Jones' press conference

He is like a broken record. Yawnsville0

Tired of the BS. We've been outplayed by every team that we've played for months now.
Just admit it Nathan and try to do something about it.
If we survive, you've done a fantastic job, but it doesn't distract from the fact that we are playing really crap, horrible football.
Greg Docherty came close to admitting it but couldn't quite utter the words "We're playing too shit to win a football match" ATM.5 -

You can say that again.2 -
I do understand the sentiment around the recycled words and the frustration given how poor the football’s been, but in reality this about as deep as it gets with these things. With 3 games to go, I can’t imagine he will start to call the team and the players out publicly, and I’m not sure he’d best served by doing that.I think he’s had an exhausting season and it’s been hard, and I think he’s hanging on, hoping we’ve done enough and will do enough between now and Swansea to stay up.If we do stay up he’s certainly earned another season and hopefully a break, a chance to bring some better, more talented players on the ball is top of mind.I know he’s a bit marmite, but all things considered, I always think he offers up an okay press conference18
-
Don't know what people expect him to say.
You're not going to motivate your players by saying you're shit and get outplayed by everybody you come up against.
Let's get the job done and worry about the aesthetics later21 -
No need to bring @leuth's ex into this5

He won’t have a break he will sleeping at the training ground with Rodwell signing better players!!!cabbles said:I do understand the sentiment around the recycled words and the frustration given how poor the football’s been, but in reality this about as deep as it gets with these things. With 3 games to go, I can’t imagine he will start to call the team and the players out publicly, and I’m not sure he’d best served by doing that.I think he’s had an exhausting season and it’s been hard, and I think he’s hanging on, hoping we’ve done enough and will do enough between now and Swansea to stay up.If we do stay up he’s certainly earned another season and hopefully a break, a chance to bring some better, more talented players on the ball is top of mind.I know he’s a bit marmite, but all things considered, I always think he offers up an okay press conference0 -
In some ways, this poor end can help in terms of making it clear we have to spend well in the Summer.2

We’ve had it all over the last few years: Adkins’ daily positive walking selfie updates, Ben Garner’s philosophical spiel, Holden’s nice guy approach and Appleton’s head down mumbling. Nobody liked any of those really and especially once results turned, understandably.Six-a-bag-of-nuts said:Don't know what people expect him to say.

I think Jones talks sense most weeks. Just like a lot of managers, and people in general, he has phrases and messages he comes back to. The only criticism I have is that in some post match interviews he gets a bit caught up in the moment which impacts his assessments, but that’s no different to most managers.6 -
Jones is just taking each presser as it comes and being the best version of himself, and in terms of everything probably should have won.9

All that is missing is a defensive lapse, and he let's slip what he really thinks...IdleHans said:Jones is just taking each presser as it comes and being the best version of himself, and in terms of everything probably should have won.0 -
“When the seagulls follow the trawler out to sea”
Are you expecting Jones, to turn all Cantonaesque? And of course he gets asked the same boring questions week in week out.4 -
Isnt it Cantonese?sillav nitram said:“When the seagulls follow the trawler out to sea”

If only we just threatened to offer the players we want less salary the longer it took them to sign.golfaddick said:

Really missed a trick there.7 -
Whatever the recruitment strategy was to NOT bring players in late looks like it failed. MacNamara and Grant don't fall into that category, or Milli or Chalaboah, maybe only Koumetio and Mesik.golfaddick said:

Now we are two weeks from the start with no quality engine in midfield.
By the way, NJ only talked about incoherence and lack of quality today, not ,'minutes' or 'pre-season does not matter'.3 -
It’s ok keeping the powder dry and trying to be clever(probably low balling everyone) until you realise all the quality has gone somewhere else or decided to play hard ball back. Hence getting plan c players in too late and not ready for the season. It’s how much value the owners put on being relegated over paying a bit more to try to stay up. We tried to be clever in a weaker division last season and it almost bit us in the arse, looks like we may not have learned a lesson.5

Bipolar life in full flow again, we were looking great after last week's friendly. Now its all doom and gloom again.11

We looked ok for a half, considering the game prior that wasn’t difficult. Our biggest issue is in a position we haven’t got replaced yet, can’t see anything wrong with people’s concerns until this problem is solved.shine166 said:Bipolar life in full flow again, we were looking great after last week's friendly. It’s all excuses for me. Also saying we need to give all players minutes, really don’t. Give minutes to who’s in your plan!!!!4

I agree, just shouldnt let the highs get you too high and the lows too low.Sword65pf said:

Yes, maybe we should arrange more friendlies. I can't see how our players are up to speed fitness wise and nobody will know Jones' starting team so where will the cohesion come from. I have always said though that I can't work Jones out. He contradicts a lot of what I think I know about football but gets success so I accept I just have to trust him based on that and nothing else.21cws said:It’s all excuses for me. Oh please with smart answers. Last friendly before season starts and he’s still changing the whole 11. What we doing next week when we can only make 5 subs? No one is getting close to 80/90 mins. What great match fitness they are going to have.fenaddick said:
And what happens if those in his plan get injured or suspended? Would you then want to rely on players who weren’t match fit?21cws said:It’s all excuses for me. Also saying we need to give all players minutes, really don’t. Give minutes to who’s in your plan!!!!5
