going after" him.ForeverAddickted said:

It’s what makes a good manager. Knowing your players and how and when or even if to criticise them. They’re all different characters and will respond to various types of criticism or cajoling. Look at Kelmans recent remarks that he wasn’t meeting the standards expected. He’s come back and looks sharper and much more like the player we wanted. I know he’s had a fair bit of criticism from Jones.4
-
Nah I get that but he’s gone after the CB that won the penalty and cleared a shot off the line all the players and he chooses Lloyd weird oneForeverAddickted said:

This is from a friend of mine.
I had the Radio Oxford commentary on yesterday. Their pundits described us as a long ball team that doesn’t create anything and relies on set pieces and long throws - Peter Rhodes Brown - remember him ?
1 -
It's taken 38 games to come to that conclusion? The football may be ugly, but its serving its intended purpose.
According to there fans on SM we are also the noisiest fans to visit this season.6 -

There is something in common with Oxford and Peterborough... Its working for us... It isnt working for them, so maybe they should focus on that2 -
To be fair I think that any neutral or opposition fan that watched our games would not be overly impressed with the football. I’m not getting into the debate as to why because we all know why. We’re doing what needs to be done to maintain our Championship status and that’s absolutely fine by me. What I will say though is that it has to change. I’m not saying we throw the baby out with the bath water because our defence is generally awesome. I just know that more of the same next season will put us exactly where we are now. Looking over our shoulder. I’m confident Jones and the owners will know this and it’ll be addressed in the summer. If not then I’ll be very disappointed.3
-
I think you need to prepare to be disappointed.3

Feel like I live in Bizarro world sometimes. There's a whole thread dedicated to digging out Tyreece Campbell after every match but when the manager correctly points out that Lloyd Jones won far fewer of his headers than he usually does and criticises him for it he's compared to Michael bloody Appleton. Jesus Christ.9

I’ve been in hospital recently missed a lot of Charlton, no phone, watch or anything, got punched in the face, and whipped in the chest, by 2 separate nutters, didn’t retaliate , got out quicker.WillmoreTheRed said:Bye bye Jones, someone can get us attacking and creating more chances than this.
Didnt know what day of the week it was, no social media, it was beautiful, 500 unread emails, and 500 unread WhatsApp’s.
Hadn’t been into a hospital for 26 years for myself, so lots of threads for me to catch up on, but wow, only just seen some of these comments, good job I missed the heavy Millwall defeat.

Hope that you're doing okay?I’m 56 had the usual stuff, parents , in laws dying , sister passing etc, but this is the worst time in my life, and has been for the last 6 months, I just can’t wait for some good times to happen, have had to cancel holidays, theatre visits, and cinema trips, I used to go every week.
I can’t even come to games at the moment its too much for me.
My sleep has been 1 hour a day, for 3 days running, it takes me 3 days to recover from, I’ve seen a side of life, that I thought I’d never seen since I was a kid, at a crap primary school in the 70’s , last time I was beaten up.
It all started when I came off a running machine , back in September, and compound fractured my knee, still can’t walk properly, have only driven once in 6 months.
Never known so much go wrong, for so long, I’ve gone from able bodied, running 50 miles a month, to disabled physically.
I walk at a third of everyone else, so can’t walk Far.
When I came out from hospital, I’d even forgotten how to set up streaming Charlton matches live.1 -
Hope things take a turn upwards for you Mendonca in Asda. Sounds like you’ve been through the mill.2
-
Bloody hell @Mendonca In Asdas you've definitely been through the wars lately. If you'd like a bit more moral support (or even technical, if you're still having issues getting streaming sorted out), can I suggest posting on the "How Are You?" thread, as it's less likely to get buried in the various spates of random bickering in this one.2
-
In that Statement he said Jones was the best in the league at first contacts and he was a bit off that yesterday. I think we are normally more dangerous in the air offensively but Oxford were as comfortable in dealing with that as anyone. I do get what Nathan meant generally and he said he was happy with the point, just not the way we played the game.2

After watching the England games ( friendlies I know, but even qualifying wasn’t great), I wonder if we may be too keen to see NJ change style of play too much, England are just fucking boring, so I ask Tuchel football?or NJ football? or somewhere in between? I’ve not been impressed with Tuchel really, hypothetical question, How would NJ do with the England players?0

Tuchel is proving how good Southgate was.4

100% Duracell bunnies, press the fcuk out of everybody, defend like Trojans, comfortable running with the ball, and a little bit of quality in the final third

Wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of Japanese targets again come up in the summer , probably not anyone from their World Cup squad because they'll mainly be in the big leagues but they fit the mould of players that NJ likes.Six-a-bag-of-nuts said:

Well, this thread makes for a fun revisit. I hope I'm not being premature but I think it's about time for some to admit that Jones has done an amazing job this year. Most on here said they'd be delighted with fourth from bottom, but I don't think they were prepared for how many losses that would mean.
I know football fans are an emotional bunch, but perhaps we can try a more measured approach in future when we go through sticky patches? Our worst run this year came as we lost games to bigger and better teams whilst battling an injury crisis and, obviously, the Millwall game was our rock bottom. The team have battled back, dug in and all but guided us to safety against the odds. This was partly driven by an impressive January transfer window and if you're going to slag Jones off for the Apter/Tanto 'failures', then you have to give him credit for the good signings, too.
Yes he's made some errors along the way, but over the course of the season Jones has done a fantastic job to guide this squad of players to this position and here's hoping he's backed in the summer and we see further improvements next year.29 -
Agreed - he knew Coady would stabilise and motivate. Maybe our key signing this year, all told? Fans wanted to listen to Wrexham fans instead of trust Jones.elbiglad said:Well, this thread makes for a fun revisit. Agree. However, for me he has grossly underused Fullah and JRC, over played Campbell and seemingly can't motivate the team to start home games on the front foot.
Really hoping for 3-4 quality signings in the summer from Chapple rather than NJ1
