It still amazes me that with all the money companies spend on getting their brands right in the opinion of the person charging them a fortune to revamp them every now and again how so many of them don’t, imo, seem to consider how that brand comes across when they put it on a football shirt. To me, a lot of sponsors names or logos plonked on a football shirt just make the company look cheap or tacky. Some work, some just don’t.2

I left disappointed as there were three staff in the shop and not one came over to ask if there was anything they could do for me, that was no big deal, but they could have at least made the effort. What was very disappointing was the the two young lads behind the till were chatting away and using foul language that I could hear at the rear of the shop.On the way out one of them said "thanks mate", this was not in sarcastic tones I hasten to add. This was the first thing they had said in the 5-7 minutes I was browsing around.

Another appointment in this link, Hannah Darnborough new Head of Retail & Licencing coming from Formula E but previously spent time at Leeds. On Formula E, been a bit of a flop since the initial buzz around a new category in racing, some of these appointments not exactly filling me with confidence but she does at least have a football & wider sports background, not much you can do if the product is crap0 -
Not sure Formula E is a flop. The initial hype has obviously gone (it's had 11 seasons now, so a mature product), but it's year on year growth figures are still impressiveYannTheMann said:fenaddick said:

Probably should have done some homework before speculating, that is indeed impressive given the driver stock & product imo0 -
I watch the odd race. My biggest issue is that cars are quite small, so you'd think there would be loads of room to overtake, but then they make the circuits ridiculously narrow. I get that their plan of having temporary street circuits in iconic locations has worked (plus makes direct speed comparisons with other formulas difficult as they don't race on the tracks), but it often means they are space constrained and therefore lose out on what should have been one of the major benefits of the compact car size.YannTheMann said:randy andy said:

I have seen plenty of Formula E commercial decks and they massively bullshit their broadcast numbers and subsequent commercial asks. Its all a load of guff.
It is a great B2B mechanism and proof point for a tech and sustainability narrative but the reality as a consumer / fan focussed format is that it is seriously lacking.0 -
My biggest problem with it is the TV rights deal has been terrible for years. The racing is good when you can actually find it. Currently it's hidden away on ITVX and the promotional side of the series is absolutely terrible.DamoNorthStand said:I have seen plenty of Formula E commercial decks and they massively bullshit their broadcast numbers and subsequent commercial asks. Will be interesting to see if the new cars coming for Generation 4 later this year changes anything , they're having to ditch Excel anyway.0 -
I don't know where I heard/read this but I thought RSK where happy to be shirt sponsor but also happy to stand aside if another party with deeper pockets became available. Pure speculation but I wonder if a sponsor change is in the offing and hence the delay in new shirts being released. (Gavin did say that there would be some announcements in the coming weeks - or did I make that up as well?)Swisdom said:The wording on the RSK deal was slightly ambiguous. No idea if it will be them this year or not but I assume we'll find out in a few weeks
Having said that - if we got a new one it couldn't be any worse than Spud Bros which was a particular favourite of mine last season

As is the way with the civil engineering industry, I was at a project meeting with an RSK consultant recently. He said as far as he was aware they were continuing the deal. Apparently one of their top management is an Addick.
Health warning on that - this was one of their environmental engineering staff, not their marketing team, so not insider knowledge.4 -
True re one of the senior management being a Charlton fan. I have a couple of friends that work there, they’re based in Leeds. I believe there’s also some Millwall in their ranks…Swindon_Addick said:As is the way with the civil engineering industry, I was at a project meeting with an RSK consultant recently. Said this before but I hope/wish they take the kit in a more 90s inspired Reebok “heritage” direction. A bit like the stuff released in Jan this year

From the website. Supporters will get their first look at the 2026/27 home shirt on Thursday, July 2nd on the club's website and social media channels. The new kit will be worn for the first time the following day when the men’s first-team begin their pre-season schedule at Princes Park against Dartford.cafcfan said:

I heard they have delayed the unveiling to coincidence with the new signings. We will announce a very high profile free transfer that day and he can be filmed wearing it.
Yes that is all made up.4 -
Thanks cfgs, it's always good to have a spare extra bit of bullshit held back on this thread...cfgs said:I heard they have delayed the unveiling to coincidence with the new signings. We will announce a very high profile free transfer that day and he can be filmed wearing it.

the guy from RSK who is an Addick drove to the Peterborough game that got called off shortly before kickoff - i think he said he was from Blackpool area but i might be wrong. He was angry that he hadn't been there long enough to charge his electric car and had to wait an hour to get sufficient charge to get all the way back. t'was quite funny
We ended up giving Charlie Methven a lift - and a grilling - on the way home1 -
I'd be angry too if I had to go back to Blackpool sooner than expected.Swisdom said:the guy from RSK who is an Addick drove to the Peterborough game that got called off shortly before kickoff - i think he said he was from Blackpool area but i might be wrong.
