That is what I meant about something fishy about this ref (and some others).eastterrace6168 said:
Good post...thickandthin63 said:The referee today was either
1)Registered blind
2)too cowardly to award the penalty
3)Bent
There is no way that is not a penalty he was 5 yards away, perfect view, also referees assistant, what a joke, they dont assist, just give offsides and throw ins, even on throw ins any 50-50 calls they wait for the ref to give the decision.
I am not moaning about the result,Norwich where good, they found space, passed the ball quickly and accurately,we did not. There goal should have been prevented but was not closed down,we did miss opportunities to score, but overall the better team won. This is the standard we must achieve to remain in this league and compete.I dont really think we are that far away,we have the defenders,we have the battling midfielders,in Kelman we have a striker who could well come good, plus Kanu coming back.We need the cool calculating midfielders who can put their foot on the ball and play at their pace,e.g. Norwich nos.21 and 25 who never seem hurried. They would cost money,so I await with baited breath the summer transfer dealings.
By the way, i'd go for option 3...
I have a few suspicions (especially the refs handing out yellow cards like confetti (you know who).
How else do you explain 4 or 5 yellow cards being dished out in the space of 5 minutes and not just our game?
Also the added time?
How does 2 of their players go down at the same time, then they are treated for 3-5 minutes, one of them takes the slowest walk ever to the touchline, not get booked plus all the other substitutions that went on and there was only 5 minutes added on?
I actually misheard and thought they announced 9 minutes added time, I was gobsmacked when they said 5.
It was a very cruel.
There was a actually a third penalty that he missed, but I let him off the first one.
In the first half, Dykes went up for a header in the penalty box and was nudged over in the air.
Norwich were the far better team, but we missed out on a potential draw, thanks to that cheat.

Norwich were just better at cheating their way to victory, aided and abetted by an incompetent at best, some would say bent/complicit so called "referee", most refs I am sure are straight as a die, but being brought down to the levels of the few...0
-
Think something has to be done about poor ref decisions that are costing teams millions players their careers and managers their jobs … Millwall for example beating Blackburn 1-0 , man sent off , how times you watch that you still can’t find one small reason he sent him off .. of course that changes the game .. then on Tuesday or Wednesday they say sorry it was a mistake ??? move on to us we were told on Wednesday that Oxford pen should not have been given again suddenly we are one down instead of winning the game 0-1 ….. I expect we will get another apology this week concerning the clear pen yesterday on Lloyd Jones … whether it’s replaying the game …with pen you could just take that goal off suppose change the result ?? but in the Millwall game .. the game completely changed and who knows that decsion come May could just Millwall 100 mill pounds plus 90 mill parachute payment …!!!!!!! These refs get away with it week in week out

What is our record like when we have these kids for a quid and £5 to get in games, we always seem to lose…
No issues with the day trippers some of them might come back but the first time I have seen a kids buggy brought to a game before 😂0 -
If that’s the case then all hail the refs , bollox to the scum Corinthian spirit has never existed in that world of filth .RonnieMoore said:the game completely changed and who knows that decsion come May could just Millwall 100 mill pounds plus 90 mill parachute payment …!!!!!!!6 -

Wonder who we might have been after as a lot of their signings were from abroad bar Jacob Wright who came on and obviously Makama who's injured.
Although Makama would probably be a Nathan Jones dream striker.

I’d say that losing a game like that is all part of the learning curve. Norwich were better than us and so they should be. Long established Championship and Premier League club. The importance of it be a learning experience is that you learn from it. Not talking too much about the players here because their effort is not in dispute. Most of them are performing at their ceiling. You can’t expect any more than that. Nathan commented several times in his post match interview that we lacked quality when it mattered. That to me tells me he’s accepted that to move us on next term we need to address that quality issue. The owners too will if they saw that game must realise that next season if we want to progress we’ll need to invest. The same as last summer will give us the same season as this. Bottom third and looking downwards not upwards. I think we’re a club now that learns its lessons so yesterday was in a way a positive.5

