So all 10 wickets fall for about 120 runs at the end of the innings. Very good from England today

That's a damn good effort by England today .Stokes deserves all the credit for his bowling and captaincy. Blundells dismissal was inspired. Now ..let's get NZ to bake under the sun for 5 sessions.3

As someone who is quick to criticise this England team I can only say well played & hats off to them.
To get 10 wickets in 120 runs in this heat is more than anyone could ask for.
Over to the batters to see if we can get 400+ and back in the game.3 -
Wicket is a road, bowlers have done incredibly well and that’s how your opener gets out1
-
Making it look like a minefield as only England can do!0

India are playing a T20 against Ireland at Stormont. Anyone after some amusement might want to glance at the scorecard - currently 7 overs to go, 72 needed and 4 wickets standing.0
-
Kiwi 'reserves' being clobbered all round Trent Bridge .. Duckett in full flow is great to watch and Bethell looks to be back in form1
-
Great effort this with both bat and ball1
-
Nice to see Bethell finally get some first innings runs. First time he’s passed 20 and now he’s got 501

Found a commentary feed on the BBC website. Great fun.Swindon_Addick said:India are playing a T20 against Ireland at Stormont. Anyone after some amusement might want to glance at the scorecard - currently 7 overs to go, 72 needed and 4 wickets standing.1 -
England 180~1
30 overs
Trail by 258.1 -
And that Ireland side that's won is missing most of their big guns. No Stirling, Little, Campher , Mark Adair or Balbirnie.1
-
England 223~2
Trail by 215.
Stumps, Day 2.1 -
224-4 Root and Bethell out already, England still over 200 behind.0

What might Australia and NZ start doing in this situation? For a start, they would ensure that their bowlers are bowling a consistent line and length and no width. And then they might just get Carey or Blundell to stand up and exert a bit of pressure albeit by dropping the pace down to say 80mph in doing so. Smith has to be up to doing that though.
We allowed NZ an opening stand of 317 and not once did we have the keeper standing up to the seamers. Blundell does so and they get the wickets of Duckett and Root.
Doing so creates a whole new dynamic. Batters can't change a bowlers length by constantly swapping their guards in and outside the crease and they certainly aren't going to charge down the track. It doesn't have to be done every over but doing so creates a different challenge, even more so with the keeper constantly in the batter's ears.
The only reason I can think for us not doing so is that either our bowlers aren't comfortable with that happening, which would be bizarre given they've got more than 300 without getting a wicket, or they don't consider Smith competent enough to do so, in which case they should be picking Foakes.
Funky fields are designed to create doubt in the mind of the batter. A keeper standing up to a seamer will do far more.4 -

They’ll end up having an 100+ first innings lead despite us being 215 runs behind with 8 wickets in hand at close, on an absolute road. We are shit.0

150 years of Test cricket & suddenly keepers are standing up to the "quicks". I can only imagine that the bowlers arent that quick as I I couldn't see Rodney Marsh standing up to Thommo & Lillie.Addick Addict said:Addick Addict said:We've been going through the motions here.

I'm convinced if Matt Henry had taken part in all 3 test matches they would've won 2-1 or 3-0.
Great toss to win in this 3rd test.
Pleased that Ben Duckett scored a ton after turning down loads of money to play county cricket to be better prepared for test cricket 👏🏻
Stokes now bowled and NZ despite being without Henry and Philips are right back on top.4 -
Very confusing, as I keep wondering why Ben Foakes is bowling for NZ.3

Concussion subs. Please explain.
Are they chosen from the whole touring party or just the 12/13/14 named in the squad for this particular Test match ?
Who is/are England's concussion sub(s). Must have at least 3 - a spinner to cover Bashir, a pace bowler to cover the non-spinners and a batsman to c8ver the top/middle order.
Or is it just other teams that can swap Laberchange for Smith and Foulkes for Tickner.0 -
Decided to switch countries whe Rew was picked ahead of him last Testkillerandflash said:Very confusing, as I keep wondering why Ben Foakes is bowling for NZ.0 -
Why would they have picked an injured player in the last test?blackpool72 said:
