Thought we actually played okay and created a few decent chances, could do with NJ stopping the TC experiment now and playing Kelman from the start

Why do we think he didn't give that pen? It was in front of him. What business has the defender got grabbing Jones by the arm. Is that not a foul everywhere else on the pitch? Why isn't it a pen?
Not only did he grab him, he threw him to the floor in good measure.

Referee had a good view of it, as did the linesman.

There is something fishy about some of the officials this season.
    Something is going on.

Looks blatant from that decision, but there was a better angle on replay, and the pull on his arm is a bit soft.
I'd be giving the penalty, because the Defender doesnt need to have his arm on him at all, and wasn't one of those where Jones had a handful of the opposition to rule out any decision for the Referee to make - But I'd possibly be a little miffed if it was given against us.
I sit in the East Stand and i had a good view. It wasn't a soft one, it was similar to the one at Oxford. He grabbed his arm and shoved him over. Clear as day. Indeed, there was one before that he ignored when their player was not only had his arms around our player but had a bear hug round our player. We tried to free ourselves from him and he couldn't get away.

Chants of ‘fucking useless’ and ‘he’s fucking shit’, whilst also getting booed when he wasn’t subbed, and jeered when he was subbed. It’s embarrassing.

This is a lad who joined our academy at the age of 8 and has stayed with us throughout, massively contributing to our promotion last season. Give your head a wobble if you’re one of the ones giving him stick week in week out
Mate come on....he was crap today. Walking back, looking non plussed apart from the last 15.

He needs time out the team and then come on to make the difference and get some confidence.

I don't join in with chants like that but he just wasnt good and hasn't been for a few games and it's okay to see that, it's not scapegoating
Are you joking? Once moved to his actual position he was our most effective attacking outlet, again. People can say what they like about TC, and they often do, but anyone that watches us every match can see that he’s about the only thing we have that relieves the pressure on our defence match in and match out.

If it wasn’t for TC we’d be in a much worse position than we are now.
No I'm not joking. He was terrible.

There is something to be said about playing him in the right position which I have previously said but as a striker, he is poor.

I am fed up of the outlet argument though. Having speed to get up the pitch but have no output is pointless. Dykes is a much more effective outlet when he holds up the ball.

As for last statement, that's the joke. I think Carey, Jones would argue that point. As would 6 goal Kelman and Dykes, who has 2 goals and 3 assists in 13 games than Campbells 3 goals 2 assists in 39 games.
He put in the cross for our best chance of the game, completed the most dribbles of anyone on the pitch, had the joint second most shots, created the joint second most chances, was only beaten on crosses for us by Carey (set pieces) and Clarke (lots of second balls from his throws) and won us countless corners. All while at times being surrounded by 3/4 yellow shirts

Maybe you thought he was terrible but he was one of our most effective attacking players on the pitch and was a decent outlet. Maybe it’s time the players around him got on the end of his crosses and put them in the back of the net.
Not picking on TC, but this shows how meaningless some of these stats are. I think he had one shot which wasn't blocked by someone directly in front of him, and even that one hit a defender and never troubled the goal.

    - that was a clear penalty
    - their time wasting should have been punished, not least by adding at least 10mins
    - it was clear that TC and Dykes don't work together. Should have started Kelman
    - our defence is awesome and is the main reason we are in the position we are

    - atmosphere was flat but I guess that's what happens when you concede so early with the knowledge that a draw is the best we can hope for.
Despite what some people think I really don't think we are out of trouble yet. We need to to grind out at least one more win and a few draws to be safe.
And I'm going to add to your despondency - you've got on the wrong train.

The Newark train won't take you to Bexhill! :-)
Newark is an anagram of wanker.
And 'Newark train' is an anagram of T' Rain Wanker which is the name given to the weatherman on Yarkshire TV.

First match back after a 2 month absence.

Could only manage the first half.

    Onwards And upwards!!

By the way, I’m convinced we’re going to finish in the top 10, trust me!

*The sun was in Mannion's eyes for the goal*

This is something I've frequently thought and occasionally posted  - around the 2 equinoxes we should be kicking to Covered End 1st half when sunny. Seriously. It's a thing.

