When Surrey play women's games there they provide additional ground staff.

There is a slope which probably caused the problem with the covers.

Getting Tunbridge Wells back up to county standard should be speeded up.

I believe that Kent additional ground staff to Beckenham from Canterbury too. A leak is usually caused by the covers not being up to standard. not put on properly or are blown out of position. It is totally embarrassing.

The issue with TW is who pays for that? In addition to the dressing rooms, the pavilion and the scoreboard needing to be upgraded, the last time I was there the square and outfield weren't up to standard. The Kent 2s game due to be played there had to be transferred to Polo Farm because the outfield was considered too dangerous. It isn't financially viable for Kent to fund that and the council, who own the ground and employ contractors to tend to it, probably don't have the money/willingness to do so either.

Now, very occasionally I have in the past suggested that there might be a bit of value in backing Kent. The 20/1 (1/2 the odds to reach the final) currently available for us to win the Vitality Blast is certainly inviting.

It wasn't even heavy rain or especially windy either. Unlike when Storm Dave hit the game at Chester-le-Street earlier in the season.

I hope this makes the club reconsider using Beckenham again, horrible, soulless ground, at least Nevil had so much character.

Issues appear to be sorted overnight and we will have play at 11

Yesterday's embarrassment must never happen again but, should this game finish, as it is likely to, in a draw then perhaps we should look at the bigger picture and take into account the fact that we were on the wrong side of a couple of games this season only for the weather to intervene.

Palace must have turned off the sprinklers next door then.

Adam Hollioake explained: “It was wet. We’ve got the dome covers that get wheeled onto the main pitch, then sheet covers across the rest of the square and the bowlers’ run-ups. One of the covers has split, the water that was pooled on the covers has run onto the pitch and been concentrated in one area, which is quite a dangerous part of the pitch. Of concern to the umpires was the follow through for bowlers at that end. It’s the first stride after bowling, and if someone slips on that, which is quite likely, you are dealing with injuries, and the last thing anyone wants to see is someone getting injured.”

Hollioake added: “It’s really frustrating, not just for us but all the spectators. The irony is that when we were at Durham first game of the season, they were on top, and then we had a similar cover leak.”

The game at Durham was impacted by Storm Dave, not a bit of light rain though.

As Hollioake says it is the pooled water on the cover that split which cause the continual leak onto the same spot that was the issue. How a cover splits like that is, I agree, a different debate.

Milnes earlier had Bedingham brilliantly caught in the slips for this third wicket. Currently 198-6

I know they're there for Gay and Stokes but nice to see comments like this from national journos

Really like the look of Ekansh Singh at Kent. Stylish bat and much quicker with the ball than I expected

Stokes needs the batting practice,  so Durham should declare and let him bat again

Potts skews a short one in the air off Ekansh which is caught by Banjamin for 23 (18). 288/9

And because of that wicket, we get an extra half an hour to get the final wicket before lunch

Our inability to get the tenth wicket is infuriating

This is getting impossible to watch on the stream.

Not just the inability of our lads to finish off the opposition but the picture constantly breaking up, buffering, lack of commentary & glimpses of the Keystone Cops at times, is doing in my old 'ead.

TBH, to have the coverage free of charge is admirable but when I've checked other streams currently playing around the country, the quality seems 100% better.

Come on KCCC. Get your act together !

No refunds but I'm sure the Durham supporters will be really pleased with the alternative that has been offered!

This has been a regular thing for us but, to be fair, Raine has a couple of hundreds and 20 fifties to his name and Parkinson is probably twice as good a batter as out number 11, who happens also to be his twin brother, as he averages almost 17.

Probably irrelevant anyway but getting close to the point where we won't be able to enforce the follow on here

At least despite our inability to bowl them out we have maximum bonus points (unless punished for slow over rate once more) so a decent return from the almost inevitable draw.

Recognising Raine is a tailender, and very decent one at that, that was a real ripper by Parkinson. Pitched well outside off, and appeared to hit his leg stump. Small victories.
