The bad news is that it seems that we are destined to be deducted by 3 bonus points following our slow over rate. I know we only bowled 2 overs of spin in the match but, even so, this isn't acceptable.

All of that said, following my successful predictions that we would beat Derbyshire and Gloucestershire, my sanity has been restored. Just!!!

Back to back wins for the mighty Spitfires.

Forget Division Three, is it time to look upwards to Division Two mediocrity!

That was tense. I'd never heard of Taylor before this game, as he was a fringe player at Surrey, who had never got a 5fer or 10fer in any format before. Clearly he was inspired this week by being surrounded by better players.

Back to back wins. When did that last happen? Was Clive Mendonca playing for us when that last happened.

Shame about the bonus points but at least 2 of them are battling points which we normally fail to get

Only Durham have won more games than us in the division now. And only Durham have lost less games than us too.

Small steps but definitely something to build on. We need to stop relying on the likes of Muyeye and Evison to bail us out but the really positive thing is that we have bowled the opposition out for 304, 158, 325 and 262 in the last four innings. Something that we were mostly incapable of doing last season and the beginning of this.

I suspect that Dudgeon might be rested for the next game with Milnes returning given he has bowled over 150 overs to date. That would still leave us with Milnes and Taylor plus any three from Cohen, Jas, Stewart, Quinn, Ekansh, Evison and Parkinson depending on fitness and the nature of the track.

You don't have to be a masochist to be a Charlton and Kent supporter but it helps !

James Taylor, you've got a friend after taking 10 wickets on debut and then bizarrely Joey Evison was content to let JT have the strike which TBF he got Kent over the line.

In my negativity I thought Bell and Williams were going to get the win for Gloucestershire and take the last couple of wickets.

    Opened the bowling. Right-arm, medium-quick out-swing with a well-disguised in-ducker.

Batted like a true no 10.

Credit to Muyeye, Taylor and Benjamin but also to Singh and Cohen who ensured we had four bowlers that Gloucester didn't have

Jake Lintott joins on loan until the end of the blast, also able to play in the county champ

Not even the middle of May, and the second domestic loan signing. He's a T20 specialist, seeing that at the age of 33 he's played THREE first class games, the last back in 2024.

It does beg the question, who's injured now?

He's leaving Warwickshire anyway at the end of the season so probably an extended trial to have a look at if you want to make it permanent.

He's different though. He's not a seamer, who are the ones that are injured, but a "chinaman". We only really have Parkinson, Joe Denly and Muthusamy (assuming his signing hasn't fallen through) as none of the other spinners on our books are ready to bowl a lot of overs in any form of the game and none of the existing ones turn the ball away from the left handers as a stock ball. The signing just improves our options.

I very much doubt that either Compton or Northeast will be playing in the Blast and we could see us lining up something like this:

    Muyeye
    Crawley
    DBD
    Denly (Joe) / Benjamin
    Billings
    Evison
    Muthusamy

Plus any four from Stewart, Milnes, Rogers, Dudgeon, Parkinson, Lintott and Klaassen

Without even considering the aforementioned Compton and Northeast there remains the likes of Finch, Quinn, Cohen, Dawkins, Ekansh, Jas, Jaydn and Curtiss who will figure in the Metro no doubt.

Another new signing. Batting all rounder Dian Forrester joins for the blast. He played with Billings in the PSL recently for the RawalPindi Pindiz

Also buried in there is that Senuran Muthusamy won't play in the blast but will be coming over for the championship after

Which explains the signing of Lintott.

Clearly signing for Kent was the springboard Forrester needed. He’s just been signed by CSK in the IPL as a replacement for Jamie Overton. He’ll still come to Kent after his time carrying drinks is over
