I think putting half naked 15 year old girls in a newspaper is bad enough.

The Independent Football Regulator has contacted West Ham over "extremely serious allegations" raised about the club's co-owner David Sullivan and said it is seeking "urgent information" from him about his suitability for the role.

  • BBC demonstrating a complete lack of self awareness in the part (former Daily Sport editor) "Tony Livesey came up with the countdown to 16 idea with Sullivan. He's been a presenter for BBC 5 Live for the last 15 years".

Mandlseon-esque background checks then if they're taking the moral position that it's grim as fuck (which the countdown stuff was).

Mind you probably very low on their nonce criteria given their track record of looking the other way for far more heinous stuff over the years.

In the NFL other owners can vote out an owner for various reasons and force them to sell - wouldn’t be a bad idea here.

Amazing how Baroness Brady is keeping her name out of all this. I haven’t seen the Panorama programme -did she get a mention even in passing?

Should be a short conversation, what do they expect him to say given that "Sullivan has categorically denied the claims".

Thats astonishing levels of blissful ignorance on her part. I've said for years to anyone who will listen to me that she has gotten where she has by tagging onto some incredibly unsavoury people
  • If Sullivan has stood down, and Brady has resigned who is actually running the Hammers?

Someone needs to be authorising the daily decisions.
Contracts, Transfers, Staff wages, and general day to day bills.

Wasn’t she someone they already knew and thought she was what was needed for the role at the time.  Same as happened at Charlton when Roland brought in someone he knew. It probably worked out a bit better at Birmingham with the 23 year old than it did at Charlton with the 30 year old

Brady worked in telesales, firstly at Saatchi & Saatchi after leaving school and then moved to LBC where she, apparently, generated substantial revenues. Sullivan then took her to Sport Newspaper where she “quickly rose through the ranks” and was appointed to the Board at the age of 20!

Fair play to Lady Brady…that really is a supercharged “career journey” over 2-4 years 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤔

Rich Dad with connections, including (I think) printing the Daily Sport.

Most of the allegations against Sullivan have him preying on much more vulnerable girls than she was.

Not saying for a second she didn't know very well what he was like though.

I’m sure she basically got her dad’s friends to buy loads of ad space on LBC.

I’m not saying this makes it right in any way, shape or form but, as a female, I find it hard to believe that woman going into the glamour model industry didn’t know this sort of thing went on. There was plenty of it in the bloody civil service at that time! ‘Sleeping your way to the top’.
Like I say, it doesn’t make it right, but I think there was a level of choice to be made before going for a job like that. And for those under 16, as has already been said, where were their parents in this?

Well I worked in the Civil Service in those days, and nobody asked to sleep with me!

Remember it was very dilapedated there at the time and Sullivan needed someone for a new erection.

In the mid 90's I went to a Leadership mentor talk in Greenwich, led by then Karen Brady. She talked about the FIFO principle. Her version was Fit In or Fuck Off

I agree totally with you on this point. Obviously this is all very wrong however you have to take the times into account. When I talk to my kids about how things have changed ( for the better I might add ) they cannot believe the stories from my early days at work and the stuff that went on, it was just acceptable then and if it happened today the law courts would be full of claims

Think this could be the tip of the iceberg and this was all they can legally say for now.
He’ll easily be brown bread way before they get to the whole story . That’s probably what the police and the CPS are waiting around for anyway.

Yes, it happened at the Bank of England as well. (Not quite "The top" but a decent role none the less.)

Anyway, without commenting at all on Sullivan but just about his line of work in general, here's a story for you.
I once had a print buying role many years ago.  One of the printers we used also happened to have the contract to print the calendar for a popular "adult" magazine so I got to meet their Art Director whose main job was selecting the photos to be used for all their calendar products.  (He used to shift through 1000s of photos of naked women - hard work but someone has to do it.)
So, two things, first the young ladies featuring in the magazine had a contract that gave them a significant bonus if they were selected to feature in the calendar.  I  was told a significant number of them were quite happy to offer up sexual favours in exchange for being chosen as Miss January (or whatever). Second a fair number of them also had side gigs working on stands at trade fairs/exhibitions, etc. They were selected because they were happy to join favoured customers back at their hotels.
In short, as you'd expect, it was a sleazy industry. Anyone going into it without realising that would have been extremely naive.
Useless fact of the day: the striptease style photo sets that often used to feature in smutty mags were actually done backwards. The girls started off naked and then got dressed as the photoshoot progressed. This to avoid any unsightly lines on the flesh caused by elastic in underwear. Back in the day you could always spot a glamour model going to an assignment on the tube: very baggy tracksuits (so they didn't arrive with said elastic indentations) and carrying a little vanity case with makeup and costume for the set.

I hadn’t ever looked into her background, so had a look and can see her dad printed Sullivan’s rags…and was Swindon chairman at one time.

The person who bought all that ad space at LBC which so impressed David Sullivan that he gave her a job and put her on the Board within 2 years was…one David Sullivan!!  🤣

She has been totally entwined in Sullivan’s businesses for nearly 40 years.  I’m sure she knows nothing 😗

The BBC presenter Tony Livesey is to “step back” from his radio show after allegations were raised about his previous career as the editor-in-chief of David Sullivan’s Sport Newspapers.

Yeah his prior high profile career and autobiography would never have been discovered or known by the BBC had Panorama not made this.

Something more to it all than what was shown last night surely as his implication in the programme was literally in his autobiography/ book back in 1998.

It’s alleged he locked them in a room and forced them to have sex. That’s not sleeping your way to the top, it’s rape.
