Non League latest....

Went to the Rochester Utd v Lordswood playoff semi last night in the SCEFL. 0-0 at HT then Rochester brought on 5 players loaned from Ashford just for this game and the final, won 4-0.
Absolutely farcical they can have dual registration this late in the season. Needs to be looked at.11 -
Always thought the cutoff for registrations was the end of march in non League? Not suddenly turning up in a playoff semi with 5 new signings from a higher league?2
-
I've seen this said by quite a few people however i think it's pretty unrealistic to expect fans to stay calmly in their seats (or stay standing where they are) when your team scores in the 96th minute of a promotion decider.Rossman92 said:If Rochdale fans had the mentality to storm the pitch after the full time whistle, they’d probably be an EFL club again
Instead, more minutes added giving York time
to equalise
Crazy game2 -
They had Gary Lockyer (rumoured to be on silly money at Ashford, and the top scorer in the FA Cup last or season before) up front. He's never played for Rochester before and neither as any of the others coming off the bench at 60 mins. The Ashford manager is brothers with the Rochester owner, so easy to see what's gone on.MarcusH26 said:Always thought the cutoff for registrations was the end of march in non League? There should be a rule that you must have to play x amount of games or be in x amount of match day squads with exceptions for youth team players or returning from injury.3 -
Well smelly that0
-
And bang out of order on the 5 Rochester boys that have been a part of 34 games this season and been bombed out.4
-
That's ridiculous. Like you say there should be a cut off (i think end of March would work).ValleyGary said:Went to the Rochester Utd v Lordswood playoff semi last night in the SCEFL. 0-0 at HT then Rochester brought on 5 players loaned from Ashford just for this game and the final, won 4-0.

Like you say, it's easy to see what's gone on. There'll be a good few people in the league that will think badly of them for, effectively, cheating. I doubt if any good will come of it for them.0 -
Load of Chatham younguns on my train home to Billericay.Singing away. Don’t think the other commuters are impressed.Might start a Dartford chant

Dual registration. Not good in my opinion. Think Danny Waldron (Cray Valley) was one of themValleyGary said:And bang out of order on the 5 Rochester boys that have been a part of 34 games this season and been bombed out.
Certainly can lead to a conflict of interest in not just out and out cheating0 -
Welling United’s European hopes were also dashed last night.
Jersey lost on penalties0 -
Dartford ex manager Ade Pennant joins Ramsgate1

Croydon v Whyteleaf tonight to see who gets the pleasure of playing Welling, Dartford and Co next season.
Please don’t let it be Croydon.
That would take some motivation to go there on a bleak Tuesday winters night.

A sideways move for Pennock, unless he feels Ramsgate will have a better chance of promotion than Dartford next season.R0TW said:Dartford ex manager Ade Pennant joins Ramsgate
Elsewhere I see Borehamwood beat Forest Green in the NL playoffs. I hadn't realised that Harry Isted was now in goal for Forest Green.0 -
I think Aaron Henry was an unused sub for Borehamwood.0
-
According to some he was complaining about the budget he had, and Ramsgate have some money I believe.killerandflash said:

Personally he is no great loss in my opinion, depending on who we get next. The previous season we nearly won the league and then lost the play off final, so I'd say not getting to the play offs was a failure. Besides, you'd hope to push on from the previous season and we went backwards. Frankly you have to wonder at the forward plan at the club as Ady would be looking at another season had he not decided to leave. Is the Isthmian League a level the board are happy with?1 -
Torquay look home and hosed now. 3-0 up on Dorking Wanderers.2

Se Dons beat Rochester 4-2. Ironically Lockyer got 2 in the final.
1500 people there for a Kent league division one final is unreal.5 -
Looks like being Torquay Vs Hornchurch in the NLS Playoff final.1
-
Yep, although it's at Hornchurch by dint of them finishing higher. Come on you Gulls.MarcusH26 said:Looks like being Torquay Vs Hornchurch in the NLS Playoff final.2 -
Rochdale advance to Wembley with a 2-1 win over Scunthorpe, and will face Boreham Wood for the final place in League Two4
-
Fair play to Boreham Wood, went up via the playoffs from the South last year. One game away from back to back promotions.
Hope Rochdale do it purely because of the season they’ve had.9 -
Hope they do as well. The other mobs place is soulless and does what it says on the Tin.
Never has a clubs name been so apt.1 -
Rochdale definitely deserve it.
To be fair, the other teams have got some pretty decent totals as well. Carlisle 3rd with 95 points, Borehamwood 4th with 90.
A dull ground and club though, heavily supported by Arsenal Women who used to play there. A typical new town in that the families who moved there after the war brought with them support for other teams, which has been passed down. So everyone there supports Arsenal or Spurs.0 -
Whyteleafe also has the amazing Radius Arms micropub around the corner.R0TW said:

I've interviewed loads of fans at BW, and I think 9 out of 10 said words to the effect of "I only come here when Arsenal are not on the telly". Which was extra galling when they beat Dorking and went bananas like it's the greatest thing that's happened in their lifetime.killerandflash said:Rochdale definitely deserve it.

Off to a sold out Spalding v Real Bedford this afternoon, for the Play Off Final of the Southern League Premier Central.
A place in the National League North awaits….1
