That really isn’t an excuse. Yes car parks could do with having bigger spaces, but that doesn’t excuse being selfish like in the picture.ME14addick said:
Doesn't want to get the car scratched. I do think that spaces in car parks need to be made wider now that so many cars almost fill the space, with no room to open the door. I often have to park with the passenger side as close to the white line as possible, so that I can get back into my car, especially if a massive SUV parks next to me. My replaced knee doesn't bend well, so I need room to get in and out of the car. I think the time has come for me to apply for a blue badge.Algarveaddick said:
Also, I would argue that parking like that means you’re more likely to get scratched because some people are so angered by this that they might take it upon themselves to give the car a keying. Not that I’m condoning that of course.1 -

Seems to me to be on a level with having 'skin in the game'. WTF! Whatever sort of game are they're playing that needs skin in it? Sounds disgusting to me and I want no part in it.man_at_milletts said:

Mention of the Inter Toto cup on the 'Palace Fans Embarrasing Themselves Again' thread which led someone into mentioning Tonto - and this to the Lone Ranger.
What annoys me is the fact that I couldn't leave it there because (a) I immediately remembered the Tonto joke from my schooldays and (b) I couldn't remember the name of Tonto's horse.
This then impelled me to a good 20 minutes Google research, which has led on to some fascinating information that I'll probably forget again. Tonto (of course) rode a Pinto horse called Scout. But did you know in the original radio series Tonto rode a white horse called White Fella? Huh, you didn't did you? Well of course this didn't bode well for TV - you could hardly have Tonto's horse clash with the magnificent Silver. There was an interim period when the Pinto horse was named Paint Horse before he became Scout.
Oh er ... What did Tonto say after the Lone Ranger asked him where he was going - galloping across the prairie - with a dustbin on his back? "To the dump, to the dump, to the dump, dump dump. (theme tune for you youngsters)
Anyway no need to thank me for this info from the (Hi Ho) Silver Surfer Raith.

Dropping my phone on the way to the Station yesterday and having the screen go black... Didn’t even crack, but guess a good few years of dropping it has put strain on the device so now going to have to look for a new one.I don’t even spend much time on my phone, don't really need to WFH most times, but travelling into London yesterday and you realise how important they are.Thankfully took my wallet so didn’t have to rely on Google Pay, but the District Line from Tower Hill got cancelled on the way back home, so had to walk to Whitechapel for the Elizabeth Line whilst not knowing where I was going without Google Maps, so had to check the maps dotted around, and was walking over there not knowing if the Elizabeth Line had trouble either. Then when I got back to my car @ Abbey Wood, had no idea of traffic on the way home, so just had to cross my fingers and hope that I wasn't driving straight towards a huge traffic jam due to an accident, when it could have been avoided being recommended another way.Comes back to "How did we cope beforehand" but I feel those are such useful features that we shouldn't have to long for the "old days"3

