To anyone more familiar with the Scotland team than I am: Is it going to come down to Dykes or McBurnie for a spot in the squad?
Steve Clarke said he will partly be picking the squad on loyalty, I think Dykes is nailed on for a spot
You also don’t take him to the last set of international games before the World Cup if your not going to take him

McBurnie is a much better player than Dykes but he’s also a massive dickhead. Don’t tend to want those in your squad for a tournament, especially if they aren’t going to be first choice

Hasn’t Clarke not picked McBurnie for ages because he let him down a couple of times?

Stevie Clarke has already told McBurnie he’s not going to the World Cup. It’s not really about what’s happened at club level recently, Dykes has been a great servant & McBurnie has -let’s say - not. Clarke operates a club style system so someone like Dykes makes more sense.

Especially if that club is like Charlton and has mastered the art of Hoofball.

Ross Stewart is another player out in the cold, despite being much better than Dykes, and now fit and healthy.

Ross Stewart is back in the squad.

Clarke clearly appreciated Dykes for the all round work he does.

He'll need to bag plenty in three games then.
Score 8 goals against Haiti and do nothing for the rest of the tournament

I’ve got tickets for Scotland v Haiti, with my scots friend. I’m torn now - I need a Haiti win and a Dykes goal.

He is until the 30th June be interesting to see if this World Cup changes anything whether that be an injury or him playing very  well or poorly

We’ll presumably get some money from FIFA for Lyndon’s participation, given that he’s under contract until 30 June.

It would have been a tidy sum with our 3 Jamaican lads had the team not bungled qualifying.

Discussed at some point that with some back of the fag packet maths the money we get likely pays for his wages while here. It's a great bit of business

How he got the call up over McBurnie I don’t know. Good luck to him, is he the first player at the World Cup since Ghoochannejhad?

Seriously though, looking through their squad quite a few play in decent leagues in Europe.....certainly wouldn't right them off....well at least against Scotland.

Possibly the first and last time an open top bus parade has been given before a ball has been kicked in anger, as 30,000 Sweaty Socks packed into Hampden to send them off to the Argentine.

The team's welcome home was a bit more subdued.

From Scotland's pov, a ridiculous decision.  I've read somewhere that Clarke doesn't like him as a person.  If true, sad/pathetic.

No way he should be there instead of McBurnie.

He's scored 3 goals in 20 for us this calendar year, and it's up in the air whether he'll be a Red come next season.

Why the love-in for him?   Or is it more anti McBurnie?     I don't understand.

Maybe Clarke has a 'no dickheads' rule. McBurnie def seems to be a dickhead.