Look at him shading his eyes in the buildup and look at the length - and direction -of shadows on all players. He reacts late as the sun messed with him due to him looking right at it when the player shoots.

We need to be smarter about the choice of which way to kick and not always go for CE in 2nd half.

Winds me up no end , wear a fucking cap you div … funnily enough there was no hand over the eyes couldn’t see it when he made a similar save later on in the half 🙄

It's crazy that we haven't scored in the first half of a home game since October 18th, against Sheff W.

That's 4 months! We have a lot of potential to improve, that does make me fairly excited (sorry to sound positive!)

Add to that his first full season at this level. I get the frustrations around areas of his game but the abuse is disgraceful! No wonder he doesn’t celebrate with the fans when he scores, I wouldn’t.
    I can’t see this conclusion.

He simply doesn’t score enough (none of his team mates either)  to claim any sort of pattern to how he celebrates.

FWIW I’d not be surprised if he’s had his head turned and he’s off in the summer.
“Having his head turned”. As in his agent being able to say, “look Tyreece you really dont need to take that shit from your own fans each week. Let me get you a move to a club that wants to play you as a winger”.

I hate agents, but could hardly blame this one for saying that to his client.

Sorry but I'm sure the Academy taught him to tackle, pass to another player and cross the ball above ground level.

This seems to have been drilled out of him by the coaching staff.

There are better players in the under 18s and 21s.
Really? In what position?. Ibby Fullah, for all his promise, has not exactly exploded onto the pitch when given the chance. Who else?

They scored early and didn't get out of second gear, but neither did we. Felt like we could have won a point at least, especially in the last 10 minutes, but some poor performances and poor substitutions cost us. Dykes was not in the game, why did he stay on so long? TC was woeful for 60 minutes, then good for 10 minutes, then subbed off. And in the first half, most promising moves broke down around Docherty, who was still on the pitch when the final whistle was blown.

At the end of the day, does today matter? Hopefully not. But please God, can we improve our central midfield next season...
    We will.

He had 3 but my point was less about him really and more about the fact that no one else really got going either but aren’t getting criticised. Lyndon Dykes didn’t take a single shot all game for example

    Usual story:
    opposition pre-match talk:
Get the first goal and you won’t lose
Always worth trying a shot from distance.

Every time TC starts, we are going to get the same dross served up.
He is much better as an impact sub with 20 mins left, using his pace and trickery.

NJ won’t change anything major now, so get ready for more dross against Bristol City and Preston.

Colin is talking out of his arse as usual. Brownie said there are aspects of his game he needs to work on, in order to get the best from his game; and then he qualified it by saying that he is a young player and that’s a perfectly normai situation.

For those who didnt see this on the match thread (and now updated to take into account today's match), these are our scoring stats over 39 matches -

    Not scored     -  10 times   -  25.64%
    Scored once  -  24 times    -  61.54%
    Scored twice  -  3 times      - 7.69%
    Scored thrice  -  2 times     -  5.13%

So you can take from that we score in around 75% of matches, but less than 13% of games do we score more than once.

We seem to set up NOT to concede, but by doing so we are set up NOT to score. If we do concede then we dont win, and invariably only get a point if we don't concede again.

It's one of the reasons I don't go anymore. To me its not football as I know it. In the "old days" (70's, 80's & 90's) both teams went out to win the match. There was excitement, goalmouth action and, usually, goals.

There have been many posts on here recently saying lets wait until the summer & see what the recruitment brings. I agree.......but I just dont see enough money being spent on enough players to be able to change things. Yes, enough will probably be spent to keep us viable & a bottom half team, but will that bring excitement or just more of the same dont lose mentality.

I love the use of the word ’thrice.’ Now that is exciting.

You can look over your shoulder as much as you like. I will not. I don't want a stiff neck. I am looking forward. We are 9 points clear with 7 to play. It ain't great, but it is good enough.

The main thing is there is no sign of heads dropping, the spirit is as good as ever. We play shit football, but we always will with NJ as manager. Just accept it and remember the days of Appleton, Slade and Fraeye.

but we were worth a draw, should have had a penalty
    and hit the Bar.