WTAF indeed.
In fact, what is the point ?
As each day, accompanied by each additional piece of "news" ( now called " heartbreak" ....) reaches our eyes & ears, any optimism that the UK will be able to recover from its current free fall into oblivion decreases yet another notch.
The films envisaging " 24 Hours/Later " encapsulate my vision of our country following a cataclysmic breakdown of life as we've known it - no need for a virus of the killing kind though....but a different kind which is spreading like wildfire amongst us & dismissed by many as pernicious & dangerous rhetoric.
Yet all the discussion on here ignores this & concentrates on the impact on our future by global warming....
The Fanackapans may well have crossed " The Rainbow Bridge" by then but our grandchildren , already feeling the effects in their teenage years of the uncertain future, will be the victims of the horrors already creeping into our lives.
That's all I have at this moment in time but Arsentatters' post released this "prophecy" that has been building inside me for some time & whether you want to hear it or not, maybe it's time to have a long hard think as to whether my words have any relevance whatsoever for you & your loved ones.
Or has Fanny finally lost the plot ?
IF this post is allowed to stand , and I have my doubts, I'll be interested to hear your honest views as to the direction we are heading in this country that we "all" love.
(No need to mention the "P" word though.....)3 -
Can only speak for myself but if I were the father of the victim, my response to the judge's pathetic failure to incarcerate the perpetrators for a good long time would be to administer natural justice which would involve inflicting permanent physical damage on the little twats.
I'm far from a right winger, but we are far too soft in our punishments here.6 -
The sentencing is under review, I am sure they will do time. The judge should be retired.
You only have to look at some of the online abuse dished out to women from some men (who claim to be taking certain actions to "protect" women and children) when they don't like what they have to say - The comments aimed at Carol Vorderman from Rob Kenyon and the claim by his party that it was "lockeroom banter" being a good example.
The president of the USA is a sex offender.
If they are the examples those at the top are setting, while the perperators are ultimately to blame, it does not help.4 -
This Country needs a total reset ( so does the world but we can’t effect that) our politicians regardless of party are either deluded or so estranged from the real world it is farcical. I’m glad I’m not my grandkids having to grow up in this situation. As a country we appease the workshy and a life on benefits has become a career choice for many. Youth unemployment is ridiculous and our politicians have created that by making it impossible to recruit youngsters ( I employ over 130 full time staff members and into this year recruited 12 apprentices every year but this year it’s 4 !! Their answer is always that they speak to large employers etc but it’s not those companies that drive the economy it’s the SME’s that do that and they are ignored. On crime did anyone watch the documentary this week on the super prison with Richard Madley ? Absolutely sub human and shocking treatment but in 5 years the country has gone from the most dangerous on earth to the safest. Yet we allow crime to basically go unpunished unless you’re caught doing 24 mph in a 20 limit ! Somewhere in between these extremes would be ideal4

If they actually made the punishment fit for the crime there would be a lot in the upper echelons of power in serious trouble one imagines.0

I imagine if/when they actually get a spell in an offenders unit they will be on the receiving end of grief from the other inmates. I guess like adult prisons they will be segregated from the main population due to being sex offenders.IdleHans said:Can only speak for myself but if I were the father of the victim, my response to the judge's pathetic failure to incarcerate the perpetrators for a good long time would be to administer natural justice which would involve inflicting permanent physical damage on the little twats.

No you haven't lost the plot FF. The country is going to the dogs. A lot of the problems we have are down to illegal immigration. Whether that is lack of housing, drain on the NHS, a rising social bill or migrants who have been here just a few months sexually assaulting and raping women and girls and once found guilty we don't even send them packing because of Keir's reluctance to leave the ECHR. Farage will get in next election for these reasons alone. So many decent people are just so fucked off with it all. If that makes me a racist then so be it but I'm not. If people of whatever race, colour etc want to come here legally, work, adhere to our laws, behave, and contribute to society then I'm all for it but if not then don't bother coming.Fanny Fanackapan said:

I'll say this before the thread is shut down. It's not illegal immigrants that are to blame. The number is 200,000 since 2018 when we left the EU, it's about 6% of the total population. There are certain parties using the tactics of telling everyone that the country is so bad, when it really isn't. They blame immigrants for all the problems, but cannot see how it's the billionaires that pay their employees so little, that the state has to top up their earnings. Most benefits are for people in work.LargeAddick said:

This is a country that has always prided itself on being tolerant and caring for those less fortunate. Now we have certain parties blaming the sick, disabled and immigrants for all the problems. The NHS couldn't run without the wonderful foreign born staff. Far right parties create fear, hate and division and unfortunately, for some it is working, and they demonise those people. Racism, Homophobia, islamophobia, anti-Semitism, xenophobia, racism have no place in a civilised society.
Yes, the sentencing of the boy rapists was appalling but that is the on the judge and hopefully will be reviewed by the Court of Appeal.
A candidate for a far right party in the Makerfield bye-election has agreed that he is sexist, made vile sexual comments about Carol Vorderman, thinks women should have no control over their bodies, yet his party pretends to be worried about the safety of women and girls. Utter hypocrites.
Asylum seekers seeking sanctuary from war, persecution and famine would like to work and contribute but are prevented from doing so, that needs to change.

Thanks to Large & KBsLS , I feel vindicated in my posting my thoughts.
Maybe we should have a poll with the options A - agreeing on the whole with Fanny & likeminded Lifers & B - agreeing on the whole with ME14....although I can't prevent myself from pointing out that I know someone who recently attended a Stag weekend in Albania ( true !) & there was no sign of persecution, war or famine there ...
I , for one, would find the results extremely interesting.2 -
