Lloyd Jones 2.0

Let’s see if he’s still above TC in the player marks. Plenty still giving him 70

He looked unfit. Was huffing and puffing the entire game and every time I saw him he had his hands on his knees. Hopefully he gets some rest these next two days because when he isn’t on his game I lose faith in the whole defensive structure.0

As I said on the match thread, there was a close up of him walking away from the camera shortly before kick off, and it looked like he was walking slightly stiffly, which did not bode well. Hopefully they can sort him out over the weekend.2

I think he’s looked like that at some stage in each match for the last 3 months plusaliwibble said:As I said on the match thread, there was a close up of him walking away from the camera shortly before kick off, and it looked like he was walking slightly stiffly, which did not bode well. Im not going to make excuses for him. Yesterday was as bad as I have seen him from memory in a Charlton shirt. If he is playing through injury and its got so bad that is how he will perform I think we ae better off resting him up and starting Macca or Gough until he is fitter.
What I will say in his defence, is bad performances are a normal part of the being a footballer and Jones has certainly banked enough credit over the last 2 seasons to be forgiven for mistakes.2 -
Thought it was revealing that his personal goal this season was to play every single match. I really hope he’s not causing himself long term damage by playing through something just for that target1

Poor yesterday, should probably think about getting rid in the summer13

As the season has progressed i have noticed that Lloyd has got more and more handsy with his opposite number. In the weekend on at least three occasions he had his arms all over the PNE player when competing for a high ball. He does this Aussie Rules type climb up the back of his man and throws his arms and upper body weight all over the player. If i had done what he did i am certain I would have conceded a free kick every time.
Long may his dominance in the air continue, but how does he get away with it?0 -
Don’t think he does they’re just never given much in general. Saw it happen with Dykes Saturday as well if the Preston centrebacks were anymore into him they would have found a way to get him pregnant. Centrebacks can get away with a lot of things in today’s game, which is probably why smaller strikers don’t get as much success at this levelKiwiValley said:As the season has progressed i have noticed that Lloyd has got more and more handsy with his opposite number. Overlooked for the Championship Team of the Season2

There were a lot of good CBs this season so the Callum Doyle selection is baffling. Crama was a lock but Doyle wouldn’t have been my 1st, 2nd, or 3rd choice for the other spot. Hollywood FC strikes again.sam3110 said:Overlooked for the Championship Team of the Season3 -
Good. Hopefully keeps him off the radar for clubs who'll punt on team of the season signngs.
Should move heaven and earth to keep him at Charlton as one of the very few in our squad who looks accomplished at this level.10 -
Tbf all it takes is a quick 2 second search of player stats and you can see Jones is the best for a lot of things. Some championship tots based on popularity doesn’t mean anythingRodneyCharltonTrotta said:Good. Hopefully keeps him off the radar for clubs who'll punt on team of the season signngs.

Hopeful he's able to put the distractions behind him pronto and get back to his best. May take some concerted effort but all distractions can be overcome whatever form they come in can't they.

It's time to give Lloyd some real props for what he's done. It's clear he's been playing with more than just a little discomfort lately. Thanks for keeping our defence solid and the Club in the Championship, Lloyd.12

What a player, what a leader. Most compelling centre back we have had since the premier league days8

We would be relegated without him, what a player, legend!6

The desire to win and out-beast every forward in the air is so brave. He's so good.
Another thanks for your graft, quality and bravery.2 -
The way he has seemlessly adapted to the championship has been beautiful to see9

Just like the end of last season Lloyd's body is battered and bruised and so are the bodies of Bell and Ramsay as they have been so overworked but Lloyd Jones has been excellent for CAFC and at 30 he is at the top of his game and doesn't look out of place as a championship class CB.
Great lad who was upset with the booing at Sheff Wed as he took it personally.5 -
Absolutely brilliant. So strong and brave.
Just a shame his thread was closed for half a season for no viable reason.3 -

He's the fastest player in the squad too. We left the Southampton debacle a few minutes before the final whistle, caught a waiting train to Greenwich and went to Bill's for a late lunch.
Lloyd was already in there with a blonde lady, a small child and a bloke who might have been his or her dad. The final whistle could only just have been blown. Impressive!
