I was tempted by Father Collins for the name, that's extra flat and fast I think.
Missed opportunity for renaming it Father Ted there.

Yeah was a gorgeous morning for it. I love running Avery Hill so much. I’ve only ever run two others, but it just feels like ‘home’.

297 runners today with an incredible 51 volunteers.

Brilliant way to start the day

I ran the marathon on Sunday. It was an amazing day, made happier by running past a confirmed Champoinship ground for next season!! I gave a shout out to anyone I saw with a Charlton shirt/hat/flag!

I am super happy to get around in 3hr57 for my first marathon. My pace was really even throughout so I don't think I could have run it any better. I was raising money for my Pancreatic Cancer in memory of my Uncle Ian who was a massive sports fan.  He liked Charlton (and a few other clubs) and donated to the club when we were going back to the Valley. He subsequently got a ticket to the Back to the Valley Game but gave it to my Dad to use.
I have acheived my fundraising target but if anyone is able to donate anything extra would be gratefully received.

Stayed over after the game yesterday and ended up doing the Parkrun in Charlton Park this morning.

A flat course with 3 laps of the circuit and after drinking 7 pints yesterday was unsure how it would go but ended up with a new PB and 30 seconds quicker than my time back in October last year at my local Parkrun which has 3 times the amount of participants in it and has some steep inclines in places as well

A time of 28:50 and spotted Inspector Sands crossing the finishing line as i was getting my breath back.

Next one Will probably be the start of next month and Will be the local one
New PB of 28 minutes and 40 Seconds back at the local Parkrun which had over 600 people taking part this morning

Beat my best time by 10 seconds and 40 seconds quicker for my local run.

Well done to the tall fella in the Blue and Black away shirt from 2009/2010 who sailed past me after 2k.

Moved from Bethnal Green to Lee yesterday and did Sutcliffe Park for the first time this morning. Nice flat course and good to chat to a few addicks afterwards. Looking forward to making my way round the other local ones

Got lapped by a Charlton fan at Market H'bro this morning. Shouldn't be allowed in parkrun etiquette. Felt like shouting. "Oi, Addick! No! You do not come onto my patch and lap me. That's bang out of order!" and I'd be right wouldn't I?

What worse, he was running with a Spurs fan I think. 😧

If he hadn't finished so far ahead of me, he might have still been there for me to meet after, but he didn't hang about.

    Was it Andy Peake?

Too young. He was a Leicestershire lad though wasn't he.

We did Gnoll near Swansea as Swansea Bay was cancelled. It worked out well, Gnoll is lovely and very Welsh (green, hills, a waterfall).

We did meet a couple of other Charlton fans there too.

Did Royal Tunbridge Wells parkrun yesterday - phwoar, what a beauty! Some deceptively difficult hills, though, and you can tell where it was clearly a quagmire during the winter because the mud is now hard and rutted, with hundreds of footprints baked into it!

Not posted on this thread for ages - other recent tourism adventures have been Tonbridge (really nice, loved the lake, a bit congested though), Wickford Memorial and Roding Valley (which was surprisingly nice!).

A new one has started on Canvey Island, neatly between the two football clubs there. https://www.parkrun.org.uk/thorneybaybeach/

After finishing the London Marathon on 26 April 2026 I was asked what my fundraising page is. I didn't set up because I got my place by booking at a travel agency. From 09 May 26 on I'm taking part in the Riesenbecker Sixdays (www.riesenbeckersixdays.de). So I thought that's ideal to start fundraising for Charlton Athletic Community Trust.

What an effort from your brother. I have an ultra itch I’ll need to scratch at some point. I did the reverse London last week and was talking to a couple of ultra runners before. One is doing the UTMB Majorca. Look it up, it’s insane. The other guy did a backyard ultra last week year which I’ve had my eye on but places are difficult to get. I’m going to do a 100km week challenge in a couple of weeks so I’ll see how i get on with that and find a decent ultra later in the year or next year if I can crack It.

I won a place at one of the UTMB majors in Val D’Aran a couple of years back.

DNF’d after reaching marathon distance. Absolutely brutal mentally more than physically. Put me off running for a while. On reflection was very grateful to have the chance to experience but never again. Maybe.

I did Tilgate on Saturday. An absolutely beautiful park with a boating lake and a little zoo.  I even managed to see a couple of emu on the way round.
Its quite interesting as it has two different starts, one for anyone who is sub 27 minutes and another for everyone slower than that, the two starts merge after about 200 meters. A really lovely parkrun on varied terrain.
My girlfriend ran despite still having blisters and sore feet from running London Marathon last week. They are pretty tough these South Africans haha!

I am a regular runner, but for the last week I've been sidelined by a crunching pain in my hip. It seems to be GTPS which is basically...pain in your hip. I've been doing some stretching and strengthening exercises but it's SO frustrating. I have a lot of old injuries and disorders that lead to me having a pretty high pain tolerance, but I just can't shake this. It will get better, right? I'm just scared as I've never really had this before.

Just turned 40, my body fell apart. Typical.

Sorry, I really just needed to rant. But it's lovely reading about some of you lots' runs. Keep it going! It's so good for your physical and mental health! <3