Don't know why you just didnt name me as it was quite obvious who you were referring to.IAgree said:I have had doubts about the whole wingback system and some aspects of Nathan Jones tactics, selections and style of play. He got us promoted from the horror that is league one after a truly dreadful decade - I know this isn’t something which altogether excuses mistakes now, but this is really recent and a real achievement
He has kept us up when the step from League One to the Championship is larger than ever. Frankly I would rather stay up and get the points than play pretty football and be back in league one! Although I don’t think it’s an either or situation- It’s still in essence a L1 team.
I think it’s fairly obvious that the owners are in it for the long haul and have spent money where and when it matters. They are clearly still learning however. I would far rather have sustainable development than the reckless spending and boom and bust of some of our competitors, especially after the last decade.
I have no problem whatsoever with discussion, debate about the manager, players tactics etc - it’s a football forum after all!
I do find reminiscence for football two or three decades ago very irritating however. I also find the borderline glee from some lifers when we don’t turn in a good performance baffling. Especially since some freely admit they no longer attend, often appearing to revel in a “ I told you so’ repetition of the obvious. We know we need a better team and recruitment, we know we need greater depth, we know we need some finishers and we know we need more flexibility from the manager of occasions. Personally I think if we stay up, carefully build a championship squad and make sustainable investments, that at least some of those concerns will abate
But anyway........
Having seen the extended highlights on Sky my take on the game is that -
We were lucky only to have conceded 1
It was not a pen.
No clear cut chances from any of our players.
And to address a couple of other points.
I think we've been lucky this season to be in a division where 1 team was relegated from the off by having such a big points deduction and then not being able to recruit effectively. Then we were thrown another bonus of having another team deducted points. Without those 2 events we would be in the bottom 4 & struggling to stay up.
Cant wait for this season to end and to see to recruitment planned during the summer. I know I won't get my wish of signing exciting goalscoring attack minded players but at least we should be able to out bid Lincoln to a few stodgy pass it sideways midfielders.
What a time to be alive.11 -

People seriously think the referee was taking a bung? Because he never gave a penalty?
Really?
3 -
Also it affects the bottom of the table. not just Millwall. I think yesterday's ref was incompetent but fortunately it was a game that is unlikely to have a bearing either way. I like the fact that clubs get an apology, and I don't know what happens beyond that but when a ref reaches X apologies in a season, maybe they should get demoted so they have something to lose like the clubs who face the consequences of their decisions. maybe they do, I don't know. Anybody know?RonnieMoore said:Think something has to be done about poor ref decisions that are costing teams millions players their careers and managers their jobs … Millwall for example beating Blackburn 1-0 , man sent off , how times you watch that you still can’t find one small reason he sent him off .. of course that changes the game .. then on Tuesday or Wednesday they say sorry it was a mistake ??? move on to us we were told on Wednesday that Oxford pen should not have been given again suddenly we are one down instead of winning the game 0-1 ….. Agree, the force was enough to put Jones on the ground, he was jumping to get a header and was in mid air,it wouldn't have taken much to pull him backwards and off balance, it was as clear a pen as you could wish for...imoMuttleyCAFC said:

Golfie, I understand you have to keep up the CL persona you have created for yourself, but how you or anyone else don’t see that as a penalty is simply ridiculous. There is enough in the game you could continue to emphasise how bad we are without winding people up about a clear pen. Quite a lot of what you say I agree with, but you do try and push the buttons a little far at times.😂golfaddick said:

Would be very surprised. If we spend £18m on players this summer, without significant sales, then we will be looking at points deductions in the near future. We simply don’t have the revenue to support that level of spending in the championship without breaking the rulesShootersHillGuru said:

Yet again officials who can at best be described as pitifully inadequate change the outcome by misapplying the laws of the game and demonstrating vast inconsistency
The integrity of the competition is dismantled by these bunglers1 -
