The Fox in Keston had a fire last night, although it appears to have started on the first floor and gone upwards.0

Real shame, the owner (Paul) is an addick.Covered End said:The Fox in Keston had a fire last night, although it appears to have started on the first floor and gone upwards.1 -
The lease on the Old Mill in Plumstead is up for sale. Don’t know if that means it’ll be turned into flats or not.Hopefully the fact it’s listed and a difficult layout keeps it as a pub.
Although it’s not what it used to be apart from the music there.1 -
I think the Queen Vic in Walford and the Rovers Return in Weatherfield might both be facing closure in view of how many drinks they give away. They’re “On the House” in practically every episode.1

Don’t remember ever seeing the pubs in the city as busy as tonight3

Was just opening this thread to say the same. Could barely get through Leadenhall earlier. A wonderful sightAFKABartram said:Don’t remember ever seeing the pubs in the city as busy as tonight2 -
That always had the potential to be such a great pub. It's a great looking monster of a pub from the outside.clive said:

Has anyone visited The Vanbrugh in Maze Hill since it re-opened on May Bank Holiday weekend?
If so....what was it like?0 -
I always find it peculiar how everyone on CL refers to The Vanbrugh pub as in Maze Hill.Simonsen said:Has anyone visited The Vanbrugh in Maze Hill since it re-opened on May Bank Holiday weekend?

It's Colomb Street on the junction of Vanbrugh Hill.

It's right next to Maze Hill station, so the area is referred to as Maze Hill.Covered End said:

What you're suggesting is the same as someone saying, "why do people say Charlton play in Charlton, when they play in Floyd Road".
(Anyway, The Vanbrugh is actually on the junction of Colomb Street and Woodlands Park Road)4 -
As I used to live nearby for 20 years, went to school on Maze Hill, worked just off Maze Hill and have frequented The Vanbrugh and it's previous guises. I know exactly where it is and it's not right next to Maze Hill station which is the point I'm making.Off_it said:

I suppose if you live/lived there, went to school there and worked there, you have a different view of the area known as Maze Hill.
A bit like on the news where they refer to Brockley as Lewisham.

One pub on the corner of Colomb Street and Woodlands Park Road and a 10 second walk from Vanbrugh Hill.
The closest pub to Maze Hill station is The Plume of Feathers and the landlord was Jimmy Rose many years ago and I used to hang out with his daughter Maria.

Hardys was the closest to Maze Hill until it closed https://www.fromthemurkydepths.co.uk/2025/11/19/greenwich-pub-hardys-freehouse-changes-near-completion/0 -
It's 100 metres from the end of the platform. I'd say that was pretty close.Covered End said:

Worked around there for years. Always had the best pint of pride - they sold so much it was practically a new keg every day. It was always fresh.Croydon said:
